Engaging and high quality podcast

Benjamin’s delivery and wealth of knowledge makes this a podcast a joy to listen to. Forget boring English lit lessons where you rolled your eyes at Shakespeare he his enthusiasm will bring the text to life. He wants you to ‘live the Great Books’ so it’s more than a book review you get history, social commentary, insights into the author all from an Oxford grad. Personally I would say that he has enhanced my understanding of so many Great Books and pieces of literature from I started reading in earnest again for my PHd in philosophy. Join his Hardcore Literature Book Group over on Pateron. Best thing I did to enhance my reading. Thanks to Ben for the care, attention he puts into all he does.
The gravity of reading

A respite from the ossifying, thought-deadening shallowness of what passes for ‘cultured engagement’ with books these days. Thank you for reading carefully and thinking deeply.
A portal to great a wider world

Benjamin provides a podcast which serves as a springboard into your own subconscious. With the great authors serving as windows through which to understand yourself, Benjamin builds links and opens new outlooks onto yourself, and that of humanity. So refreshing to have someone who dives deeper in a time of reductive doom scrolling. Well done!
Amazing

Wow, about one month ago I found myself writing my personal statement to send off to uni for when I apply for English Literature, and beyond read, thinking, investigating their is only so much I can say I do with a book, and the truth is I’m 16 and a normal person I’m trying my hardest but I don’t understand half the stuff a literature scholar would, I don’t understand the bard or the poetry of John Donne but that doesn’t mean I don’t love it. And listening to this podcast changed my whole outlook on prose, it helps me understand so much about my passion and the books I am too frightened to pick up, whatever I love this podcast I listen to it in the morning before school, when I return form school, in the evenings on my weekends and everywhere I go their is so much I’ve listened to since I’ve discovered it and I love it dearly. The man who creates these podcasts must be a genius, or just a genius in literature.
The best book discussion.

Benjamin single handedly got me hooked on classic literature.

Benjamin is the one of the greatest guys I’ve found to discuss not only literature but life in general. Would be lost without these and his fantastic YouTube channel!
The best podcast about the best books

I’ve been following this podcast and its sister YT channel for over a year and have learnt so much from it. Ben has a way of talking about literature that really engages, without being too academic or talking down to you. The podcast is great and his Patreon channel is even better - that’s where you go if you want the true bookclub experience. Absolutely the best.
Ben’s enthusiasm is infectious.

I found Ben on YouTube when looking for help with reading Shakespeare then found these podcasts and I was hooked. If only my school teachers had shown such passion for literature and understanding of the human condition then I wouldn’t be here in my 60’s just learning to appreciate the great authors and poets. Ben talks with such knowledge and passion about every book and literary topic that I joined his Hardcore Literary Book club this year and am tackling books I always thought beyond me and learning so much about life and myself. I can’t recommend him enough if you are a serious reader.
An Inspiration

Thoughtful, intelligent, provocative. Brings life and enthusiasm to great works of fiction. While others on YouTube focus on third-rate writers and advise on how to blast your way through as many books as possible, Benjamin McEvoy teaches you how to love the great books again. He does so with an infectious enthusiasm, unmatched by any other podcast or YouTube channel.
So so

Only listened to the general podcasts so far but he doesn’t appear to have any opinions of his own, all recycled and regurgitated from other sources, often 2nd and third hand from people like Bloom et al. Not sure it’s even useful for neophytes. Very much in the bro-lit genre.
