380 – Would you like to sit at the feet of Jesus? Have you ever wondered what it would’ve been like to hear Jesus teach and preach? To see him heal people? To ask him to heal you?  Would you have followed him or opposed him?  Would your pride have rebelled at the strong moral demands he made on his followers?  Or would you have sat at his feet, humbly listening to everything he had to say? Hopefully the latter.  In this week’s episode: What it means to sit at the feet of Jesus and learn from him How we can still do this todayThe blessings that come from itThe people in the Bible who sat at Jesus feet and whyThe difference between sitting at and falling down at Jesus's feetSitting at the feet of Jesus today is a metaphor for being in Christ’s presence.  The more you come into Christ’s presence in this way, the more you make yourself available to be instructed, inspired, and healed by Christ. ∞∞∞∞∞∞∞ Previous episode mentioned: Episode 203: What if Jesus Preached at Your Church?  SHOW NOTES: For a full transcript and the Bible quotes go to thebiblespeakstoyou.com/380 Text me your questions or comments. 379 – The Biggest Mistake Most Christians Make about What it Means to Be a Christian

379 – What does it mean to be a Christian? There’s a mistake the Christian church has been making for hundreds of years, 1,700 years to be more accurate, that has radically changed the way Christians identify and represent themselves in the world, as well as among themselves. The sad truth is that most Christians don’t realize they’re making this mistake or that it has such a long history. In fact, they find comfort in it and think what they’re doing is totally appropriate. But this shift in 325 C.E. has often taken the church down a path that has led away from the original Christianity of Jesus and the importance of putting his teachings into practice, and instead made the church more legalistic and dogmatic. In this episode, we’re going to look at  This mistakeHow it still affects the Christian church todayHow it goes against the original message of Jesus and how he described what it meant to be one of his disciples or followers, or what we call today, a Christian And more importantly, we’re going to talk about what you can do to correct this mistake, whether it’s you or someone else, your church or someone else’s church, making itWhat you believe is important, in fact crucial, but Jesus requires obedience to his teachings in our daily lives if we want to be considered his followers. ∞∞∞∞∞∞∞ Previous episode mentioned: Episode 224: Why Should I Believe in the Nicene Creed?  SHOW NOTES: For a full transcript of this episode and all the Bible quotes, go to thebiblespeakstoyou.com/379 Text me your questions or comments. 377 – The Kind of True Confidence Jesus Wants You to Have

377 – Where does your confidence come from? Are you a confident person?  Or do you sometimes feel a lack of confidence in yourself that keeps you from accomplishing things or even attempting to do something?  Or maybe you’re confident about some things and not so confident about others. All too often, we get our confidence or lack of confidence from external factors like...family heritage, education, how much money you have, how you look in the mirror. But true confidence can only come from  Godunderstanding your relationship with Godknowing you are a child of Godknowing God loves youThe best way to increase your true confidence is to practice your faith, to follow the teachings of Jesus. When you are conscious of God’s will and obey it, you are no longer trusting in your own abilities, your own wisdom, your own will power to get things done. You’re listening for God’s voice and following His guidance.  And this is the basis for true confidence. ∞∞∞∞∞∞∞ SHOW NOTES: For a full transcript and Bible quotes, go to thebiblespeakstoyou.com/377 Text me your questions or comments. 376 – The Difference Between Biblical Longsuffering and Just Putting Up with Things

376 – Is longsuffering good or bad? You’re probably familiar with the word longsuffering.  It’s in the Bible, at least some translations of the Bible, multiple times. Sometimes it’s translated as patience. And longsuffering is usually considered a virtue in the Bible. We are supposed to be patient with each other and not over-react when things don’t go the way we want. But sometimes in the process of trying to be longsuffering, it’s easy to get discouraged because the thing or the person you’re trying to be patient with gives no hint of changing or getting better or even being aware of how you’re being negatively affected. In this week’s episode, we’re going to  Explore what the Bible says about longsufferingWhen it can be a very positive mindset to haveHow to avoid letting it go too far where you feel you’re just putting up with bad behavior and maybe even being taken advantage ofIt's not about suffering a long timeThe core spiritual essence of patience or longsufferingBiblical longsuffering is not putting up with or ignoring inappropriate attitudes or behavior.  It's becoming more and more conscious of how God has empowered you to think and act.  And most of all, it’s seeing and rejoicing that God is actively involved in your life, and see and trusting He is working in the lives of all His children.  ∞∞∞∞∞∞∞ SHOW NOTES: For a full transcript and all the Bible quotes, go to thebiblespeakstoyou.com/376 Text me your questions or comments. 375 – How Often Do You Tell God You Love Him?

375 – Do you ever tell God you Love Him? When you’re going through a challenge, one of the most comforting things to remember is that God loves you. And it’s not just saying the words that help, but actually feeling God’s love and care for you in that particular moment. But what if instead we focused on our love for God the next time a challenge comes up?  In this episode, we’re going to talk about  the importance of telling God you love Himnot just saying the wordsseveral ways to "tell" God you love Himletting your life show your love for GodAnd we’ll talk about the blessings that come as a result. ∞∞∞∞∞∞∞ SHOW NOTES: For a full transcript and all Bible quotes go to thebiblepseakstoyou.com/375 Text me your questions or comments. 373 –Experiencing God's Redemptive Grace in Real Life

373 – Have you experienced God's redemptive grace in your life? What did that feel like? How did it transform your life? One of the most often quoted verses in the Bible is from Chapter 2 of Ephesians For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—(Ephesians 2:8  NIV) But if you talk to enough people, it’s pretty obvious there are lots of different definitions or perspectives on what grace is and how it works in our lives. And there are different aspects of grace, just like there are many facets in a diamond. My guest today is Jennifer Sakata, an ordained pastor in the Presbyterian Church USA. We’re going to talk specifically about God’s redemptive grace. This is the grace that redeems us from our mistakes, the sins we’ve committed, and all the ways we’ve been hurt over the years.  In this episode: God is writing a story in your life and the life of everyoneThe connection  between grace and our relationship to GodWhat is real grace for real life? The one thing you need to acknowledge to be able to receive God’s graceHow to create space for grace to show up in your lifeThe difference between “on the ground grace” and grace as a theological conceptThe Psalm you should read if you feel far away from GodWhat happened in her mom’s life after praying for her for 40+ yearsWhat does gratitude do that helps  us receive more grace?∞∞∞∞∞∞∞ SHOW NOTES: Full transcript and Bible quotes at thebiblespeakstoyou.com/373 Text me your questions or comments.
