"I will tell you everything” - Prince Kofi Amoabeng

What really happened to UT Bank? In this deeply revealing episode of The Peswa Podcast, Captain (Rtd.) Prince Kofi Amoabeng, founder and former CEO of UT, opens up about one of the most consequential chapters of his life — the rise, transformation and eventual collapse of UT Bank. Captain Amoabeng takes us back to the beginning — from his early struggles with conventional banking and the creation of Unique Trust Financial Services, to the journey of trying to become a bank, the challenges of obtaining a banking licence, and eventually acquiring an existing bank and transforming it into UT Bank. He speaks candidly about the decisions that shaped UT, the mistakes that were made, the people he trusted, and the internal problems that emerged as the company transitioned from a small entrepreneurial operation into a major financial institution. Amoabeng revisits the events surrounding the 2017 revocation of UT Bank's licence, his understanding of what went wrong, the non-performing loans and financial difficulties facing the institution, and why he believes UT could have been saved. He also opens up about his relationship with former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta, and why he later felt betrayed when UT Bank came under pressure. He reflects on what he believes he got wrong, the people who disappointed him, the political environment surrounding UT's collapse, and the lessons he believes African entrepreneurs need to understand before attempting to build institutions that outlive them. This is a conversation about UT Bank — but it is also a conversation about power, influence, trust and the cost of building in Africa. Watch until the end. This is Captain Kofi Amoabeng like you've never heard him before. Druski: They're Lying To You About Overnight Success!

How do you transform childhood trauma and crippling doubt into a relentless drive for greatness? Druski reveals the psychological forces behind comedy, life, and self-belief to help you break past rejection and master your ultimate purpose. Druski is a cultural phenomenon, megastar comedian, and the creator of an independent production empire who has rapidly ascended to the top of the entertainment industry. He breaks down how humor was used to navigate a traumatic childhood and manifest his current success. His insights provide a playbook for silencing external noise, overcoming avoidant attachment, and betting everything on yourself. Trigger Warning: Please note there are mentions of child abuse and violence within this conversation. In this episode, he explains: ■ The Trauma of Humor: How growing up in a high stress, physically abusive household forced him to use comedy as a tool to read the room and defuse tension. ■ The "No Plan B" Strategy: Why facing the barrel of a gun during a street scam triggered a radical mental shift, empowering him to commit entirely to his vision. ■ The Avoidant Attachment Trap: The reasons why successful individuals often struggle with romantic trust, and how a lack of a healthy parental relationship creates deep rooted intimacy fears. ■ The Power of Silence: Why discovering your true calling requires the painful, counter intuitive act of isolating yourself in total silence. ■ Bypassing the Gatekeepers: The exact mindset required to overcome corporate rejection by self-funding your own creative projects. Segment: Having a Mind of Your Own is Your Greatest Superpower in Life

What if the biggest difference between people who build sustainable creative careers and those who burn out isn't talent or opportunity, but understanding early that you must go through every single stage of the journey, that having a mind of your own is a superpower worth protecting, and that becoming a father while still figuring out your own life can either break you or become the fire that pushes you to levels you never imagined possible? In this raw and deeply personal episode of Konnected Minds, we sit down with Kiti, an Afrobeats artist who reveals the uncomfortable truth about discovering you're going to be a father in your final year of university while in different countries, why he was scared and shaking because he had nothing to his name and was still raising himself and trying to figure out his sound and his place in the world, why another human being added to that equation was such a scary concept but he always knew he would find a way because he is Mr. Find A Way, and why even though it affected his education and he had resets the thought of raising a child put fire under him that made everybody ask where is this guy from and where did he come from. He breaks down why his first ever performance outside of Ghana was in the UK and that was when he got the chance to meet his son for the first time, why they came to visit and then COVID happened so they ended up just staying, why he loved the concept of having him near where he could see him anytime he wanted to, and why in the initial stages as a young artist coming up becoming a father was one of many things that put fire under him to make it work no matter what. But he also confronts the family meeting that almost changed everything. Why his brother and his wife called him to a family meeting with his mom to express their concern, why his brother's wife had gone to a concert at Plus 233 and seen legends people they grew up listening to perform and she wasn't happy with how they looked, why she saw that nothing had gone on well for them in their lives and it became a point of concern, and why she asked him are you sure music is what you can do to one day put food on the table for your family. He reveals why in that moment he felt how he felt because he was a talented boy who could sing and thought he was Chris Brown, why now growing up and looking back at that conversation he gets it and it was a very very valid concern, why his brother who was taking care of him at the time is very strict like his dad and believes you have to go to school do your national service and do what needs to be done, and why even though he didn't want to do his national service his brother said you have to do it so he said cool. But we also dive deep into the power of having a mind of your own. Why there's never been a time in his life where there wasn't too many voices in his ears but he's always always always had a mind of his own, why if everybody says this cup is black and to him he thinks it's blue you will not convince him it is black, why he'll listen to everybody and hear what they say but at the end of the day when he goes back to his bed he makes the final decision based on his reality his circumstance what he wants and where he's trying to go, and why he's always thanked God for the power to have a mind of his own because you have no idea how much of a superpower that is. He explains why Michael Jackson's method with his father Joe Jackson worked for him but it doesn't mean if Joe Jackson had another kid called Craig Jackson it would have worked the same way, why everybody's formula is different everybody's timeline is different everybody's path is different, why people project to you what they think they have done and it's worked for them so you too you have to do that but no your life is different your circumstance is different your vision is different, and why he's open to listening and will go back and think about what you've said but if it's not making sense to what he wants to do he's not gonna take that. But he also reveals the humility required to lead effectively. Why he's one of the easiest people you meet and very rational, why he can go into a meeting very set on something he wants to do based on his projections and analogies but somebody in the team can hit him up with a perspective he hasn't thought about, why he'll go back and make some psych and call and say you know what I'm humble enough to let you know that I was very certain this thing I wanted to do but the perspective you gave me wasn't one I thought about and it makes sense so I'm going to take that, and why sometimes the perspective you give him he's heard it but he still believes in his bones in his spirit this is what needs to be done. We confront the brutal truth about shortcuts and stages. Why he reads books of wealthy people world leaders and everybody who has attained certain things in life and they never have one stream of income, why he knows he'll get there but to...

Segment: Music Labels vs Independence - Artists Make More Doing It Themselves

What if the biggest difference between artists who build sustainable careers and those who flame out after a few hits isn't talent, opportunity, or even luck, but understanding early that you must read every single line of a contract, that having a mind of your own is a superpower worth protecting at all costs, and that rushing to skip stages in life will always bring you back down like a snake in a game of Ludo? In this raw and deeply personal episode of Konnected Minds, we sit down with Kiti, an Afrobeats artist who reveals the uncomfortable truth about signing his first record deal as an overexcited young man who trusted his marketing brother instead of a lawyer to review the contract, why he wishes he understood 10 years ago what he knows now about reading the fine prints and spending four hours on the phone with his lawyer going through every single line including legal terms his brain isn't developed enough to understand, and why even though he learned the hard way he's grateful because the path he took is what made him who he is today. He breaks down why these days it's not even exciting anymore for artists to sign label contracts because a lot of artists are just doing their own thing and the realization is that they make more if they do it themselves, why he thinks maybe that path is what a lot of young people are taking now, why after realizing he must have lost a lot of money simply by being part of a label he's doing things differently by making sure he knows exactly what he's committing to in every contract, and why this is not just about protecting himself now but about a long term plan for understanding what he's agreeing to. But he also confronts the brutal reality about talent versus business. Why regardless of how talented a person is in any field they only really get to make and sustain money if the talent matches up with business, why otherwise you're just a talented person and that's not enough and not sustainable for the long term, why his worry for a lot of creatives and artists is really about the future of the work because a time is going to come where you might not be able to stand even at the O2 and perform because you don't have the energy to, and why these sort of conversations become important for every artist to hear. He reveals why even though he had nothing growing up he's always known and seen and wanted the beauty of life, why he's always wanted to live an opulent life even though he didn't know what that meant, why he watched Game of Thrones and The Last Kingdom and Succession and knows what wealth looks like including the problems it comes with but also the ease and access it gives you in the world, and why even though it's not at the forefront like he's chasing wealth chasing wealth chasing wealth he knows at the end of the day he wanted to live a life that was comfortable for his kids his mom his family and everybody around him who works with him works for him works under him. But he also shares his vision for wealth and responsibility. Why he's always wanted everybody to be comfortable and it still comes from him being responsible for everybody, why he wants everybody who has any plug attached to Kiti to find a benefit for that plug attached to Kiti, why if you read books of wealthy people world leaders and everybody who has attained certain things in life they never have one stream of income, and why he knows that he'll get there but to get there he refuses to rush through the stages. He confronts the problem he's had with a lot of labels and collaborations in the music industry. Why lots of people are in a hurry to get to the end and in a hurry to do this for us to make money and do that for us to make money, why he's very very very particular because you cannot no matter how smart you think you are no matter how wise you think you are make it if you jump from step one to six, why you need to go through the motions no matter how they look like and you have to go from step one to step two because there's a lesson in step two that if you don't learn and you think you are going to skip steps you will come back like when you are playing Ludo and you land on a snake that brings you back, and why as Drake said on his new album Iceman a lot of people want to get rich quick and get to the end and get to the pinnacle but they don't want to go through the work of it. But we also dive deep into the power of having a mind of your own. Why there's never been a time in his life where there wasn't too many voices in his ears but he's always always always had a mind of his own, why if everybody says this cup is black and to him he thinks it's blue you will not convince him it is black, why he'll listen to everybody and hear what they say but at the end of the day when he goes back to his bed he makes the final decision based on his reality his circumstance what he wants and where he's trying to go, and why he's always thanked God for the power to have a mind of his own...

Unlock Success in Ghana: This Lebanese Speak on Why Foreigners Own Ghana's Biggest Businesses While Ghanaians Complain - Mr Fouad Chalabi

What if the biggest reason Ghanaians struggle to build bigger businesses isn’t foreigners, the government, or the economy - but the way we think about business? In this powerful episode of Konnected Minds, Derrick Abaitey sits down with Mr. Fouad, a Lebanese-Ghanaian entrepreneur who has spent decades building businesses in Ghana and working in the telecommunications industry. From why foreign companies often trust expatriate managers, to the uncomfortable question of why some Ghanaian businesses struggle to scale, collaborate and compete, this conversation challenges some deeply held beliefs about business in Ghana. Mr. Fouad also shares the story of how he developed Unit Transfer, an early telecom innovation that allowed customers to transfer airtime in small denominations - an idea he believes helped lay some of the groundwork for the mobile money ecosystem that followed. He reveals what happened when his company became a major distributor of MTN’s business, why he believes competition matters, and what entrepreneurs can learn from the experience.
