352 – You Have the Mind of Christ: It’s Time to Use it

It's Freedom Friday What if you could think and pray like Jesus did?  What if you could love the way Jesus did? Does that even seem possible? What keeps us from doing that? Sometimes you might think there’s no way you could of be like Jesus and that it’s not even worth trying. Or maybe you’re afraid to love as much as he did. It’s just too much to commit to.  But Jesus wanted and expected everyone who believed in him to follow his example of living and loving.  In fact, Paul repeats this idea in a letter to the church in Corinth, “We have the mind of Christ.” (See I Corinthians 2:16) In this episode of Freedom Friday, we’re going to talk about  What it means to have the mind of Christ How you can begin to think, pray, and love more like Jesus.∞∞∞∞∞∞∞ SHOW NOTES: Full transcript at thebiblespeakstoyou.com/352 Text me your questions or comments. 351 – Are You Bold Enough to Ask for a Double Portion of Elijah’s Spirit

351 – What do you ask for in your prayers? A new job, a good relationship, to be healed of an emotional problem or physical disease?  What about asking God for guidance in what to do with your life and how to fulfill your purpose? Sometimes we ask God for small things and sometimes our prayers have a broader scope.  But all too often we don’t go as broad and as deep as we could in what we ask for in prayer.   Considering everything that’s going on in the world right now, it’s time to be bold in what we ask for, like Elisha when he asked for a double portion of Elijah’s spirit. In this episode, we’re going to talk about what that means and how you and I can do it today. ∞∞∞∞∞∞∞ SHOW NOTES: For a full transcript and all Bible quotes thebiblespeakstoyou.com/351 Text me your questions or comments. 350 – Accept Your True, Spiritual Identity as the Image and Likeness of God

350 – Do you know your spiritual identity? It's FREEDOM FRIDAY How often do you really stop and ponder that you are a child of God? All too often we identify ourselves based on what we have done or not done, the accomplishments or the failures we’ve had. And it’s very easy to fall into identifying yourself with the sins and mistakes you’ve made over the years.  But the way you see yourself, the way you identify yourself, determines to a large degree how you will act and interact with others. God has created you in His image likeness. That is your true spiritual identity. The more clearly you see yourself in this light, the more freedom you’ll find from past mistakes and labels of limitation. And that’s what this episode of Freedom Friday is all about. ∞∞∞∞∞∞∞ PLAYLIST about spiritual identity: The Journey of Self Discovery SHOW NOTES: Full transcript and Bible quotes–thebiblespeakstoyou.com/350 Text me your questions or comments. 349 – A Better Way to Pray about Corruption in Government

349 – Are you praying for your government? If you take an unbiased look at the government of countries all over the world, you’ll often find some degree of corruption.  Sometimes it doesn’t run very deep but other times senior leaders and the heads of government themselves are the source of corruption. This has been going on since governments began. Is there a solution? Even when politicians claim they try to get rid of all corruption, it’s a difficult thing to accomplish. Many governments don’t try at all and are causing the problem. As Christians, what can you and I do about this problem?  Should we get involved in politics, public demonstrations, or social activism, letter writing campaigns, calling government officials? What you decide to do is totally up to you, and not every Christian is going to feel compelled to fight corruption these ways.  What we all can do is pray.  But should we pray for a government when it’s corrupt? Does prayer even make a difference with such a huge problem? There are lots of different ways to pray about this.  How can we pray more effectively to get rid of corruption in government?  Previous episodes mentioned Episode 240: How Would Jesus Heal Political Division?                                      Episode 190: Quit trying to change something when you pray. ∞∞∞∞∞∞∞ SHOW NOTES: Full transcript and Bible quotes–thebiblespeakstoyou.com/349 Text me your questions or comments. 348 – Your Sins Are Not Part of Your Spiritual Identity

348 – What defines your spiritual identity? Do you ever struggle to find freedom from guilt over things that happened in the past?  You’re trying to follow Christ and live your life in obedience to all Jesus says, but sometimes it’s hard to let go of the guilt from things you did years ago, or maybe even just yesterday. You know that God has forgiven you, but once in a while, those past sins and mistakes weigh heavy on your heart. Is it possible to find freedom from all that guilt from things you did wrong in the past? Of course it is. When you see that those sins and mistakes from your past have never been part of your true spiritual identity, and focus on who you are as a child of God, you’ll find freedom from the guilt and step into who God made you to be. And that’s what we’re talking about on this episode of Freedom Friday. ∞∞∞∞∞∞∞ SHOW NOTES: Full transcript and Bible quotes--thebiblespeakstoyou.com/348 Text me your questions or comments. 347 – When No One Understands You

347 – What do you do when no one understands you? Have you ever been with a group of close friends and you share some pretty deep ideas you’ve been thinking about, but then everyone looks at you like you’re crazy.  They have no idea what you’re talking about.  You try to explain, but they’re still clueless, their eyes glaze over, and they go back to discussing with great enthusiasm, something that seems trivial and inconsequential. The same thing happens with your family.  You share ideas from way down inside of your heart about life or what you think your purpose is and you get those blank stares. Or they say you need to be more practical. It can be really frustrating when it seems like no one understands you.  Who do you talk to? What do you do? Is there any way not to feel so lonely?  In this episode, you’ll learn  Why some people will never understand you What needs to happen before you find the folks who will understand youWhat you can do to find the people who will understand and be supportive of you.SHOW NOTES: For a full transcript and all the Bible quotes: thebiblespeakstoyou.com/347 Article mentioned: Being Grateful when People Reject Your Purpose Previous episode mentioned: Episode 256: The Biblical Cure for Loneliness Text me your questions or comments. 346 – Accept God's Forgiveness, Grace, and Love

346 – Freedom Friday! Have you ever found it hard to accept God’s forgiveness?  The mistakes you’ve made and the sins you’ve committed just seem too much for God to wink at, much less forgive? When you carry around the guilt, along with the feeling you don’t deserve God’s love and forgiveness, it can be a terrible burden that keeps you from living the life of joy and freedom God has in store for you. When someone gives you a gift, what do you do? You accept it, open it, and use it, wear it, eat it, or whatever it’s designed to do. When God gives the gift of His love, grace, and forgiveness, you can do exactly the same thing: accept it and use it.  And that’s what we’re talking about on this episode of Freedom Friday.
