EP 801: Don't Be Frustrated and in Denial! Dr. Mistry Can Fix Problems of the Penile!

🎙️ In this week’s episode of The Armor Men’s Health Show, Dr. Mistry and Donna Lee are back with more listener questions—and these are some good ones! Listener Question #1: “Dr. Mistry, I’m a listener and the proud owner of a three-piece penile implant for one year. Dr. Yang did an excellent job with the procedure, and I’ve had no issues with healing or mechanical function. I’m in excellent health and on a weekly TRT regimen. However, I have difficulty achieving orgasm during intercourse and even masturbation. Even when highly aroused, it’s difficult to achieve orgasm consistently. I had an L4-L5 spinal fusion over two years ago that resulted in my erectile dysfunction. I’d be happy to talk with Dr. Yang, but I wanted to get your opinion as well.” Dr. Mistry breaks down some of the possible reasons behind difficulty reaching orgasm after spinal surgery and explains why erectile function and the ability to orgasm are not necessarily the same thing. Listener Question #2: “My husband is a Type 2 diabetic, and over the years his semen volume has decreased. I thought this might be related to low testosterone. He was previously on testosterone replacement pellets, but his red blood cell count became very high and he was advised to stop treatment. He has tried everything to treat his ED, and in December he received a three-piece penile implant. He recently ejaculated while pleasing me, even though we did not touch the pump. He feels fine, but his six-week checkup is still a ways out. Could he possibly go back on testosterone therapy using injections instead? What can be done to increase semen volume? Have you discussed decreased semen volume in men with diabetes? I’m wondering why this has happened and whether testosterone replacement might help.” Dr. Mistry takes a deep dive into these complicated—and very common—men’s health concerns, including diabetes, testosterone replacement therapy, elevated red blood cell counts, semen volume, ejaculation, erectile dysfunction, and penile implants. 💡 And here’s something to think about: When you send us a listener question, you’re getting a detailed answer from a prominent, experienced, board-certified urologist—for FREE! It may be more time and explanation than you’ve ever gotten with a urologist during an office visit. 😉 So keep those questions coming! 🎧 Tune in every week, share The Armor Men’s Health Show with your friends, and send your questions to Dr. Mistry and Donna Lee through armormenshealth.com. ❤️ We sure appreciate our listeners! 🏆 Voted Top Men’s Health Podcast, Sex Therapy Podcast and Prostate Cancer Podcast by FeedSpot 🎙️ Meet Your Hosts Dr. Sandeep "Sunny" Mistry is a board-certified urologist who has proudly served patients in Austin and Greater Williamson County since opening his private practice in 2007. EP 800: It's Just Not Right...If You Have to Pee in the Night! Be Gone, Nocturia!

In this week’s episode of The Armor Men’s Health Show, Dr. Mistry and Donna Lee are back answering more of your listener questions! Listener Question #1: “Dr. Mistry, I go to the bathroom four to five times a night. How can you treat this? I’m 65.” Listener Question #2: “I’m 54 and for several years I experienced increasing urinary frequency and extreme urgency—sometimes having less than a minute to find a bathroom. My PSA was 4.8, and an MRI showed a shadow on one side of my prostate, but subsequent biopsies were negative for cancer. I also have a family history of prostate cancer and have experienced nocturia. More recently, my urgency has disappeared and I can sometimes go most of the day without urinating. I was prescribed tamsulosin, but it didn’t agree with me. Is this something you’ve seen before?” If you’re getting up more than once during the night to urinate, you’re not alone—and there may be more going on than you realize. Dr. Mistry breaks down nocturia, or frequent nighttime urination, and explains some of its potential causes, including poor sleep quality, incomplete bladder emptying, overactive bladder, pelvic floor spasticity, and polyuria (producing too much urine). Dr. Mistry also discusses elevated PSA levels, prostate evaluation, urinary urgency and frequency, and why changes in urinary symptoms deserve a closer look. The good news? You don’t have to spend your nights making endless trips to the bathroom! The providers at NAU Urology Specialists take a comprehensive approach and use advanced testing to help determine what’s causing your symptoms and develop an appropriate treatment plan. If you or someone you love struggles with frequent or urgent nighttime urination or other urinary symptoms, call 512-238-0762 or visit northaustinurology.com to schedule a consultation. EP 797: Grappling with Prostate Cancer? Dr. Mistry Always Has the Answer!

🎙️ This week on The Armor Men’s Health Show, Dr. Mistry and Donna Lee are back in the mailbag answering more of YOUR listener questions! 📬 First up, a listener has undergone a couple of procedures for an enlarged prostate, including a “vacuum” procedure and Rezūm. His prostate now measures 83 cc on MRI, and after years of taking medications that caused unwanted side effects—including retrograde ejaculation—he’s ready to explore other options. His question: Could PAE (Prostatic Artery Embolization) be a logical next step before considering more invasive procedures? 🤔 Then, we tackle an important question about prostate adenocarcinoma and treatment options. What are the pros and cons of HIFU (High-Intensity Focused Ultrasound)? Who might be a good candidate? And what should men know about the potential for erectile dysfunction afterward? As always, Dr. Mistry goes into detail, breaks down the medical jargon, and gives you information you can actually understand and use. 🩺👏 There’s a LOT to learn in this episode, so tune in, share it with your friends, and keep those listener questions coming! 🎧💙 The Armor Men’s Health Show — because sometimes the questions you’re afraid to ask are the ones you most need answered! 🏆 The Armor Men's Health Show has been recognized by FeedSpot as a Top Men's Health Podcast, Top Sex Therapy Podcast, and Top Prostate Cancer Podcast. EP 795: For Your Sexual Experiences, Don't Be Shy! You Might Have Erectile Dysfunction and Dr. Yang Will Tell You Why!

Hey there, you magnificent, marvelous and downright handsome humans! 🎙️✨ In this episode, Dr. Mistry and Donna Lee welcome Urology Specialists of Austin's own Dr. Christopher Yang for an eye-opening conversation about erectile dysfunction (ED)—what causes it, why it happens, and why treatment isn't one-size-fits-all. Many men assume ED is just a normal part of aging, but there are often underlying medical reasons that deserve a closer look. The team explains the comprehensive evaluations available at Armor Men's Health, including hormone testing through specialized blood work, ultrasound imaging to evaluate penile blood flow, and physical exams to identify scar tissue or other structural concerns. But they don't stop there. Because sexual health is closely connected to overall health, they also discuss how conditions like hypothyroidism, sleep apnea, anxiety, depression, and even medication interactions can all play a role in ED. Sometimes the solution is as simple as adjusting how or when a medication is taken—or identifying an entirely different health issue that needs attention. Whether your symptoms are new, you've struggled for years, or you're simply looking for answers instead of guesswork, this episode explains why a thorough evaluation can make all the difference. Tune in to learn how the team at Armor Men's Health and Urology Specialists of Austin helps men get to the root of the problem and create personalized treatment plans that restore both confidence and quality of life. EP 794: Tired of BPH Symptoms, We Presume? There are Lots of Options Including Urolift and Rezum!

Hey, guys! If you're dealing with BPH (benign prostatic hyperplasia)...IYKYK! 😅 Are you tired of getting up several times a night to pee? Frustrated because you never feel like you've completely emptied your bladder? Dealing with that annoying post-pee dribble that can be downright embarrassing? If any of that sounds familiar, you don't have to keep suffering! In this episode of The Armor Men's Health Show, Dr. Mistry and Donna Lee answer a listener's question about one of the potential side effects of the Rezūm® procedure for an enlarged prostate: retrograde ejaculation. Is it treatable? Dr. Mistry explains why it happens, what can be done about it, and what men should know before choosing a BPH treatment. The conversation also explores how dramatically enlarged prostate treatment has evolved over the past 40 years. What was once limited to the traditional TURP procedure—often nicknamed the "Roto-Rooter" surgery—has expanded into several highly effective, minimally invasive treatments that can often be performed right in the urologist's office with less downtime and quicker recovery. Dr. Mistry compares two of today's most popular BPH procedures, Rezūm® and UroLift®, discussing the pros and cons of each, who makes a good candidate, potential side effects, and what patients can realistically expect after treatment. If you're wondering which option might be right for you, this episode is packed with practical information to help you have a more informed conversation with your urologist. To schedule an appointment and learn more about Rezūm®, UroLift®, or the many other BPH treatment options available at NAU Urology Specialists, call (512) 238-0762. EP 793: Something Causing You Pains and Moans? We'll Answer Your Questions About Kidney Stones!

In this episode of The Armor Men's Health Show, Dr. Mistry and Donna Lee dive into more listener questions—and, as usual, things get educational, entertaining, and just a little inappropriate. 😂 First up: How much water is TOO much water? One listener knows he's supposed to stay hydrated and help prevent kidney stones, but he's drinking so much water that he's constantly running to the bathroom! Dr. Mistry explains how much urine your bladder should typically be able to hold (about 10 ounces—the size of a can of soda) and why feeling the constant urge to go could mean your bladder isn't sending the right signals. They also discuss overactive bladder treatments, procedures, and smart kidney stone prevention. And because it's the Armor Men's Health Show...yes, penile rings somehow make their way into the conversation. Again. 😂 Dr. Mistry explains how men may be using them incorrectly and what you need to know. Next, a listener asks about calcium and kidney stones. His wife says he isn't getting enough calcium, but he insists he eats "tons of butter and cheese." LOL. We know where this is headed. 🧀 Dr. Mistry tackles his concern that calcium supplements could cause kidney stones and debunks the common myth that calcium should be avoided simply because it's often found in kidney stones. He also explains why getting enough calcium is so important for maintaining strong bone health. Join us every week for fascinating health discussions, surprising answers, plenty of laughs, and answers to YOUR questions! Have a question for Dr. Mistry and Donna Lee?
