Happy Death Day (2017) & Happy Death Day 2U (2019): "Perfect Double Feature"

When life gives you lemons, you make lemonade. And when the universe gives you a second birthday episode, you make it a double feature. Luckily, Chelsea knows just the right flicks to pick — and they happen to be on theme. Birthday-time-loop-slasher stories Happy Death Day (2017) and Happy Death Day 2U (2019) are best viewed back-to-back, and they're both a hell of a lot of fun. Perfectly straddling genre lines, these horror-rom-comedies (hocoros?) will have you feeling the full spectrum of human emotion. They also feature all kinds of creative death scenes, and with Jessica Rothe as the face of the franchise, you'll be on the edge of your seat for each and every one. On our latest Spooky Tuesday, we're talking about our favorite kills, our college crushes, and shouting out these movies' most iconic lines.Want to join the celebrations? You can buy yourself a spooky little present! We've got an exciting new merch design available on shirts, sweatshirts, and tote bags(!!!!), and we've also got Spooky Tuesday logo beanies ready to keep your head warm all the way 'til spring. Our shop is open for presale starting September 10 at 12:00 a.m. PST,  and you’ve got until Tuesday, September 24 at 11:59 p.m. to get your order in. 2. I Saw the TV Glow (2024): "The Horror of Introspection"

I Saw the TV Glow (2024): "The Horror of Introspection"

There's still time... to watch I Saw the TV Glow (2024) before this week's episode, Spookies. And it's sort of required viewing if you want to join us as we explore the neon, nostalgic world of Jane Schoenbrun's sophomore film. An unsettling slow-burn starring Justice Smith and Brigette Lundy-Paine with special guests Amber Benson, Fred Durst, and Phoebe Bridgers, this flick throws it back to an earlier time when waiting for the new episode of your favorite show so you could watch it with your bestie was absolutely everything. Let's be real, though. If you're like us (someone who... likes TV), it can still be everything. Join us as we immerse ourselves in the universe of The Pink Opaque and kick off of the fall with a hearty soup party. Yayyy, soup party!!You know what else is a fun way to celebrate fall? Doing a little spooky shopping! 3. Scary Movie (2000) & Scream (1996): "Innards on the Outards"

    AUG 27

Scary Movie (2000) & Scream (1996): "Innards on the Outards"

We've hit a big milestone, Spookies! It's officially our 200th episode, and we wanted to do something special to celebrate. We weren't sure what, though, so we left our movie selection up to our listeners and Patrons, and they decided to throw it back to Scary Movie (2000). The Wayans family's parody flick took on some of the major horror franchises of the '90s, and its inclusion in our line-up was timed perfectly to I Know What You Did Last ? SUMMER ?. But we realized that it would be pretty much impossible to talk about this flick without also getting back into Scream (1996) — so we're instituting our first Spooky Take2sDay, too. Join us for a double feature as we compare and contrast these genre-defining films and wax a little nostalgic about our four year-long journey as a podcast. References:https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/movies/movie-features/scream-movie-cast-stories-1235038248/ https://ew.com/movies/2017/10/26/scary-movie-oral-history/ https://variety.com/2020/film/news/scary-movie-marlon-wayans-anna-faris-20th-anniversary-1234697219/ https://bloody-disgusting.com/editorials/3625783/looking-back-scary-movie-20-years-later/https://screenrant.com/scary-movie-franchise-behind-scenes-secrets-trivia-facts/https://www.cracked.com/article_35759_in-the-early-2000s-parody-films-werent-popular-then-the-wayans-made-scary-movie.htmlhttps://screenrant.com/scary-movie-missed-jokes-references/Send us a text
