When Your Wife Is Spiritually Ahead + When Your Child Has the Wrong Friends | Q&A

What happens when a wife is spiritually ahead of her husband? How can a husband begin leading his family when he still feels like he’s figuring out his own faith? In this episode of the House of Roberts Podcast, we answer two questions from our audience. First, we talk honestly about spiritual leadership in marriage: why some husbands hesitate to lead, the simple ways a husband can begin, and how a wife can encourage him without comparing, criticizing, or trying to force the process. Then we get into a parenting question every family eventually faces: What should you do when another child begins negatively influencing yours? We talk about believing the best, helping children work through conflict, knowing when to involve the other parents, and recognizing when protecting your child may require changing a friendship. In this episode: • Why spiritual authority begins with submission to God• The simplest way a husband can begin leading• Why a husband doesn’t need to be 50 steps ahead• How wives can create room for their husbands to grow• When to step into your child’s friendship problems• Why we don’t immediately “go nuclear”• Choosing the stewardship of your children over protecting every friendship If this episode encouraged you, send it to a husband, wife, or parent who needs it. Feeling Like Roommates? How to Reconnect After Kids + Hold On Through Hard Seasons

What happens when you love your spouse, love your kids… but somewhere along the way your marriage starts feeling more like a partnership for managing life than an actual marriage? In this episode of House of Roberts, we’re answering questions from you — starting with one we think a lot of couples experience after having kids: How do you keep from becoming roommates? We talk about why good things can still get out of order, how easily a marriage can become kid-centered, why continuing to date each other matters, and some of the simple rhythms we use to stay connected even when life is busy or money is tight. We also talk about something our kids are learning every time they watch our marriage: what it looks like for a husband and wife to actually enjoy, prioritize, pursue, and make room for one another. Then we tackle another big question: How do you stay faith-filled when you're walking through a hard season? Sometimes the answer isn't another five-step plan. Sometimes it's doing what you already know to do when you don't know what else to do — getting in the Word, praying, keeping your head, enduring, refusing isolation, and surrounding yourself with people who will truly pray for you. We also talk about: • Why your spouse should still come before your kids• Simple ways to keep dating when life is full• Why your schedule reveals what you actually value• Talking to your spouse instead of expecting them to read your mind• The marriage your kids are learning by watching you• Why feelings sometimes follow faithfulness• How to keep your head in difficult seasons• Why hard seasons don't get the final word• The power of having real intercessors praying for you• Why isolation gives the enemy room to work If your marriage has felt disconnected lately, you're walking through something difficult, or you simply need some encouragement to keep going, this conversation is for you. Welcome to our loud, crazy Christian home. We hope it encourages, equips, and inspires yours.

We’re Struggling With Honor in Our Home—Here’s What We’re Doing About It.

Your home already has a culture. The question is: Are you intentionally creating it, or simply allowing it to form? Recently, we started noticing more disrespect, harsh words, sibling conflict, and dishonor showing up in our own home. Instead of trying to fix everything at once, we decided to identify one thing and intentionally go after it. For our family, that thing is honor. In this episode, we're bringing you into what we're implementing in real time—from defining what honor looks like, to connecting it to Scripture, establishing clear consequences, and helping our kids learn to speak life over one another. We also talk about why family culture can't simply be imposed on our children. If we want them to live out a value, we have to be willing to ask whether we're modeling it first. In this episode, we talk about: Why prayer changes the way we discipline our childrenWhy correction and consequences are still necessaryHow unity impacts the culture of a homeWhy you shouldn't try to fix ten parenting issues at onceHow we're currently teaching honor through words and actionsThe practical consequences we're putting around dishonorWhy we use Scripture as part of both correction and formationWhy the values we want in our kids have to begin with usHow to build a home founded on the Word of GodWe're not sharing a perfect system or a finished formula. We're inviting you into something we're still working through in our own home. Our hope is that this episode helps you slow down and ask: What is the one thing God may be asking us to strengthen in our home right now? Welcome to the House of Roberts Podcast—a podcast where we bring you into our loud, crazy Christian home to encourage, equip, and inspire yours. Stop Letting the School Year Run Your Family.

The school year can bring helpful structure—but if we aren’t intentional, school, sports, homework, and activities can quickly begin controlling the rhythm of our homes. In this episode, Michael and Gabrielle talk honestly about navigating the transition back to school and protecting the things that matter most in the middle of a busy season. They share their family’s back-to-school tradition of worship, communion, prayer, and blessing their children—and why parents don’t need to be pastors or spiritual experts to create meaningful moments like these at home. They also challenge families to examine whether every opportunity is actually beneficial. Are our schedules strengthening our children, marriages, and family culture—or are they keeping everyone moving too quickly to stay connected? From protecting family dinners and creating regular check-ins with your spouse to evaluating what each individual child actually needs, this conversation is an invitation to stop letting the calendar make your family’s decisions. Michael and Gabrielle also share how they discern God-given ideas through time and prayer, why they are continuing to rethink what education could look like for their family, and how to recognize when God may be preparing you to make a change. You don’t have to overhaul your entire life this week. Ask the Holy Spirit to highlight one adjustment that could bring greater health, connection, and purpose into your home. God can do a lot with a little when that little is submitted to Him.

    Parenting a Sensitive Child.

Some kids argue about everything. Others feel everything. If you're raising a child who is emotional, deeply sensitive, compassionate, or easily overwhelmed, this episode is for you. As parents, it's easy to mistake sensitivity for weakness or assume our job is to toughen our children up. But what if God designed some children to experience the world differently? What if their sensitivity is actually one of their greatest strengths? In this episode, Michael and Gabrielle share what they're learning from raising one of their own children who is naturally sensitive, emotionally aware, and deeply discerning. They discuss how to help these kids process their emotions without being controlled by them, why Scripture and prayer are essential anchors, and how parents can cultivate the unique gifts God has placed inside their children instead of accidentally shutting them down. Whether your child cries easily, notices everything, carries the burdens of others, or simply feels life more deeply than their siblings, you'll leave this conversation with practical encouragement and biblical wisdom to help them flourish. In this episode you'll learn:• How to recognize the difference between emotional immaturity and God-given sensitivity.• Why emotions should inform us—but never lead us.• How discernment and sensitivity often go hand in hand.• Why sensitive children need to be taught to pray, not just process.• Practical ways to parent without crushing your child's unique design. Your child's sensitivity may not be something to fix—it may be something God wants you to faithfully develop. #HouseOfRoberts #ChristianParenting #ParentingPodcast #SensitiveKids #EmotionalKids #ParentingTips #FaithBasedParenting #RaisingChildren #ChristianFamily #BiblicalParenting #DiscerningParents #PrayerChangesThings #FamilyDiscipleship #ParentingEncouragement #KingdomFamily #ChristianMarriage #HolySpirit #FaithAndFamily #ParentingWithPurpose #JesusCenteredHome
