Some episodes have been so legendary that I end up taking notes and buying the interviewees’ books, while others leave me arguing with the hosts or designating as “Played” b4 they’re over b/c they weren’t going anywhere. I think that’s what makes this podcast really worth listening to: The hosts are neither preachy nor holier-than-thou; they’re instead down-to-earth, open to new opinions and concepts, and make listeners feel like one could be their occasionally argumentative friend.
Some episodes I’ve replayed because their content was that good incl. those with Julie Bogart (The Brave Learner: I bought her book), Ginny Yurich (1000 Hours Outside: I bought her books and started listening to her show), and Emilie Toups (Toups & Co.: I already had some T&C makeup). The hosts take such deep dives and ask really insightful questions, which has helped me feel like I learned so much more than I thought I knew on a particular subject, while reassuring me that we made the right decision about something, or sometimes even like we need to explore more about it.
Some episodes I abandoned early incl. the one on sugar and another on homeschooling. The one on sugar started with a long side note about hair (that I didn’t care to finish, which is unfortunate b/c the main episode was probably interesting). Then the one on homeschooling veered into how one of the hosts “homeschools” by simply shuffling her kids to and from co-ops (and actual school?), which angered me as we’re co-op-free. I know, I know: I may have overreacted, but I legit can’t stand homeschoolers who consider tiny classes elsewhere homeschooling when there are homeschoolers who strive to do most of the education themselves (sometimes alongside their child).
In closing, I have just a couple of tips, if I may: Please get to the topic sooner without side tracks because most of the time we tune in to hear more about what’s in the title, and also enunciate better because a few terms, brands, or phrases can be difficult to listen to despite numerous replays.
Thank you very much for all the individuals you interview, your questions, and the time you put into this.
