Recipe for hope: Can a blend of tradition and innovation stave off severe food insecurity in Cameroon

In this special Red Vest podcast episode, we start our journey with a group of women in Cameroon's Far North region as they mix and stir a mix of nuts, flour, grains and other ingredients in big metal pots. In many places around the world, the sweet energy-packed mixture they are producing could be marketed as a super-rich power drink, favoured by fitness buffs and body-conscious dieters. But here in the Far North region of Cameroon, it takes on a very different meaning. Here, the bouillie enriche, as it's called, is literally a life saver – saving the lives mainly of children who are suffering the brunt of a long-lasting food insecurity crisis. In this episode, we explores how this new twist on an ancient recipe blends with other innovations (micro-economic initiatives, local banks for saving and trading grains, and local mothers and fathers' clubs) to build resilience in the face of a severe climate-induced crisis.

How Xi is Outplaying Trump and Tensions in Northern Ireland

As Trump becomes the first American president to personally welcome a visiting head of state off a plane since JFK greeted Harold Macmillan in 1962, did his summit with President Xi signal improving US-China relations, or does Xi have his counterpart in an economic chokehold? With the standoff between protesters and members of the pro-British Protestant Orange Order in Northern Ireland showing no sign of resolution, is the region's fragile peace in danger of unravelling? And as violence erupts in Ethiopia, is Africa's second most populous country on the brink of civil war – and does it risk dragging other regional actors into a wider conflict spanning the Horn of Africa and the Gulf? Join Rory and Alastair as they answer all these questions and more in this week's edition of Question Time. __________ Research: Evie Townend Social Producer: Celine Charles Video Editor: Josh Smith, Lorcan Moullier, Oli Ortega, Joe Pettit Assistant Producer: Daisy Alston-Horne Producer: Evan Green Exec Producer: Bella Soames Learn more about your ad choices. France gripped by school protests

There have been violent scenes outside schools across France as a dispute over learning conditions continues. The French government has accused left-wing party La France Insoumise of stoking up the disturbances. One of the party’s MPs tells us that the accusation is “absurd” and reflects the government’s disdain for young people. Also on the programme: we hear from the lawyer of Renee Good's family as they file a lawsuit against the Trump administration over her killing during a Minneapolis immigration crackdown; and the Beatles album Rubber Soul is re-released with previously unheard studio tracks.
