Episode 130: Wade Wilson and The Murders of Kristine Melton and Diane Ruiz

Send us a text In October 2019, Wade Wilson, a 25-year-old from Fort Myers, Florida, committed the brutal murders of two women in Cape Coral. On October 6, Wilson met 35-year-old Kristine Melton at a local bar and accompanied her home. The following morning, he strangled Melton to death in her residence. Later that day, Wilson encountered 43-year-old Diane Ruiz as she walked to work. After luring her into a vehicle he had stolen from Melton, Wilson strangled Ruiz and, upon realizing she was still alive, ran her over multiple times, leading to her death. In June 2024, a jury convicted Wilson of two counts of first-degree premeditated murder, along with charges of grand theft, burglary, battery, and petit theft. The jury recommended the death penalty, which was upheld by Circuit Judge Nicholas Thompson in August 2024. Judge Thompson cited the heinous, atrocious, and cruel nature of the murders, as well as the cold, calculated premeditation of the second murder, as factors in his decision. Wilson's crimes have had a profound impact on the Cape Coral community and the families of the victims. Melton was remembered as a cat lover and a great friend, while Ruiz was a mother of two sons and described as the "heartbeat of the bar" where she worked. Episode 172: Jeffrey Dahmer // Part 2

Send us a text Jeffrey Lionel Dahmer, A.K.A. The Milwaukee Monster, A.K.A. The Milwuakee Cannibal, was born on May 21, 1960, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, the first of two sons. His childhood was marked by family instability, frequent moves, and emotional neglect. He showed early signs of withdrawal, fascination with dead animals, and difficulty forming relationships. His parents’ volatile marriage ended in divorce shortly after he graduated high school. In 1978, at age 18, Dahmer committed his first murder, killing Steven Hicks shortly after Hicks picked him up while hitchhiking. Dahmer dismembered the body and scattered the remains, then went undetected. In the years that followed, he drifted through college, the Army, and low-level jobs, struggling with severe alcoholism and repeated failures. He was discharged from the Army in 1981 and later convicted of indecent exposure in 1982. By the mid-1980s, Dahmer was living in Milwaukee, drinking heavily, and working nights at the Ambrosia Chocolate Factory. His sexual fantasies increasingly centered on control and unconscious partners. On November 20, 1987, after nearly a decade without killing, Dahmer murdered Steven Tuomi in a Milwaukee hotel room—an act that marked the beginning of his sustained killing spree, though it was not yet known to authorities.
