The Mackenzie Shirilla Case & Netflix's "The Crash"

It was around 6:15 AM on July 31, 2022, when a resident in Strongsville, Ohio, came upon the aftermath of a horrific accident. A black Toyota Camry had crashed into the side of a large brick building at the end of Progress Drive Business Park. When officers responded, they found three young people trapped inside. Passengers Dominic Russo and Davion Flanagan were tragically pronounced dead at the scene, while the 17-year-old driver, Mackenzie Shirilla, was life-flighted in critical condition. At first, investigators believed it was a tragic accident. But a closer look at the details, including the vehicle's data recorder and surveillance footage, revealed a much more sinister truth. We are revisiting this shocking case in anticipation of the new documentary "The Crash," which premieres on Netflix on May 15th. We cover the tumultuous relationship between Mackenzie and Dominic, the terrifying moments leading up to the crash, and the trial that followed. Plus, we share some recent developments in the case, including the release of jailhouse calls and the status of Mackenzie's appeals. Thank you to this week's sponsors! 2. SUBSCRIBERS ONLY: My Strange Arrest: Drunk Horse and Buggy

    1D AGO • SUBSCRIBERS ONLY

SUBSCRIBERS ONLY: My Strange Arrest: Drunk Horse and Buggy

Picture a quiet country road in Ohio. A horse and buggy trotting along, completely peaceful. Sounds nice, right? Now, picture that same horse and buggy wandering aimlessly into traffic while the 21-year-old driver is passed out cold, three sheets to the wind, with a giant wooden speaker blasting tunes right behind his head. It all started when officers in Ashtabula County tried to pull over a runaway buggy. After sirens and shouting failed to wake the driver, the officer tried to stop the horse by parking in front of it. Instead, the buggy slammed right into the back of the squad car, knocking the speaker onto the driver's head and finally waking him up. The result? A trip to jail for operating a vehicle while intoxicated and over $5,000 in restitution. But the strange arrests don't stop there. This episode is packed with people making highly questionable decisions. We're talking about a guy in Florida who stole a jet ski, only to realize he couldn't start it and couldn't swim, forcing police to commandeer a family's boat just to toss him a rope. Then there's the man who showed up to the police station in a full bunny onesie, repeatedly blowing an air horn while trying to turn himself in for a warrant. And just when you think you've heard it all, we revisit the infamous 2019 viral video of a man licking a carton of Blue Bell ice cream in a Texas Walmart, a guy who paused his own arrest to propose to his girlfriend with a cigarette dangling from his mouth, and an interrogation room escape attempt that ended with a bag of cocaine falling out of the ceiling. It's an episode full of bizarre crimes, wild overreactions, and people who really should have just stayed home.

The Disappearance and Murder of Maya Millete

On January 7, 2021, Maya Millete took the first steps toward ending her marriage. She scheduled a consultation with a divorce attorney, planning to wait just a few more days to get through her daughter's birthday weekend before breaking the news to her husband, Larry. But that night, after returning to her Chula Vista home, Maya vanished. We look closely at the months leading up to Maya's disappearance, revealing a pattern of escalating control and manipulation by Larry. From tracking her location to making disturbing internet searches for toxic plants and even paying online spellcasters to make her dependent on him, Larry's behavior grew increasingly erratic. Now, over five years later, we examine the mountain of circumstantial evidence against him and the ongoing search for answers as Larry Millete's murder trial begins on May 11, 2026. 4. SUBSCRIBERS ONLY: My Strange Arrest: Cat Ladies Lockup

    MAY 6 • SUBSCRIBERS ONLY

SUBSCRIBERS ONLY: My Strange Arrest: Cat Ladies Lockup

Picture a quiet neighborhood where two sweet older ladies are just trying to help out the local stray cat population. They spend their time setting traps, getting feral cats spayed and neutered, and doing their best to manage the problem. Sounds nice, right? Now, picture those same two grandmas surrounded by three police cars and threatened with jail time, all over some kitty kibble. It all started when 60-year-old Mary and 84-year-old Beverly were confronted by police in Wetumpka, Alabama. The officers were responding to complaints about the women feeding stray cats on city property. What should have been a simple conversation quickly spiraled out of control. When the officers tried to formally trespass the women, Mary argued back, and Beverly, in a moment of pure 84-year-old frustration, aggressively shoved her car keys into an officer's hand. The result? Both women were handcuffed, hauled off to jail, and hit with criminal trespassing charges. But the strange arrests don't stop there. This episode is packed with people making highly questionable decisions. We're talking about a man in Arkansas who ran through a grocery store completely naked except for a demon mask, pouring gallons of milk over his head while screaming that he was on fire. Then there's the guy in Lakeland, Florida, who decided the best place to enjoy a full pancake and sausage breakfast was sitting at a folding table right in the middle of a busy intersection. And just when you think you've heard it all, we meet a man in reindeer slippers who threw a woman out of her wheelchair on a train just to steal it, only to abandon it two feet later. Plus, we dive into the saga of a woman who returned to a fast food restaurant three separate times to argue about her order, culminating in an assault charge over some unwanted tomatoes and pork sausage. It's an episode full of bizarre crimes, wild overreactions, and mugshots that definitely weren't on anyone's bucket list.

    The Vanishing of Tony Parsons

On a cold September night in the Scottish Highlands, a 63-year-old grandfather set out on a solo cycling journey that he never returned from. Tony Parsons was an experienced endurance athlete riding 104 miles to raise money for charity after surviving prostate cancer. When he vanished without a trace along the remote A82, search teams spent years scouring the rugged terrain with no success. The truth finally surfaced three years later when a forensic pathologist named Dr. Caroline Muirhead came forward with a chilling confession from her new boyfriend, Alexander "Sandy" McKellar. The details revealed not just how Tony died, but the deliberate and cruel steps Sandy and his twin brother Robert took to ensure he would never be found. Thank you to this week's sponsors!
