    What changes when you know you belong in God’s family? /// Red Letters: Part 2

    We're so glad you've chosen to listen to our online experience! Here at Plum Creek, we’re all about changed lives, changing lives; and what that simply means is that what Christ has done in us is not just for us, but it’s for us to share with others in our community and around the world.     ///   If you're using this teaching for a Home Groups setting, we've included discussion prompts to help guide your conversation: 1. How have your experiences with an earthly father shaped the way you picture God as Father, and where might that picture need to be corrected? 2. Pastor Doug described four implications of God as Father (intimacy, sovereignty, security, and belonging). Which one is easiest for you to believe, and which one is hardest to trust? 3. Read Matthew 6:9 and consider the words “our Father.” What do those two words reveal about both your relationship with God and your relationship with other believers? 4. The message described even loving families as complicated and messy. How does the idea of having a perfect Father change the way you think about the imperfections in your own family? 5. Consider the challenge to ask God to replace a faulty or skewed view of fatherhood with the truth of who He is.     Welcome to The After Sermon by Plum Creek Church. What comes to mind when you hear God described as “Father”? For many of us, that word carries a lifetime of experiences—some good, some painful, and most complicated. But what if our experience with our fathers isn’t supposed to define how we see God? What if Jesus invites us to start with God and allow him to redefine what “Father” means? Daniel sits down with Michele Cushatt to unpack Jesus’ words, “Our Father,” the significance those words carried in the first century, and the surprising picture of Jesus as the firstborn Son who came not to conquer with a sword, but to lay down his life. Together, they explore what it means to know God through intimacy, sovereignty, security, and belonging—and what changes when we begin to see ourselves as his beloved children.     Welcome to The After Sermon by Plum Creek Church. What do you do when the rhythm of life changes and you’re not sure what comes next? In this episode of The After Sermon, Daniel sits down with guest communicator Keith Norman to unpack John 21 and the disciples’ in-between season after the resurrection. They talk about why uncertainty so often pushes us back toward what feels familiar, why we tend to trust our own effort more than simple dependence on Jesus, and what it means that following Jesus starts with grace rather than performance. Keith also shares why Jesus’ invitation to simply “come” became such a personal and emotional part of the message. When you can’t hear the beat, you don’t have to manufacture the rhythm yourself. When you find yourself in an in between season and cannot hear the beat, how do you usually respond, and what would it look like to depend more intentionally on the risen Christ? 2. Reflect on Keith Norman’s statement that “transitions often breed a comfortability that yields futility,” and consider where comfort might be keeping you from something God is asking you to do. 3. What is one “little thing” you already know Jesus is asking you to do differently, and what has made simple obedience difficult? 4. Read John 21:4 to 13 and discuss what Jesus providing breakfast for the disciples reveals about his care for both ordinary needs and deeper spiritual needs. 5. Look up John 15:4-5 and consider Jesus’ command to remain in him. How is remaining with Jesus different from simply adding another spiritual activity to an already full life?  4. The sermon emphasized that spiritual practices do not transform us, but Jesus does.
