The Calmest Woman in the Room: Stress, Menopause & Vedic Meditation with Nic Monteforte

What if the drive that built your life is the same thing quietly breaking your body? Nic Monteforte was the poster child of high achievement until it came crumbling down in five hours: a successful business, beautiful house, and retirement vanished. Then came a decade of hell, stacked surgeries, hormone collapse, and the last straw three days before Covid. She had been doing all the tactics. Nature, she says, kept turning up the volume until she learned Vedic meditation. Nic is a former national executive, qualified Vedic meditation teacher, and high-performance coach with 30+ years in leadership. She is the creator of the Stress Debt Economy, the Infinite Capacity Formula, and the Menopause Stress Amplifier, and author of The Calmest Woman in the Room: Mastering Menopause Without Losing Your Mind or Your Edge. In this conversation we talk about: How unfinished stress cycles stack in the body like pancakes, and why an unpaid bill can register as a mountain lion. Why most meditation asks the mind to do one more thing, and how Vedic meditation asks it to do nothing. The menopause stress amplifier: estrogen as a brake on cortisol, and what happens when that brake leaves. Simple ways to complete a stress cycle in 60 seconds. Plus why calm is not a luxury, it is the true meaning of performance. If you have been pushing through and calling it strength, this one offers another operating system. Listen now, then share it with someone who thinks they just need to try harder. Show Notes: Nic Monteforte Website Nic’s Instagram Books

The Ego's Amnesia: How to Live Here Without Forgetting Home

Do you ever feel like you’re not from here? Or maybe you feel like you’re missing something?I felt that way as a child. A foreigner wandering the planet thinking nothing made any sense. I blended in on the outside but always felt like this world wasn’t my real home. It doesn’t take long and the ego jumps in and begins conditioning our minds to become vested in the world. We learn the game of survival, and forget that original feeling might be our longing to remember Home. This episode is about the ego’s amnesia: the trance that makes us forget who we are in God, then sends us on a scavenger hunt for the answer outside ourselves.Today we look at five ways the mind keeps the amnesia in place, and how to undo them without leaving your life: The belief in separation that keeps us running around like busy ants. Projection: treating the world like a popular new Netflix series we have to solve. Making everything personal and reinforcing our identity. Grievances that turn love into “I’m right, you’re the bad guy.” Special love and special hate, the ego’s doctorate in relationships. The feeling that you don’t belong here isn’t a diagnosis. It’s the call to wake up. Spirit is already on the line. You don’t have to check out of your life to pick it up. You can bridge the gap and bring the lighter, wiser Teacher into everyday life.Listen now, then share it with someone who’s been feeling the call to see things differently.

From the Quiet Center: Mindfulness, Forgiveness, & the Dream of Exile with Cristina Schmalisch

We’re home in God, dreaming of exile. That one line could undo a lifetime of spiritual confusion. In this episode I’m joined by Cristina Sorrentino Schmalisch, Mindfulness Coach and Psychological Counselor. Cristina promotes acting locally through cultivating personal peace, which has global effects through our joined consciousness.Cristina has been a student of A Course in Miracles since 2012 and writes a blog inspired by the Course, Living from the Quiet Center. In her professional roles, she helps people understand the power of the mind and connect with the calm center found at our core. After years in psychology, social work, yoga, and a winding spiritual search, Gary Renard’s The Disappearance of the Universe opened the door to the Course. The conversation goes from practice to the places most spiritual talk won’t touch. We talk about: How the Course found her, and why it is a hard path that still feels like recognition. Non-judgment and why healing work only works when you stop doing it alone. Level confusion: the difference between the New Age “we are powerful beings here” and being home in God while dreaming of exile. The death of her dog, Wall-E, the holy instant, and what she calls the great missing: grief as a doorway back to oneness. This is a tender, honest look at forgiveness, death, and learning to live with a dual awareness at once: the world of form, and the love that has never gone. Listen now!Show notes:Cristina’s Websitehttps://www.livingfromthequietcenter.com/

When the Ego's Version of Happy Falls Apart: How to Find the Authentic Self

Are you happy? Are you truly, genuinely, happy, or do you just think you are? I was recently asked a question that sparked this entire episode. The question was: “You said you were happy before your awakening. Are you happy now?” What a great question! In this episode, I unpack the difference between the ego’s version of happiness and the quieter, more lasting happiness of Spirit. Before my life completely unraveled, I believed I was living a happy life. What I didn’t realize was how deeply attached I was to the identity I had spent decades building, the special, unique self that the ego so carefully protects. Today we explore: How any crisis (loss, illness, betrayal, or sudden change) can crack the identity we didn’t even know we were clinging to. The ego’s rigid response: treating every impact as a problem that must be solved externally. The invitation that is always available. There is the calm still point of Spirit that remains peaceful even when everything on the surface is shaking. What true happiness actually feels like when it no longer depends on getting what the ego wants. This episode is an honest look at the happiness we think we have and the deeper, more authentic peace that becomes possible when the old version falls apart, whether we like it or not. Your Mind is Writing Fiction Again: Why We Dissociate & How to Gently Come Back

What happens when your mind becomes so distracted that every stranger in the airport, grocery store, or traffic jam turns into a full-blown internal story? In this episode let’s get honest about how quickly the untrained mind spins narratives, judges everything in sight, and pulls us out of the present moment. Drawing from both psychology and A Course in Miracles, Lindsay explores the real meaning of dissociation, not as pathology, but as the ego’s constant habit of checking out of Spirit and into endless mental movies. In this episode we talk about: The everyday ways our minds automatically create stories and judgments (airports, grocery stores, coffee shops, and mundane annoyances). How psychology defines dissociation, depersonalization, and derealization. What A Course in Miracles means by dissociation: the ego’s original split from God and its ongoing distraction tactics. Why most of us are simply lacking mind training and don’t even know it. Practical, light-hearted ways to start watching your mind this week without judgment. How to catch the stories, laugh at them, and return to the quiet center where Spirit is always waiting. If your mind feels noisy, scattered, or constantly on a tangent, this episode offers a simple, humorous reset. No mountain-top practices or long meditations required. Just honest observation and a little willingness to see differently. Listen now and start noticing the stories your mind is telling. You might be pleasantly surprised how quickly they lose their power once you stop taking them so seriously. Visit Live Like Eden! I'd love to hear from you! Download the MindBodySpirit.fm App!
