Compelling, Gripping, Compulsively Listening

Fascinating, intriguing, mysterious accounts told beautifully, with warmth, compassion & a forensic intelligence by the delightful Mr Philip Holloway. I’ve been glued to my iPad listening in the UK. It’s opened up a new culture to me of people & their lives usually with a British heritage (surnames are often very familiar in Britain, I’ve lived in Highgate, near Holloway, in North London) who’ve been formed by a different geography & the striations of old British culture transplanted & grown into something new, fascinating.

Trying too hard

I know this case, and I am super interested in it. I like the lead narrator as I recognize him from UaV - but this seems to make exactly the same mistakes as UaV did. Too much personal involvement, the music is too overwhelming and too on the nose (trust your audience! You don’t need squeeling violins to make a decapitation eerie!) and it feels like you’re trying to make a sensational western out of a tragic murder.

I might finish this, simply because I am interested in this case, but I am disappointed with the turn these two podcasts took.
