Couple Things with Shawn and Andrew

I’ve always been a fan of the show but really got into it when you guys started talking about Special Forces. I had never even heard of it but got locked into your season, and couldn’t stop! This is crazy to think about and I don’t know how you made it so far. My husband did the navy before we met and I can’t imagine the hellish training he endured. I love the series, your marriage reminds me of ours sometimes. Thanks for what you do!

Shawn I can relate so much. I loved everything, but your husband needs to stop fixing and laughing. I’m sure you’re used to it and it doesn’t bother you, but it really triggered me. The amount of selfawarness you have was showing me he didn’t quite get it or maybe he was just making conversation, who really knows. I wish when you guys used the peanuts in the lunchbox idea, that you would’ve thought more about a child like mine who could’ve died because of that, not the fact that your son wouldn’t have had his favorite foods. The school would’ve given him food. The point of no peanuts is to protect the children with the allergies, point blank. That’s the only thing I agree with your husband on with the whole Mom guilt topic when he said his dad was less concerned about those things. I just kept waiting for you to bring up how peanuts could kill another child but you didn’t. You’re very self-aware though so I’m sure you already have thought about that and likely just didn’t say it. You guys are great and such an inspirational couple. These are some of my favorite episodes!

I have been listening to this podcast for a couple of years now and I think Shawn and Andrew overall produce great content. In the most recent episode about faith, I agreed with much of what Andrew was trying to say and was able to fill in the gaps to some thoughts that maybe weren’t articulated as well as they could have been. Andrew has been tackling some heavy topics lately and I’m convinced that Shawn enjoys arguing more than listening to his perspective. I’m tired of her splitting hairs so often! They often have the same perspective but Shawn just has to nit pick the wording of it all. I think she brings in great perspective from someone that is less analytical and more emotionally driven, but the podcast would be much more enjoyable to listen to without so much argumentation. I felt this way about the topic they covered on not needing to make your spouse happy as well. In the end, our purpose, happiness, and fulfillment comes from pursing Christ. Happiness from a relationship with Christ is permanent. Happiness from a spouse is fleeting and should never be the main source. I totally get what Andrew has been trying to communicate. I also think Shawn is constantly assuming Andrew’s motives and she needs to focus less on assuming and more on listening.

I’m struggling so much to listen to the latest episode. Andrew was basically trying to explain that whatever you’re idolizing in your life is your God. Yes, There is only one God. But if you idolize the games in your life or your children or whatever it is, that becomes your God (on how you worship it and put so much stock in that thing) and you’re not actually putting GOD FIRST. Shawn is being very critical and not letting him explain or get through his explanation and saying she completely disagrees when she doesn’t even understand what he is saying. This was a tough listen.
