Was okay… for a while. One of the hosts genuinely doesn’t seem to understand half the content he reads. One of the others comes across as pretentious. Otherwise, I generally found their discussions interesting enough to keep listening and considered myself a minor fan, even if I had my mild criticisms overall. (Can be a bit dry, awkward chemistry between hosts, main host can’t resist spoilers and teases them way too much for first-time readers IMO, didn’t always agree with their conclusions and felt like they missed obvious connections)
While I knew they had different religious views than I have or the author of the very books they discuss has, that they felt the need to speak with disdain about a same-sex relationship being represented with positivity because of their religious views was the end of my ability to listen. The host that led that discussion? His favorite character murders people left and right in the majority of the main book series by the way, if we’re going to be talking about “sin.” (“I can excuse murder, but I draw the line at homosexual relationships” like… ok)
With all due respect (which is very little in my opinion), if you have any ounce of respect or admiration for the author of the these books (who is also religious, for the record), you all would do well to re-examine the way you speak about thy neighbors.
FN: You hurt and alienated your non-hetero listeners (yes! we were here all along, tainting your audience!) but I suppose you likely don’t care about that. That’s okay - this review is simply a warning so that new listeners who care about this topic can be warned.
