All Points North

I started listening to the podcast to gain perspective of another country and culture, with my interest coming from my grandmother who was 100% Finn. While I do learn some of the culture and news of what is going on, I hear too much complaining of those that move to Finland and feel that it isn’t a welcoming place. The podcast on local elections showed it was important to get those that have moved there into government so that things can change. What I don’t hear is how those that move there are learning to embrace and understand they need to assimilate. It’s interesting to learn how things are in Finland, and if I were to ever move there I have the assumption that I need to learn the differences, and how to live with the culture. It’s a 50:50 shot of if I learn something from the podcast vs hear the complaints.
