    *RECYCLED EPISODE* Episode 122: Christa Pike // The Youngest Woman Sentenced to Death

    Send us Fan Mail Before we get into today’s episode, we wanted to take a moment to explain why we’re bringing this particular case back to you. We originally covered the case of Christa Pike some time ago, but with Pike’s execution currently scheduled  to take place at 9am MST on September 30, 2026, in Tennessee, we felt it was important to revisit the episode and make it available again. Christa Pike was convicted of the 1995 murder of 19-year-old Colleen Slemmer, a case that has remained in the public eye for decades. Pike was sentenced to death and has spent the last 30 years on death row. So, before we begin, we want to acknowledge that this episode discusses a real person, a real victim, and a case that has affected many lives for decades. Our intention in revisiting it isn't to sensationalize what happened, but to provide the story and the context surrounding a case that is once again making headlines. With that said, let's go back to the beginning and revisit the case of Christa Pike. Christa Pike is an American woman who became the youngest woman sentenced to death in the United States during the modern era. Born on March 10, 1976, in West Virginia, Pike had a troubled upbringing marked by instability and abuse. At 18, while attending a Job Corps program in Tennessee, she murdered a fellow student, Colleen Slemmer, in 1995, in what was described as a premeditated killing fueled by jealousy and obsession. Pike and her accomplices lured Slemmer to a secluded area, where she was brutally tortured and killed. Pike kept a piece of the victim's skull as a trophy, which became a key piece of evidence during her trial. In 1996, Pike was convicted of first-degree murder and sentenced to death by electrocution.     Episode 194: Madeline Soto: Behind Closed Doors

    Send us Fan Mail Madeline Soto was a 13-year-old girl from Florida, whose disappearance in February 2024 sparked a desperate search and quickly became a case filled with disturbing questions. On February 26, Madeline was reported missing after she failed to show up at school. Her family initially believed she had been dropped off that morning, but investigators soon began piecing together a very different timeline. As detectives retraced Madeline’s final days, attention turned toward her mother’s boyfriend, Stephan Sterns, who had been living with the family. What began as a missing-child investigation soon became a homicide investigation. Investigators uncovered surveillance footage, digital evidence, and other discoveries that raised troubling questions about what happened to Madeline inside the home—and what happened during the hours after she disappeared. As the investigation unfolded, Sterns was arrested and charged in connection with Madeline’s death. The case would reveal a heartbreaking story of a young girl whose final days were surrounded by secrets, unanswered questions, and people who should have been protecting her.     Episode 193: When the Predator is a Child: The Peter Woodcock Case

    Episode 192: The Devil She Called Dad: The Harmony Montgomery Case

    Send us Fan Mail Harmony Montgomery was just 5 years old when she was murdered by her father, Adam Montgomery, in Manchester, New Hampshire, in December 2019. Despite multiple warning signs of abuse and concerns raised by relatives, Harmony had been placed in her father's custody earlier that year. After her death, Adam concealed her body, which has never been recovered. Shockingly, Harmony wasn't reported missing until December 2021, when her mother, Crystal Sorey, realized she had not seen or spoken to her daughter in years. During Adam Montgomery's 2024 trial, prosecutors argued that he fatally beat Harmony during a drug-fueled period of homelessness and then moved and hid her body for months with the help of his estranged wife, Kayla Montgomery, who later testified against him. Adam was convicted of murder and several related offenses in 2024, but in 2026 the New Hampshire Supreme Court overturned his murder conviction on procedural grounds and ordered a new trial. His convictions for abuse of a corpse, evidence tampering, witness tampering, and other offenses remain in place, and prosecutors have announced they intend to retry the murder charge. Harmony's body has never been found, and her case has prompted widespread criticism of the child welfare system for failing to protect her despite repeated reports of abuse.
