Live Beyond the Norms

Chris Burres

You want to have a spectacular life.  You want to live longer as long as you are healthy mentally and physically.  This podcast has been a vision of mine for the last two and a half years.  As I continue to share with people the astounding results, 90% extension of life in test subjects, reported in peer-reviewed published research about our molecule ESS60, I started to think about what it would be like to live longer.  Not just longer, but ALOT longer.  I also started thinking about how living longer would disrupt the vision many people had about their lives and the final years of that life.  This podcast is big enough to cover all aspects of Living Beyond the Norms but it will start and probably focus on health and longevity and the cutting-edge research which promises significantly longer and healthier living.  It will also cover the unconventional strategies employed today by today's experts to help people Live Beyond the Norms.

How Environmental Toxins Affect Your Hormones, Weight, and Fertility | Dr. Wendy Myers

Over the last four decades, obesity in the U.S. has nearly doubled. Research has found testosterone levels in American men declining by around 1% per year since the 80s. Most alarmingly, global sperm concentration has fallen by more than 50% since the 1970s. For people struggling with their weight, hormones, or fertility, figuring out what’s contributing to the problem can take years. Dr. Wendy Myers believes one culprit deserves more attention: the environmental chemicals and heavy metals we’re exposed to every day. According to Dr. Myers, these exposures can interfere with the way our hormones function and may even make losing weight more difficult. She explains why minerals are such an important part of her approach to detox and what we can do to reduce the toxic load we encounter in everyday life. “Your minerals are the spark plugs of your body.” ~ Dr. Wendy Myers Support the show and get 50% off MCT oil with free shipping—just leave us a review on iTunes and Spotify and let us know! https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/live-beyond-the-norms/id1714886566  Resources Mentioned: Limitless Energy: How to Detox Toxic Metals to End Exhaustion and Chronic Fatigue by Wendy Myers - https://www.amazon.com/s?k=Limitless+Energy+Wendy+Myers  Myers Detox Protocol - https://myersdetox.com/myers-detox-protocol/  Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis (HTMA) - https://store.myersdetox.com/collections/detox-protocols  Perfect Iodine by Activation Products - https://activationproducts.com/products/perfect-iodine  Jaspr Air Scrubber - https://jaspr.co/products/airscrubber  Seafood Survival Guide: Toxicity and Sustainability Article - https://myersdetox.com/seafood-survival-guide/  Spooky2 Rife Machine - https://www.spooky2.com/  About Dr. Wendy Myers: Dr. Wendy Myers is a naturopathic doctor, Functional Diagnostic Nutrition practitioner, and founder of MyersDetox.com. What 24 Years in Law Enforcement Taught Him About Living Longer | Dr. Mark Sherwood

There are roughly 650,000 full-time sworn law enforcement officers in the United States and more than a million active physicians. But how many people have spent decades in law enforcement, served on a SWAT team, and then become a doctor? Probably not many.  My guest, Dr. Mark Sherwood, is one of them. That career change gave Dr. Sherwood an unusual perspective on stress, health, and aging. He explains why he thinks stress is something we do rather than something we have, and why our genes leave us with more room to influence our health than many people assume. We also talk about hormone replacement therapy and the rise of GLP-1 drugs, including Dr. Sherwood’s own experiment with retatrutide. Along the way, he explains how he measures biological age and why longevity comes down to staying capable for as long as possible. “I just want to make sure I have a life in my years.” ~ Dr. Mark Sherwood Support the show and get 50% off MCT oil with free shipping—just leave us a review on iTunes and Spotify and let us know! https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/live-beyond-the-norms/id1714886566  Resources Mentioned: Authentic Longevity by Dr. Mark Sherwood and Dr. Michele Sherwood - https://www.amazon.com/Authentic-Longevity-Unlocking-Lifelong-Vitality/dp/B0FZ1PGNNQ/ref=sr_1_1  The Longevity Lab - https://www.skool.com/the-longevity-lab-4097/about GlycanAge Biological Age Test - https://glycanage.com/ About Dr. Mark Sherwood: Dr. Mark Sherwood is a naturopathic doctor and co-founder of the Functional Medical Institute. Why Your Body Keeps Recirculating Estrogen | Lisa Smith

Nearly three in four women with moderate-to-severe menopausal symptoms report feeling tired or worn out. Add hot flashes, brain fog, anxiety, and bloating, and suddenly it’s hard to know what’s causing what. These symptoms are often treated one at a time, but Lisa Smith believes there’s an important connection between them. The functional medicine dietitian points to the gut, where bacteria can even affect whether estrogen leaves the body or gets sent back into circulation. Lisa breaks down how that happens, why some women struggle with HRT, and what leaky gut and liver health have to do with hormones. She also shares practical ways to support the gut through probiotics, prebiotic foods, protein, and fiber. “Do one thing today. Do one thing tomorrow, and your body will start responding.” ~ Lisa Smith Support the show and get 50% off MCT oil with free shipping—just leave us a review on iTunes and Spotify and let us know! https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/live-beyond-the-norms/id1714886566  Resources Mentioned: The Top Five Regrets of the Dying by Bronnie Ware: https://www.amazon.com/Top-Five-Regrets-Dying-Transformed/dp/140194065X The Pretty Well Podcast, Lisa Smith’s health and wellness podcast - https://lisasmithwellness.com/podcast/  Designs for Health Anaerostipes Probiotic - https://www.designsforhealth.com/products/anaerostipes-probiotic/  Designs for Health Complete Commensal Probiotic - https://www.designsforhealth.com/products/complete-commensal-probiotic/ About Lisa Smith: Lisa Smith, MS, RDN, LDN, is a functional medicine registered dietitian with two master's degrees in nutrition and human biology. The Six Questions That Could Save Your Kid's Immune System | Dr. Elisa Song

A 2016 study of 800,000 children found that antibiotics or antacids in the first six months of life significantly raised the risk of eczema, asthma, and life-threatening food allergies by age four.  Dr. Elisa Song walks through that data, plus a Finnish study of one million births linking early antibiotic exposure to anxiety and mood disorders later in life. She also covers how to spot the difference between a viral and bacterial infection, and what to ask before filling a prescription.  This is a revisit of a conversation I had earlier this year with Dr. Song. Why More Stem Cells Can Mean Worse Results | Joy Kong, MD

Most people think stem cells are unregulated overseas, dangerous, or something you can only access by flying to another country for treatment. Even the ones who believe in them often assume more cells always means better results. But what if none of that is actually true? That's the case Dr. Joy Kong has spent years making. As a UCLA-trained, triple board-certified physician, Dr. Kong has seen it all. She once watched a single stem cell infusion produce changes in a young patient that years of psychiatric medication never could. She's witnessed many more conditions improve with stem cell therapy and has spent years separating fact from fiction. Why Nighttime Erections Are So Good at Predicting Heart Health | Elliot Justin, MD

Cholesterol, blood pressure, and family history are the usual predictors doctors check for heart health. What most don't mention is that nighttime erections can predict it too. It turns out that tracking this single signal can flag cardiovascular risk years before symptoms show up. Doctors have known this for decades, yet no one outside a sleep lab has ever actually tracked it. Well, no one, except for Elliot Justin. Doctor Justin is an emergency physician and healthcare entrepreneur. For years, overlooked signals like this one kept pulling his attention, the kind of data hiding in plain sight that could change how men catch heart disease early. Eventually, that pull led him to build a device that turns this nightly signal into something anyone can measure at home. Why Grit and Grinding Won't Get You Lean | Ben Brown

Self-discipline matters more than IQ for your success. According to research from the University of Pennsylvania, it was more than twice as effective at predicting students' final grades. That same discipline can carry you through school and into a successful career. But health and fitness play by different rules, and sheer willpower often isn’t enough. Ben Brown, head nutrition coach at BSL Nutrition, sees this all the time with high-performing executives. They’ve built careers by pushing harder, working longer, and refusing to quit. But with health, that same mindset can backfire. Willpower works more like a battery than a personality trait. The harder you lean on it, the faster it drains. That’s why, according to Ben, long-term success often comes down to better systems, not more discipline. "The people that rely the least on self-control and discipline are the ones that put themselves in situations that don't require as much self-control and discipline." ~ Ben Brown About Ben Brown: Ben Brown is the owner and head nutrition and fitness coach at BSL Nutrition, a global online health coaching company he co-founded specializing in individualized nutrition, lifestyle, and strength training for highly driven men and women. Millions Are Predisposed to Alzheimer's and Have No Idea | Dr. Ken Sharlin

Roughly 7.4 million Americans are currently living with Alzheimer's disease, and by the time symptoms show up, the disease has often been building for 10 to 20 years.  Add in the roughly one in three Americans carrying the genetic marker tied to higher risk, and the scale of what's coming becomes hard to ignore. Despite the stats, Dr. Ken Sharlin doesn't order a test unless it's going to change what he does next.  Most of what he needs to know comes from listening first. Some of his MS patients have gone years without disease-modifying medication. Others no longer meet the criteria for the diagnosis they came in with.
