    361. Sisterhood, Survival & So Much Joy: A Conversation with My Sister Gina Williams

Today you’re in for such a treat — my sister Gina is on the podcast! We’re talking about sisterhood, family, healing, and the kind of bond that’s forged when you’ve walked through life side-by-side. We start with the sweetest recap of our Key West surprise trip for our mom’s 80th birthday (including the restaurant moment that made us all cry… and the golf cart adventures we’ll never forget). Then we zoom out and talk about what it really looks like to stay close as sisters through different seasons — raising kids, becoming grandmothers, and learning how to show up for each other with love and steadiness. Gina also shares about a big transition: after nearly 20 years working in church leadership and administration, she felt a clear “green light” from God to step into a new chapter — and she’s now on our team helping with the finance side of the business. We talk about what it’s like to change careers later in life, and how coaching (and especially Master Coach) has helped her soften, feel, and find real freedom on the inside. This episode is full of laughs, memories, and the kind of conversation that reminds you: you don’t have to do life alone — and it’s never too late to grow. In this episode, we talk about: Surprising our mom in Key West for her 80th birthday (and why it meant so much) What makes sibling relationships thrive (and what doesn’t) How our childhood shaped us differently — even though we lived the same story Gina’s big career transition after two decades in church leadership “I’m fine” energy, emotional suppression, and the brave work of softening Why coaching helps you build a better life on the inside (even if the outside looks the same) The joy of doing life together through motherhood and grandparenthood Mentioned in the episode: The Free People cashmere sweater: https://www.freepeople.com/shop/porta-cashmere-henley/?color=045&countryCode=US&g_acctid=925-773-0063&g_adgroupid=&g_adid=&g_adtype=none&g_campaign=PLAs%20US%20-%20Smart%20Shopping%20PMAX%20US%20-%20Performance%20Max%20-%20Priority&g_campaignid=18784532312&g_keyword=&g_keywordid=&g_network=x&gad_campaignid=18777975543&gad_source=1&gbraid=0AAAAADmlMfkNApZl5TLAg-I-ci3rtn5Qm&gclid=Cj0KCQiA7rDMBhCjARIsAGDBuEBzy0UVSGDc2EPpknINi7wQAxSV841aN08dMu-4v4cbBMMCErKxFJgaAqftEALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds&inventoryCountry=US&utm_kxconfid=vx6ro62gj Learn more about your ad choices. 360. The Quiet Work of Loving Well!

In today’s episode, I’m inviting you into a quieter, more tender conversation about what it really means to love well. This has been a season full of anticipation and preparation in my life — birthdays, babies, travel, knitting projects, extra food on the stove, and lots of behind-the-scenes tending. And on the very same day I recorded this, I was also having a deeply tender day myself — the kind of day that requires real care, emotional honesty, and support. In this episode, I share how the quiet work of loving well often starts with tending to ourselves — especially when life feels full, emotional, or demanding. I talk about how caring for your inner life doesn’t shrink your joy, but actually expands your capacity for it. We’ll explore: What the quiet work of loving well actually looks like in everyday life How anticipation and preparation shape the way we love Why making extra, planning ahead, and living with intention matter more than we think The importance of receiving care just as much as giving it How ordinary acts, done with love, shape a meaningful and joyful life This episode is a gentle reminder that love doesn’t always look loud or dramatic. Often, it looks like knitting a scarf, making an extra batch of soup, tending to your own heart, and showing up with intention — again and again. I hope this conversation encourages you to slow down, soften, and notice how love is already expanding your life in quiet, beautiful ways. Learn more about your ad choices. 359. 10 Simple Ways to Show Love (That Actually Change Everything)

It’s officially love month, and we’re leaning all the way in. In this episode, Edie and Emme share 10 (okay… maybe 12) practical, real-life ways to show love—the kind that actually makes people feel seen, safe, and cared for. We start with a mindset shift we learned years ago: lovability doesn’t come from the other person—it comes from your ability to love them. Which means you have more agency than you think to create love in your relationships, regardless of circumstances. Then we get super tangible: the everyday, ordinary things that become extraordinary when they’re “clothed in love.” Why love is a choice and a skill you can grow How making food (especially soup) can be one of the most powerful acts of love The importance of human touch (hello “compassion circles” + holding hands) One of the most underrated forms of love: cleaning something for someone quietly (without martyr energy) How making things beautiful is a real way to care for the people around you Why it’s loving to pause before reacting—especially in parenting + relationships The “small thing” that helps you stay loving: do one thing that makes you feel like you How giving someone your full attention (aka putting the phone down) is one of the most expensive gifts you can give The power of apologizing quickly and repairing fast Thoughtfulness that lands every time: cards, notes, tiny gifts, and “I thought of you” moments Our favorite practice: a LOVE SPREE—writing down everything you love about someone…and then telling them Pick one person. Write down everything you love about them. And then—don’t keep it to yourself—tell them today. Because you’ll feel the love while you’re thinking it… and they’ll feel it when you share it. 358. The Emotion No One Talks About That’s Draining Your Joy

This episode was born out of a weekend that cracked my heart wide open. My siblings and I surprised my mama for her 80th birthday in Key West, and watching her soak in love and connection made me reflect on something I see all the time in midlife women — and something I’ve had to work through myself. There’s one emotion that quietly drains our joy, steals our energy, and keeps us living in a low-grade heaviness… and most women don’t even realize it’s there because it doesn’t always show up as anger. It shows up as irritability. Emotional flatness. Apathy. That “I don’t even know what I want anymore” feeling. It can even look like being capable and responsible… but secretly exhausted and resentful underneath it all. Today we’re talking about resentment — why it creeps in, how it keeps your body in survival mode, and how it silently poisons the person holding it (even when we think it’s about someone else). We’ll also talk about what I learned from my mom: emotional freedom is possible, and joy is often much closer than you think. And if you’re craving real support learning how to process emotions, expand your capacity, and build emotional wealth — I’m doing something I don’t normally do: we’re opening Life Mentoring School for 3 days. Even if you join for one month, come get the tools. Come learn how to feel lighter. Resentment isn’t who you are. It’s who you became to survive. And you’re safe now to soften. 357. 5 Pieces of Advice We’re So Glad We Didn’t Take!

Well hi, dear ones! Today’s episode is a fun one. We wanted to do something a little lighter, a little more “front porch chat”… but still so good. We’re sharing five pieces of advice we’re genuinely grateful we didn’t take — because whew, we live in an age where everyone has an opinion on how you should live, love, work, and make decisions. And a lot of that “advice” sounds wise… until you actually try to build a life you love. So consider this your permission slip to pause, question the narrative, and decide what’s true for you. Why I’m glad I didn’t stay stuck in the “steady 9–5 is the only safe way” mindset The relationship advice floating around the internet that can quietly breed resentment (and what we think is healthier) My personal hot take: more is more (more joy, more love, more beauty, more life) Why “wait until you’re ready” is often just fear in a cute outfit — and how to move anyway The best reframe of all: get your hopes up (because not getting your hopes up is basically being disappointed in advance) the Aerie sweat set (especially pregnancy-friendly!) https://www.ae.com/us/en/p/aerie/clothing/loungewear/offline-by-aerie-ott-fleece-super-wide-leg-pant/1703_1248_012?menu=cat1090003&ip=off&utm_source=google&utm_medium=pla&utm_content=aerie&utm_campaign=nogender_bottoms_general&utm_term=nonbrand&utm_id=20001158336&gad_source=1&gad_campaignid=20001158336&gbraid=0AAAAADovoqLTyCTYF-Ktn9_X34NiA4okY&gclid=Cj0KCQiAhOfLBhCCARIsAJPiopMqrE-xkIolWqogrAbqamy8BW2pQcqJF_ghrw1Wz4dNjgJ38JR7B4kaAhvGEALw_wcB  https://www.ae.com/us/en/p/aerie/clearance/clothing/tops/sweatshirts-hoodies/offline-by-aerie-ott-seamed-quarter-zip-sweatshirt/2164_2141_012 The Rhode peptide lip tint in “Ribbon” https://www.rhodeskin.com/products/peptide-lip-tint-ribbon?srsltid=AfmBOopuzGvRF3-ue0v9P9EcXmNG61BmXoXBSsaYiQAD-L5RQCkman6O  My upgraded method for the lemon chicken rice soup (so flavorful) https://substack.com/home/post/p-185682117 If you loved this episode, come tell us on Instagram: What advice are YOU officially not taking anymore? 356. What If You Haven’t Even Scratched the Surface? The Joy, Purpose, and Life You Haven’t Touched Yet.

What if you haven’t even scratched the surface of the life you could have? In this episode, I invite you into a question that has been lingering in my own heart lately — especially as I reflect on a full, beautiful year and look ahead with fresh curiosity and hope. So many women I work with love their lives and are deeply grateful… yet still feel a quiet sense of disengagement. Life looks good on the outside, but inside something feels muted. Less alive. Less lit up than it once did. Today, we explore the idea that your life isn’t limited by your circumstances — it’s shaped from the inside out. There is no ceiling on the amount of joy, meaning, connection, purpose, or aliveness you’re allowed to experience. The question is: where might you be unintentionally placing limits on yourself? In this episode, we talk about: Why midlife can feel dull even when life is “good” How joy, purpose, and meaning are created internally — not externally The difference between needing rest and needing aliveness How under-expression and disengagement lead to quiet exhaustion What might change if you believed there was more available to you How to stop blocking what wants to move through you This conversation is an invitation — not to hustle, strive, or chase something new — but to soften, open, and re-engage with your own life. To ask yourself where joy, curiosity, and desire might be waiting for permission again. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
