From the Fabricator! S5E16- Joe Kaiser (Herzog Glass) Michael Duncan (Viwinco Window)

The latest edition of the “From the Fabricator” podcast is now live, and we go coast to coast with two tremendous guys.  I start in Seattle with Joe Kaiser of Herzog Glass.  Thoughtful and brilliant guy, and the chance to learn more about him and the world inside Herzog was fun.  Plus more tidbits on glazing the Space Needle.  Then to the East Coast in Pennsylvania with Michael Duncan of Viwinco Windows.  I’m not super strong on that side of the industry, so it was an excellent opportunity to learn from a significant disruptor in that space.  Michael also steps outside of the box and embraces technology and innovation- surely part of the reason for Vinwinco’s success.  Good stuff from both men - I'm thrilled they gave me the time. So please check it out!  Thank you very much. This episode was sponsored by FHC- Frameless Hardware Company What if I told you that you could quote an entire entrance system in the same amount of time it took me to read this word from our sponsor? When one hears “𝘭𝘦𝘢𝘥 𝘵𝘪𝘮𝘦,” it’s natural to immediately think production time and delivery of manufactured product. But what is your lead time on simply getting a quote from your vendor? Days? Weeks? FHC’s newly upgraded and expanded INSTAQUOTE program takes those painful unknowns and puts the power directly under your control.  Design, price, & quote your orders in minutes, not days. This is the fastest estimating tool in our industry. Don’t believe it? Go to FHC-USA.com and sign up for your 90-Day FREE trial and see how this innovative tool can transform your competitive edge. From the Fabricator! S5E15- Seth Madole (Viracon) & Kevin Black (Flexijet)

New episode of the “From the Fabricator” podcast is now up, and this was a learning edition for me.  First up, Seth Madole of Viracon.  Seth has been a key cog in the Viracon machine for years, and it was great to get his insight into successful business approaches and, of course, the supply chain, which falls under his responsibilities at Viracon.  Lots of good stuff from a first-class person.  Then I talked with Kevin Black of Flexijet. Kevin is also a fantastic person and talent, and I loved his take on attracting youth to our space —if more people did it, we could fill more holes.  Plus, Flexijet was a product I knew little about until recently (thanks to smarter guys than me, Ryan Shoemaker of Champagne Glass and Abdeali Karimjee of Precision Glass Industries), and I am fascinated by it. Looking forward to seeing it in action at GlassBuild.  Two people, two differing worlds and roles,  but two people who shine in our space.  Check it out and THANK YOU for the continued support! Thank to FHC-Frameless Hardware Company for sponsoring this episode! Going to GlassBuild Orlando? From the Fabricator! S5E13- Kevin Hardman (Hardman Glazing Management) & Heidi Trudell/Alex Sobolev (Guardian Glass)

This new episode of the “From the Fabricator” podcast is loaded up for you, it’s a real dandy.  This time out, I begin with Kevin Hardman of Hardman Glazing Management.  You may know him from several different avenues, including his legendary Tools Tuesday pieces, but he goes much deeper than all of that.  Really cool guy with some excellent stories, and his family's past is similar to mine, going back to the 1800s.  Fun one all the way around.  Then I jump deep into the bird-friendly glazing world with two very respected experts from Guardian Glass.  Heidi Trudell and Alex Sobolev joined me and really dug into the nooks and crannies of that industry segment.  If you want a comprehensive understanding of bird-friendly in a very conversational way, this is it.  Heidi, whom I had met years ago, and Alex, whom I just met, were really impressive people too.  So please go ahead and check it all out.  Thank you! Thank you to the episode sponsor- FHC Frameless Hardware Company.  I am grateful for the continued support. Meet the NEW FHC INSTAQUOTE design and estimating program. From the Fabricator! S5E12- Mark Seeton (Vitro) & Danielle Whatley (Texstar Glazing)

A new episode of the "From the Fabricator" podcast is now available for your holiday listening/watching pleasure.  Mark Seeton of Vitro was an excellent time for me, he answered a few glass geek questions for me, including what the game-changing product in our space from his organization was, and the biggest industry change over the span of his career.  Plus, he legit stunned me on the “fun” question, too.  And his input on the forecast was very insightful/helpful.  Then I caught up with Danielle Whatley of Texstar Glazing. Danielle is a growing force in our space, and getting her take on “being on the other side,” as in working at a fabricator, along with what drives her and her company, was super refreshing. Overall, yet another fun podcast!  These are really rolling now, and I still have 10 more guests to go this year, and the support blows me away.  Thanks again for watching & listening!! This episode is brought to with support from FHC Frameless Hardware Company FHC is redefining what a panic exit device can be. From the Fabricator! S5E11- Karolina Styk (Press Glass) Corey Thompson (Pellucere)

Fun new episode of the From the Fabricator podcast is HERE.  I caught up with two dynamic people with interesting backgrounds.  I start with Karolina Styk of Press Glass.  Super bright and passionate for our industry.  It was cool to hear about her journey from Poland to the US and how she’s really leaned into the whole glass industry space, both in products and culture.  Next, I visited with Corey Thompson of Pellucere.  Impressive guy with serious credentials, and he and his team are developing some game-changing products. Corey’s journey was unique as well, and I love his dedication to his alma mater and how that’s now paying off for his company.  I enjoy bringing new stories to the forefront, and these two fit the bill nicely.  Thanks in advance for checking it out! FHC - Frameless Hardware Company sponsored this episode.  While others raise prices and scale back, FHC is investing forward. As vendor memos roll out with sweeping increases and vague “market conditions,” FHC is choosing a different path: expanding product lines, opening new Service Centers, and growing support and production teams. Fun new podcast episode is up!  The latest From the Fabricator features two individuals whose Fathers were in the business, and they have applied the lessons learned from them to make significant strides in their own careers.  I start with Brady Nails of MT Contracting in Montana.  Extensive conversation that had a ton of interesting nuggets, including training and recruitment, along with insight on AI in the industry.  Then Mike DeFrank joined me.  Mike just landed at Country Glass in Dallas, and it was great to get his perspective on various aspects of the business, including business development in a softer market and working in all aspects of our business.  Two talented individuals who will be players in our space for a long time —and who knows, maybe their kids will follow in their footsteps too!  Thank you, as always, for checking it out.  I appreciate it!
