So often, podcast narrators or creators seem to thing they have to have a ‘personality’ in order to make the content interesting. This is usually manifest as being loud, shrieking, annoying, inauthentic and overly emotive. It also usually means the actual content is poorly researched, drawn out and not very interesting. They are often too full of self-regard to ever consider themselves secondary to the actual story. Rest assured, there are no such worries here. Peerless research is delivered with a refreshingly authentic, humble honesty. Such traits are rarely found today. Maybe the guy is just an enthusiastic amateur, but he clearly cares about what he does and isn’t trying to make a name for himself, so is very happy for the story to be the star. I don’t want some giggling imbecile with the delivery style of a children’s TV presenter distracting me from the detail; I want to hear interesting, unusual stories that have been thoroughly researched and presented without spin and shoehorned political correctness. I love this podcast and the low-fi, homemade feel of it. Do you want apple pie from a supermarket or do you want a homemade delight lovingly made by your Grandma? Sure, the packaging and blurb from the supermarket looks great, but it will taste of cardboard and you’ll spend hours wondering where the actual apples are. This podcast is an all-butter pie, crammed with fresh apples and drenched with double cream. It may have the odd imperfection here and there, but who cares? Thank you and please, please, please never change!
Update: I absolutely love your podcast released on 29/01/26. Far too many people crumple under the teeniest amount of pressure these days, so fair play to you for standing your ground and not bowing to ridiculous shrieking. Never surrender. If only our political leaders and business leaders had some backbone, this country would be in a better place.
