The Aiki Dojo Podcast

This program has rapidly become my favorite Aikido podcast. I don’t necessarily agree with all of the host’s conclusions but it still offers a very interesting and compelling window into the unvarnished thoughts and views of some very experienced and credentialed teachers and practitioners. One of my favorite aspects of the show is when the hosts explore the complex relationships they had with their deceased teacher. It can occasionally feel like listening to a group therapy session for adults who had a difficult relationships with their parents.

This podcast is worth listening to. I’m a lifelong martial artist and Pure Krav Maga instructor. I currently study Aikido & Judo in Houston. If you listen carefully and patiently, you may glean beautiful honest truths about life and martial science. Well done and you bring honor to Furuya Sensei’s memory. Thank you. - Nick

I have listened to a number of episodes of this podcast and have continued to enjoy the interchange and discussion of Aikido founded in tradition. I always believe we learn and grow though stories and the lessons that are contained within them. Having a background in a traditional dojo and focus I appreciate the stories and lessons gained from the insights gained on the map and their teacher. Keep up the good work and look forward to future episodes. Additional I hope (and recommend) brining on other teachers to continue a broader discussion on Aikido and culture.

As a martial artist of 35+ years who transitioned into aikido a few years ago, I couldn’t make it through even the first episode. One of the “hosts” consistently talked about beating people up - both in and outside of the dojo - over the smallest perceived slight. Anything else he said then felt disingenuous and hypocritical. Consequently the message they’re trying to impart gets lost. Frankly I feel sorry for anyone who has to train with/under him. There’s other, BETTER, Aikido podcasts out there. I will not be continuing with this one.
