Rachel Nickell: The Case Behind the Netflix Documentary

Netflix is dropping a documentary today called "The Murder of Rachel Nickell," and if you want the full story before you watch, you are in the right place. On a warm morning in July of 1992, a young mother named Rachel Nickell was walking with her two-year-old son, Alex Hanscombe, on Wimbledon Common in southwest London. In broad daylight, an attacker emerged and brutally murdered Rachel. Little Alex was left alone in the woods, clinging to his mother and trying to wake her. The crime shocked the United Kingdom and put immense pressure on the Metropolitan Police to find the killer. What followed became one of the most controversial investigations in British history. Desperate for a lead, detectives focused entirely on an innocent local man named Colin Stagg and launched a manipulative undercover sting known as Operation Edzell to trap him into confessing. Meanwhile, the real killer, Robert Napper, remained free to commit more violent crimes, including the tragic murders of Samantha Bisset and her daughter, Jazmine Bisset. In this episode, we cover the devastating details of the attack, the police failures that led to a massive miscarriage of justice, and the long road to healing for Rachel's family. SUBSCRIBERS ONLY: My Strange Arrest: Napping Burglar

Picture a closed pizza shop, late at night, completely empty. Sounds peaceful, right? Now, picture a burglar breaking in, putting on food safety gloves, kneading dough, tossing it in the air, and attempting to make himself a deep dish pizza before realizing he can't find a pan and deciding to steal the delivery car instead. It all started when 25-year-old Oscar broke into Big Slice Pizza in California with what appeared to be a very specific agenda. He rifled through the kitchen, worked the dough like he'd done it a hundred times, and only abandoned his culinary adventure when he found the restaurant's car keys. The delivery vehicle was spotted the very next day, and Oscar was arrested at home looking genuinely shocked to see the police at his door. But the strange arrests don't stop there. This episode is packed with people making truly baffling decisions. We're talking about a man at the Jersey Shore who jumped through the roof of a porta potty for internet clout, then helpfully commented on the viral video himself, making it very easy for police to find him. Then there's a Vermont family that took "protect your kid at all costs" to a whole new level when dad jumped in an excavator and started swinging the bucket at police officers trying to arrest his son for assault. And just when you think you've heard it all, we meet a woman in California who beat up a fast food manager over missing ketchup, a man in Winter Park who spent 11 hours in jail because police mistook his Krispy Kreme donut glaze for crystal meth, and Deon, a burglar who broke into a stranger's home, reached for some jewelry, and promptly fell asleep on the bed, only to wake up in the back of a police cruiser. It's an episode full of questionable plans, zero follow-through, and at least one nap that genuinely changed a man's life for the better.

The Nightmare in North Dakota: The Murder of Angila Wilder

On a freezing November night in 2015, 30-year-old nursing student Angila Wilder was stabbed 44 times inside her home in Minot, North Dakota. The brutal attack happened while her two-year-old son slept safely in the very next room. When her fiancé, Christopher Jackson, discovered the scene after returning from an overnight shift, investigators immediately began untangling a web of jealousy, obsession, and domestic violence. The evidence quickly pointed toward Angila's ex-husband, Ritchie Wilder Jr., and his new wife, Cynthia. What started as a bitter custody dispute had morphed into a calculated, years-long plot to eliminate Angila entirely. The case features one of the most chilling interrogations in true crime history, a failed prison escape, and a stunning undercover recording that finally brought the whole diabolical plan crashing down. SUBSCRIBERS ONLY: My Strange Arrest: Lion Lady

Picture a perfectly normal day at the Bronx Zoo. Families strolling around, kids pointing at animals through the glass. Sounds nice, right? Now, picture a 32-year-old woman hopping the fence, walking right up to a male lion, and waving her arms around like she's about to give him a hug. And then, two years later, coming back in a red dress to throw dollar bills at the same lion while recording it for social media. But the wild arrests don't start there. This episode kicks off in DeLand, Florida, where a machete-wielding robber ditched his getaway car at a gas station, stripped off all his clothes, and started wandering into traffic before finally lying down on the hot pavement to let the police cuff him. Then there's 18-year-old Austin, who stole a bulldozer from a construction site, led police on a five mile per hour chase, and backed over a police car before an officer literally jumped on board to wrestle him out of it. Things get even wilder from there. Guests at a wedding in Longwood, Florida, started feeling very strange after dinner, and it turns out the bride and caterer had laced the food with marijuana without telling anyone. Multiple guests were hospitalized, the wedding cupcakes were bagged as evidence, and the bride is now facing up to 30 years in prison, looking absolutely gorgeous in her mugshot. And just when you think you've heard it all, we meet a sheriff's deputy caught barefoot and bleeding, running wild circles around a spring training baseball field in the middle of the night, a man who nearly choked to death on a bag of marijuana he swallowed during a traffic stop, a mom who let her nine-year-old back up the car while she held onto the steering wheel from outside, and an 82-year-old grandmother in Alabama arrested and handcuffed over an unpaid $285 trash bill. It's an episode full of truly unhinged decisions, baffling logic, and at least one lion who has seen way too much.

Sarah Jo Pender: "The Female Charles Manson"

In October of 2000, the bodies of Andrew Cataldi and Tricia Nordman were found inside a dumpster behind an Indianapolis Teamsters building. The discovery quickly led police to the home the couple shared with Richard Hull and Sarah Jo Pender. What started as a gruesome double murder investigation soon transformed into a sprawling legal saga filled with recanted testimonies, forged letters, and a stunning prison escape. Sarah Jo Pender was labeled the "female Charles Manson" by the prosecution and sentenced to 110 years behind bars. But as the years passed, the case against her began to crumble. With the original prosecutor publicly admitting she did not receive a fair trial and the true killer confessing to the crime, Sarah's fight for freedom continues today from the inside of an Indiana prison cell.
