Mo Gilligan
"For comedian and TV host Mo Gilligan, podcast work gives him the opportunity to dig deeply into subjects and be more reflective. “I wanted to create a space where people could reflect on their own journey,” he says, adding that appearing on the programme is a chance for guests to show who they really are, behind their public personas, and “unapologetically be themselves”.
“So often we build up these ideas about people—based on headlines, interviews or public perception—but when they speak for themselves, you realise their truth is often very different from what you expected,” he explains. “That honesty, that vulnerability, it’s powerful.” His picks of the podcasts that he loves to listen to are as eclectic as his favourite guests on his own show.
And Mo has welcomed some big names onto his podcast, from Jonathan Ross (“a legend with stories for days”) to Jameela Jamil (“candid, passionate and completely unfiltered”). But one of the most memorable was Craig David. “It was full of pure nostalgia. Listening to him speak about the early years of his career felt like I was watching a biopic in real time. It took me back to growing up, hearing those songs for the first time, and realising how much of a cultural impact he made. It was emotional, inspiring and just a beautiful full-circle moment.” As a listener, Mo shares some of his podcasting favourites below.
Have You Heard George’s Podcast?
“This one’s pure escapism. It doesn’t feel like a podcast—it feels like art. The storytelling, the sound design, the poetry—it’s completely immersive.”
The Diary Of A CEO with Steven Bartlett
“This one always makes my drives feel shorter. I love how it dives deep into the minds of world-class thinkers. I often come away learning things I didn’t even know I needed to learn.”
3ShotsOfTequila
“I know the guys personally, so for me it feels like I’m an unofficial extra guest every episode. It’s hilarious, raw and full of great conversations around pop culture and life.”
Drink Champs
“It’s beautifully chaotic. The guests—especially the legends in hip-hop—share unfiltered stories that feel like you’re sat in the studio with them. That rawness and authenticity is what I love most.”
Jim Rohn Talks
“Bite-sized motivational wisdom: Jim Rohn’s philosophies on life are timeless. I’ll throw it on whether I need a little lift or just want to stay grounded and inspired.”
UK True Crime Podcast
“I get proper CSI vibes when I listen to this. The storytelling is gripping and the production is top-notch. It’s one of those ones I always end up retelling to friends at dinner parties.”
We Need To Talk with Paul C Brunson
“This is a recent discovery but I’m hooked. Paul has such a calm presence that makes guests open up in unexpected ways. The production’s amazing, and the conversations feel really genuine.”
Dissect
“If you’re a music head like me, this podcast is gold. It breaks down iconic songs piece by piece, giving you a new appreciation for every lyric, beat and layer. Makes you hear music differently.”
