It’s Time For The Church To Tell a New Story

If we are serious about changing the culture within the church, then we must begin to change the narrative that leaders tell. If the only stories we are telling through social media are who is preaching, what you’re preaching, and how amazing everything was on Sunday, then we will continue to get and BE what we continue to highlight. In this episode of the Everyday Disciple Podcast, Caesar is joined by author and missional strategist, Brad Brisco. They discuss how the types of stories we're commonly telling about our churches are having damaging consequences. It's time to change all that! In This Episode You’ll Learn:How silly our stories about our church sound and look online. How many of our stories betray a deep sense of consumerism. Why changing the narratives we tell will reshape the Church itself.Ways to discover and discern what God is already doing, and then tell those stories. Get started here… From this episode: "If our relationship with God is largely transactional, then that’s how we’ll view the Church. God desires a relationship of trust with you that is real and present. He is longing to draw you into His big Story and in so doing, rewrite the story of your life. And not just your afterlife, but today, tomorrow… with your family and friends, and within the Church." What Causes Sin and How to Stop It

“Just stop it!” doesn’t really work when it comes to changing sinful actions, habits, or thoughts in our lives (or in others). And perhaps what you’ve been taught about sin and repentance is all wrong... Today on the Everyday Disciple Podcast, we talk about where sin really comes from and how we can move away from our particular brand of sin and find freedom. What if all sin is actually a symptom of something else? Not many Christians think of themselves as unbelievers. We normally use the term to describe people who are not yet followers of Jesus. But there are many things about God that we all still do not believe. Often there’s a large gap between what we say we believe in our head, and what we truly believe in our heart. This is where sin comes from. In This Episode You’ll Learn:A radical heart-level perspective on sin and repentance. How and why God looks at the heart–not at your actions.Four eternal truths about God, when not fully believed, lead to every human sin.A way to stop sinning by changing what you believe to be true (powerful!) Get started here... From this episode... "Moving from unbelief to belief about what is true about God is the secret! Out of his identity and character flows his actions and will. As we move from unbelief to belief concerning these truths, we will be led out of sinful actions and negative emotions."Each week the Big 3 will give you immediate action steps to get you started.Download today’s BIG 3 right now. Stop Confusing Justice With Payback & Revenge

Most of us carry a definition of justice we picked up somewhere along the way — and it usually looks like payback. Someone wrongs you, someone wrongs others, and justice means they get what's coming to them. But what if that version of justice has almost nothing to do with what God actually means by the word? In this episode of the Everyday Disciple Podcast, we're going to dig into what the Bible actually means by mercy and justice — and why they're not opposites. You'll discover how God's justice is really about restoration, and what it looks like to participate in that restorative work in the lives of people around you. In This Episode You’ll Learn: The biblical definitions of mercy and justice that will change how you see bothWhat actually produces a love of mercy in your own heartHow God's restorative justice is bigger than any weekend service projectWhere to start engaging real injustice — locally and globally Get started here... From this episode: "Justice is really about restoration. Getting even or punishing people for their screw-ups is going in the wrong direction. It's working against God's purposes. God is not interested in getting even; he wants people to see who they really are — who they were meant to be. How they should live. For things to be made right, restored."Each week the Big 3 will give you immediate action steps to get you started.Download today’s BIG 3 right now. Read and think over them again later. What Gospel Fluency Sounds Like

Most of us grew up with a gospel that was mainly about the afterlife. Avoid hell. Get to heaven. Manage sin in the meantime. But quietly, you start to wonder — is this it? Is this all Jesus came to give us? It's a fair question, and the answer might surprise you. In this episode of the Everyday Disciple Podcast, we're going to unpack what it looks like to live with a bigger gospel — one that has something real to say about your marriage, your money, your identity, and your Tuesday afternoon. We call this Gospel Fluency. And it changes everything. The Reward of Being a Lifelong Learner

Most of us hit a point where life got full and learning got quiet. We stopped reading, stopped asking questions, stopped sitting across from people who could actually sharpen us. Marriage, Singleness, and Our Identity in Christ

Most of us in the church have heard the message, even if no one said it out loud: get married, have a family, and you'll be complete. We've built so many of our rhythms and language around marriage as the destination that singleness has quietly become a waiting room. In this episode of the Everyday Disciple Podcast, we're going to look at how the church's narratives about marriage and singleness have limited us — and what it looks like to find real wholeness and identity in Christ, whether you have a ring on your finger or not. In This Episode You’ll Learn: What the Bible actually says about marriage — and what it doesn'tWhy singleness in the church gets treated like a problem to fixHow our language about marriage unintentionally excludes and diminishesWhat it means to be complete in Christ regardless of relationship status Get started here... From this episode: "Many of the church's narratives have limited our understanding of marriage and obscured our view of the life-giving and kingdom-serving roles of single people. Jesus was single his entire life and is the most whole, complete picture of both human-ness and who God is."Each week the Big 3 will give you immediate action steps to get you started.Download today’s BIG 3 right now.
