Serial Napper is true crime for the chronically tired. I heard about this podcast through one of my favorite (other) podcasts, Our True Crime Podcast. So happy they introduced Serial Napper to their audience (me)!! I’m loving it and love that I have plenty of catching up to do 🙂

Jersey Girl in Vermont

The host of this Podcast has the sweetest , most caring voice. Her episodes are interesting and cases I have never heard of before. Glad I found this podcast. She keeps you interested from beginning til end.

Alright, Brown people, this podcast is not for us. I started noticing subtle bias throughout the episodes, but one case really confirmed it for me. When the victim was a blonde-haired, blue-eyed white woman, the host spent several minutes talking about how beautiful, perfect, and special she was. But in another episode about a Black woman who was murdered, the focus shifted almost immediately to the fact that she got pregnant young. The same thing happened in an episode about a Native American man who was murdered. Instead of centering his life or humanity, the story focused heavily on crimes he had committed in the past. That contrast said everything to me. Some victims were humanized, while others felt judged or reduced to stereotypes, and it became hard not to notice the implicit bias in the storytelling.
