Welcome to Not Your Ordinary Parts. This podcast is an outward expression of my deep internal work that I felt compelled to share with anyone willing to listen. What I want to be conveyed most is relatability; I am an everyday guy trying to share the things I've learned on my journey being a flawed human. There will be mistakes, I'll be nervous, I might fumble my words, but maybe, just maybe.... I'll help someone because I was willing to be vulnerable. If you find anything here helpful, please share it. Instagram - @notyourordinaryparts Host - Jalon Johnson Instagram @londonspop GoBirds!

S6 Episode 6: My Altered States with Dr. Rick Strassman, Psychiatrist

Dr. Rick Strassman is a physician, psychiatrist, researcher, author, and a pioneering explorer of human consciousness whose work has helped transform the modern conversation surrounding psychedelics, spirituality, and the mysteries of the mind. For more than five decades, he has explored the boundaries between what we can scientifically measure, what we can personally experience, and what we have yet to understand about consciousness and the nature of human existence. Dr. Strassman studied biological sciences at Stanford University, earned his medical degree with honors from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, completed his psychiatric residency at UC, Davis, received fellowship training in clinical psychopharmacology research at UC, San Diego, he joined the faculty at the University of New Mexico School of Medicine in 1984 where his clinical research on melatonin discovered its first known function in humans; and between 1990-1995 he went on to begin the first new U.S. government-approved clinical research with psychedelic drugs in more than twenty years. Focusing primarily on DMT, those groundbreaking studies became the foundation of his landmark and best-selling book, DMT: The Spirit Molecule; which has been translated into 13 languages and sold millions of copies worldwide. He’s published more than forty peer-reviewed scientific papers and has served as a consultant to the FDA and the National Institute on Drug Abuse. Dr. Strassman’s exploration of consciousness has taken him through personal psychoanalysis, decades of Buddhist practice, a study of the Hebrew Bible, and a body of writing that spans science, spirituality, memoir, and fiction and he's spent a lifetime pursuing some of humanity’s oldest and most difficult questions. Ultimately, Dr. Strassman’s work has not simply expanded the modern conversation about psychedelics; it’s invited us to look more deeply at consciousness itself and to consider just how much about the human experience remains undiscovered. S6 Episode 5: When The Sirens Stop with George Faller, LMFT

George Faller is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, author, educator, and Certified Trainer in the groundbreaking model of Emotionally Focused Therapy, developed by Dr. Sue Johnson. As the founder of the New York Center for Emotionally Focused Therapy, George now trains clinicians around the world in this work and throughout his career, he’s dedicated his life to helping people build stronger, safer, and more secure relationships. Through his teaching, writing, and clinical work, George equips couples, families, and therapists with practical tools to repair emotional disconnection, move beyond conflict, and create relationships rooted in trust, vulnerability, and lasting connection. Before entering the field of mental health, George spent twenty years serving as both a New York City firefighter and police officer, including serving during one of the most defining moments in our nation's history… September 11th. His experience as an FDNY Peer Counselor in the aftermath of 9/11 profoundly shaped his understanding of trauma and its impact not only on individuals, but on marriages, families, and the relationships people depend on most. Those experiences inspired a lifelong commitment to helping first responders, military families, couples, and clinicians better understand the ways fear, loss, and emotional isolation shape our closest relationships. George is the author of the books True Connection, Sacred Stress, Emotionally Focused Family Therapy, and Brave Love, Great Sex. Whether working with couples, first responders, military families, or clinicians, George's mission remains the same... to help people create relationships where people feel seen, safe, emotionally secure, and deeply connected. S6 Episode 4: The Energy Codes with Dr. Sue Morter, Bioenergetics Expert

Dr. Sue Morter is a NYT bestselling author, internationally acclaimed speaker, educator, healer, visionary, and one of the most influential voices in the modern conversation surrounding consciousness, embodiment, energy medicine, and human potential. She is the founder and CEO of the Morter Institute for Bioenergetics, creator of the Energy Codes, co-developer of the Bio-Energetic Synchronization Technique, host of The Art of Awakening podcast and Gaia TV’s Healing Matrix, and she’s a pioneer in bridging the worlds of science, spirituality, and self-healing in a way that is both deeply experiential and profoundly transformative. For more than 40 years, she's has devoted her life to helping people awaken beyond survival and conditioned identities by training people how to work directly with the body’s energetic and nervous systems to create transformation from the inside out. Her teachings draw from quantum science, neuroscience, bioenergetics, breathwork, ancient wisdom traditions, meditation, sacred geometry, and somatic embodiment practices, all woven together into a practical framework for transformation. Her work challenges the deeply rooted illusion of separation; separation from self, each other, the body, love, and from the Divine; and instead invites people into a direct lived experience of connection, presence, and higher consciousness. What makes Dr. Sue’s work so impactful is that she doesn’t merely speak about transcendence or higher consciousness conceptually, she teaches how to access it within and her message is rooted in one profound truth: that there is nothing fundamentally broken within us to fix, only aspects of ourselves waiting to be remembered, reconnected, and fully brought back online. Dr. Sue has become a guide for countless people seeking not only healing, but a deeper relationship with themselves, their bodies, their purpose, and the greater intelligence moving through life itself and she invites us all to stop searching outside ourselves for wholeness and begin awakening to the truth that what we have been seeking; has been within us all along. S6 Episode 3: Trust The Flames with Katie Delimon, Author, Coach, Speaker

Katie Delimon is an author, somatic coach, educator, and passionate advocate for nervous system healing, whose work is helping people uncover the invisible wounds that quietly shape the way they live, love, and relate to themselves. Through her writing, coaching, and teaching, Katie is working to expand our understanding of trauma beyond catastrophic events; helping people recognize that some of our deepest struggles are rooted not only in what happened to us, but also in what was missing … the love, emotional safety, validation, and connection we needed; but never received. Katie's memoir, Trust the Flames, is a deeply personal account of her own journey through grief, anxiety, depression, chronic fatigue, toxic relationships, and ultimately, profound transformation. More than a memoir, it's an invitation to examine the hidden patterns that quietly shape our lives and to consider the possibility that even our greatest struggles can become the catalyst for healing, self-discovery, and lasting change. Drawing from both her lived experience and her work as a somatic coach, Katie has become a voice of hope for people who have spent years believing they were broken, when in reality their nervous systems were faithful and simply doing what they had learned to do: survive. Her work is a culmination of her own lived experience and offers practical tools that help people regulate their nervous systems, reconnect with themselves, and create lives rooted in peace, resilience, and self-compassion. In a world where so many people silently carry wounds they don't even realize have names, Katie's work offers something profoundly hopeful … language, understanding, and the possibility that healing is available to every one of us. S6 Episode 2: No Man Is An Island with Chris Burris, LMFT

Chris Burris is a psychotherapist, consultant, educator, and Senior Lead Trainer for the IFS Institute. For more than three decades, Chris has dedicated his life to understanding what helps people heal, not only as individuals; but as human beings in relationship with one another. Throughout his career, Chris has worked in community agencies, residential treatment programs, institutions of higher learning, private practice, and has trained thousands of therapists around the world. He’s become known for his ability to bring warmth, humanity, and accessibility to some of the most complex aspects of healing; what is more, his work has helped expand the Internal Family Systems model in ways that are more culturally sensitive, relevant, and available to people from diverse backgrounds and experiences. What makes Chris's work so compelling is that he continually reminds us of something many of us have forgotten: healing is not simply an individual journey; human beings are shaped in relationships, wounded in relationships; and often, we heal in relationships. Whether Chris is teaching therapists, facilitating groups, or helping people reconnect with themselves, he returns again and again to the transformative power of being witnessed, understood, and accepted without judgment. His latest work, “Creating Healing Circles,” reflects that lifelong commitment and it is an invitation to rediscover something that modern life often pulls us away from - authentic human connection. In a world where loneliness, isolation, and disconnection have become increasingly common, Chris challenges us to imagine what it looks like and what becomes possible when people gather together with openness, courage, and compassion. S6 Episode 1: The Alchemy of Trauma with Dr. Janina Fisher, Psychologist

Dr. Janina Fisher is a clinical psychologist, author, educator, and one of the most influential voices in the modern understanding of trauma, dissociation, and the fragmented inner world of survivors. Her work offers survivors a pathway out of shame and self-hatred and toward curiosity, compassion, and internal connection. For more than three decades, she has dedicated her life to helping both clinicians and trauma survivors understand a truth that has fundamentally reshaped the field of mental health: that the symptoms people fear, shame, or pathologize most; are often the very adaptations that once helped them survive. Dr. Fisher’s work has transformed the way trauma is understood and treated, shifting the conversation away from “What’s wrong with you?” and toward the far more compassionate and accurate question: “What happened to you… and how did you survive it?” Dr. Fisher has often said that her greatest teachers were the traumatized individuals who trusted her enough to let her witness their inner worlds and what makes her work so powerful is that she doesn’t position herself above survivors, but beside them. Through them, she came to understand trauma not simply as an event from the past, but as what she calls a “living legacy” carried in the body, nervous system, emotions, relationships, and unconscious survival responses long after the danger is over. Dr. Fisher is the author of the groundbreaking books that have become essential resources for both survivors and clinicians around the world; and across her writing and teaching, she has helped countless people understand that fragmentation is not evidence of brokenness, but evidence of adaptation… and that the mind and body do not betray us after trauma - they attempt to protect us. At the heart of Dr. Fisher’s work is one deeply human and profoundly hopeful idea: that healing begins not when we wage war against ourselves…. but when we learn to welcome the parts of us that have spent a lifetime trying to survive.  Connect with Dr. Fisher: Instagram - @drjaninafisher Website - https://janinafisher.com facebook - https://www.facebook.com/janinafisherphd Is there a guest you’d love to see on @notyourordinaryparts? Dr. Cecelia Baldwin is a licensed professional counselor, a doctor of marriage and family therapy, an educator, and a trauma-informed therapist whose work bridges clinical expertise with deep emotional wisdom. With over a decade of experience supporting individuals, couples, and families, Dr. Baldwin brings a grounded, integrative approach to healing with an intentional focus in nervous system science, attachment repair, and what may be most important, generational understanding. Dr. Baldwin’s work centers around emotional regulation, trauma recovery, and helping people reconnect with their inner world in ways that are both compassionate and sustainable. Dr. Baldwin is committed to helping others understand that healing doesn’t begin with fixing; it begins with listening and she offers clinical supervision, workshops, consultations, and speaks with clarity about the complexity of trauma not as a pathology, but as a pattern of protection. Dr. Baldwin teaches that what we commonly call dysfunction is often wisdom in disguise, and that our nervous systems are not broken, they’re brilliant, shaped by experience, and wired for survival. Through her presence, her teaching, and her work with clients, Dr. Baldwin reminds us that regulation is not perfection, and healing is not a destination; it’s a return to softness, to truth, and to relationship with ourselves. S5 Episode 46: Healing From Inside Out with Dr. Leticia Farias, NMD, PhD

Dr. Leticia Farias is a pioneering force in the field of holistic health; a healer who merges cutting-edge science with ancient wisdom, and whose work invites us to listen more deeply to the stories our bodies have been trying to tell. With a Doctorate in Naturopathic Medicine, a PhD in Integrative Health, and a PhD in Quantum Physics; Dr. Farias has spent over two decades guiding people back to health - not by masking symptoms, but by addressing the root causes of suffering and disconnection. At the heart of her practice is a sacred question: “What is the body trying to say,” and Dr. Farias believes true healing begins not when something comes out, but when something is finally allowed in. Through modalities like BioScan technology, ortho-molecular nutrition, auriculotherapy, cranial therapy, and stress-pattern analysis, Dr. Farias helps her clients decode the body's signals uncovering the hidden connections between emotional dysregulation, trauma, immune dysfunction, inflammation, and exhaustion. Whether someone is navigating autoimmune illness, adrenal fatigue, chronic anxiety, or unexplained burnout, her approach gently restores the body’s natural rhythm, guiding people out of survival and into sustainable well-being. Dr. Farias is one of the rare few who truly bridge the science of cellular health with the soul of trauma healing; and her work honors both physiology and story, empowering individuals to reconnect with the wisdom of their own body, their own past, and their own power. Her presence is both clinical and deeply intuitive; and her mission is simple yet profound: to walk beside you as you remember who you are beneath the symptoms. She listens when the body speaks and in doing so, she reminds us that healing is never about fixing what’s broken; it’s about remembering what’s been buried, welcoming what’s been exiled, and restoring balance from the inside out. About
