    Mug Club Olympics

Welcome back, craft beer travelers. Flex finally makes it to New Glarus and comes home with a pear beer worth talking about, while Greg discovers double dry hopped Pliny and suddenly remembers why people get excited about Pliny in the first place. The guys try to fix modern mug clubs with secret passwords, member-only beers, and beer Olympics, Intern Brian mounts a legal defense for Florida Man driving backwards down the highway, Scottish soccer fans drink Boston bars dry, and a British Airways crew member makes an unforgettable last call request. Beers We’re Drinking: Flex is drinking Pear 26 from New Glarus Brewing, a tart pear fruit beer worth the Wisconsin detour.Greg is drinking Separation Anxiety from Mother Earth Brewing Company, a hazy IPA with tropical fruit salad energy. Flex reports back from his family trip to Cave of the Mounds, where he was apparently the most excited person on the tour, then gets surprised with a New Glarus stop that feels a little underwhelming but still sends him home with a haul. Greg brings mug club math to the table and immediately makes it less depressing by pitching member-only beers, dumb brewery Olympics, secret passwords, and a mug wall that does not require people to carry their own glass around like a weird little goblet. Intern Brian calls in to defend Florida Man driving backwards down the highway, which gets Greg and Flex wondering if there is technically a law against it as long as the blinkers work. The guys also find Flex’s ketchup limit, and it is broccoli. The Birds and the Beers

Welcome aboard, craft beer passengers. Greg and Flex hit some IPA turbulence courtesy of Pilot Tom, Greg revisits a coffee stout email that tastes like old refrigerator coffee, and he remembers getting chased out of Hooters over a missing tip. A Florida man tries to explain why driving backward down a highway was better than swerving, a former WWE star suplexes his way into a DUI, BuzzBalls are dominating, and Poop Beer-gate continues. Beers We’re Drinking: Flex is drinking Citraquench’l from Heist Brewery, a Citra-hopped hazy IPA that Pilot Tom warned was underwhelming.Greg is drinking Let It Out from Unsung Brewing, a dry New Zealand IPA with Enigma hop energy. Flex defends his lifelong hatred of the Cubs, including in front of his kids. Later, a Target run for first aid turns into him trying to steer his daughter away from the adult section across the aisle. Greg shares a high school Hooters date that ended with a waitress chasing him into the parking lot. Meanwhile, Pilot Tom unknowingly becomes a hero after sending Flex an IPA and accurately warning him in advance that it might be disappointing, proving once again that pilots are good at identifying turbulence before everyone else feels it. The Okayest Beer in America

Welcome back to the craft beer multiverse. Greg and Flex get into Drecker doing Drecker things, Yuengling defending its crown as the most alright beer alive, and a whale testicle beer smoked over sheep poop because Iceland apparently looked at normal beer and got bored. There’s also a voicemail that explains why old beer sits on shelves forever, Flex gets fact-checked on Wisconsin badgers, Greg finds Casa Agria living on through Rincon, and a cemetery drunk driving story earns the very important word “again.” Beers We’re Drinking: Flex is drinking Emotional Support Demon from Drecker Brewing, a hazy IPA with candied pineapple and classic Drecker can energy.Greg is drinking Chuuuurch from Kern River Brewing, a clean West Coast IPA with Mosaic, Citra, Amarillo, and a suspicious amount of lacing. Flex recaps a rare win at the local brewpub after years of bad food, bad service, and emotional damage, only to find great beer, jalapeño slaw, and a cheese pizza good enough to make everyone question reality. Greg and Flex then give Yuengling the proper tribute it deserves as the most all right beer on the face of the planet, which is not an insult as much as a diagnosis. Greg talks barbecue with Interim Brian, a surprise fruited hazy that didn’t ruin his day, and the very good news that Casa Agria recipes are showing up again at Rincon. The whale testicle beer sends the guys straight into 2,000 pounds of ball math, Icelandic smoking logistics, and whether California wildfires could be repurposed for whale-based brewing. Then Bryan from Madison calls in with the beer rep side of old shelf beer, Flex gets corrected by multiple people about badgers actually existing in Wisconsin, and everyone learns that feedback is great even when it proves you were stupid. Worst Beer I Ever Paid For

Welcome back, craft beer lovers. Steph from the Utah Brewers Guild joins Greg and Flex as Greg uncovers a five-year-old IPA lurking in the craft beer thrift shop, the hunt for the worst beer ever ordered adds a few strong contenders, and Psycho Bear calls in with a surprise update. Somewhere in the middle, Flex explains why he’d absolutely steal a penguin if given the opportunity, before Booze News delivers a story about a drunk driver getting arrested while picking up another drunk driver from jail. Beers We’re Drinking: Greg is drinking Hippie Van Hazy from Malibu Brewing Company, a dank, piney hazy IPA.Steph is drinking a Mexican Lager from Templin Family Brewing after her Drowned Lands Kinsfolk doppelbock went full soy sauce.Flex is drinking Watercolors Fruit Punch from Skygazer Brewing, a smoothie sour repeat that turned out to be a great mistake. Greg’s latest trip to the craft beer thrift shop uncovers a five-year-old IPA still sitting on the shelf; this should be a crime. The conversation turns into a collection of beer horror stories involving pennies, blood, soy sauce, habanero beer, and memorable drain pours, while Steph shares a disappointing doppelbock that made a cross-country trip for nothing. A surprise voicemail from Psycho Bear brings updates from California beer country before the group debates pickle beer, Mexican lagers, and whether Flex could successfully leave a zoo with a penguin. Please Don’t Fertilize the Beer

Welcome back, craft beer people. Greg and Flex are joined by Utah Brewers Guild Executive Director Steph, who walks straight into a conversation about urine-fertilized beer, exploding smoothie cans, and why craft beer forgot how to have fun for a while. The crew gets into the weird peak of Covid-era beer trends, Ohio’s deeply suspicious chili spaghetti situation, and the possible return of Anchor Brewing while Flex spends an alarming amount of time trying to figure out what people from Utah are called. Beers We’re Drinking: Flex is drinking Big Time Cheesin from RAR Brewing and Everywhere, a colorful West Coast IPA with big label energy.Steph is drinking Rainforest Cafeteria from Ogden Beer Company and Melvin Brewing, a small-batch West Coast pilsner brewed for the mashup fest.Greg is drinking Liquid Candy from Tarantula Hill Brewing Company, a hazy IPA with tropical Costco confidence. Steph joins the show and immediately has to sit through a full breakdown of good dick weather, including Flex ranking Nashville, Orlando, and Cincinnati like a man with field research. The crew gets into craft beer’s fun problem, why American Craft Beer Week barely made a sound, and whether the industry is finally crawling out of the overloaded smoothie-beer era. Flex gets stuck on Utah geography, BYU Cougars, actual cougars, and why Wisconsin has Badgers but apparently no badgers. Greg also finds out Google thinks Wisconsin is drunk, which feels less like a search result and more like a witness statement. Pool Water Pale Ale

Welcome back, craft beer people. Flex gets bullied by a cookie butter beer that smells like cookies and drinks like regret, Ryan sends in a pale ale that tastes like the YMCA, and Pilot Tom accidentally tells Dick Leinenkugel how mid his beer is. There’s also debate over whether Keystone Ice should’ve stayed dead, PBR catches stray bullets again, and Greg ends up defending 805 to a diehard Bud Light drinker. Beers We’re Drinking: Flex is drinking Speculoos Cookie Butter Beer from Hardywood Park Craft Brewery, a Trader Joe’s imperial dessert beer with serious consequences.Greg is drinking Me Again from Urban Roots Brewing, a clean West Coast IPA with Citra hops and a much better life outlook. Flex spends most of the episode trying to survive a Trader Joe’s cookie butter beer. Greg reads an email from a listener who got served a pale ale that tasted exactly like the YMCA pool. Pilot Tom checks in with a story about accidentally telling Dick Leinenkugel that his beer lineup is fine at best after he covered everyone’s tab. Greg follows that with his own story about tanking a job interview after admitting he hates country music before learning the entire job was editing country music shows. Meanwhile, Keystone Ice is coming back for reasons nobody understands, PBR gets roasted repeatedly, and Greg confirms wakeboarding still feels like getting hit by a car. Do I Feel a Saison Coming?

Welcome to the Oregon Trail of craft beer. Flex drains two bad beers before a saison finally turns the night around, Greg checks out a brewery soft opening where every beer tastes suspiciously similar, and listener Steph joins the growing campaign to drag Flex to Great Taste of the Midwest. There’s also a coffee stout made with poop-adjacent beans, Cinco de Mayo drinking regrets, glow-in-the-dark 15% malt liquor light bulbs, and a DUI story featuring a .349 BAC that really should’ve come with a priest. Beers We’re Drinking: Flex is drinking Supermoon Beer Company’s Saison, a crisp farmhouse ale with light funk and old-school saison character.Greg is drinking Altamont Beer Works’ Cali Hop Trip, a modern West Coast IPA collaborate with Firestone Walker and Hollingbery & Son Hops. Flex accidentally assembled the worst beer lineup imaginable before the show, including a metallic peach Berliner and an expired IPA that both ended up down the drain. Greg recaps a local brewery soft opening where the beers tasted unfinished and somehow nearly identical despite being different styles. Listener Steph leaves a voicemail demanding Flex stop dodging Great Taste of the Midwest, which turns into a full-on intervention once Pilot Tom gets involved. Greg and Flex also debate poop coffee beer, relive disastrous Cinco de Mayo drinking decisions from their younger years, and question why anyone thought glow-in-the-dark 15% malt liquor light bulbs needed to exist. Two IPAs Six Hours Ago

Welcome in, craft beer sleuths. Greg checks out a new MLB park, survives a rain-soaked Dodgers game, and discovers that Lime scooters become a lot more fun after a few beers at Humble Sea on the wharf. Erica brings a hazy pale ale from Astoria and accidentally starts a long discussion about sea lions, Waymos, and whether pregaming ever actually saves anyone money. Meanwhile, a listener sends in an IPA horror story that tasted exactly like Band-Aids, an Idaho biologist gets arrested after claiming he only had “two IPAs,” and Florida produces another mayor story that somehow feels perfectly normal. Beers We’re Drinking: Greg and Greg are drinking Buoy Beer’s Hazy Pale Ale, a soft citrus and honeydew hazy crusher from Astoria.Flex is drinking Young Blood Beer Co.’s High Horse on a Soapbox, a pillowy hazy double IPA with muscat grape sweetness and melon-like fruit notes. Greg finally checks Oracle Park off the list, complete with rain sweeping across the field mid-game and a strategic pivot to banquet beers after the stadium’s craft selection disappointed him. Humble Sea on the wharf ended up being the highlight of the trip, followed by Greg discovering Lime scooters are much faster than expected after a few beers. A listener sends in an IPA horror story that tasted exactly like fresh Band-Aids, followed immediately by everyone debating phenolic beer flaws and whether Flex might secretly enjoy chewing on adhesive strips. Pregaming becomes a painfully familiar conversation about concerts nobody remembers, overpoured jack and diets, and realizing halfway through the night that saving money is no longer the goal. The episode closes with a completely serious discussion about why rehabilitated manatees are apparently being shipped across state lines instead of staying in Florida where the manatees already live.
