#77. One Woman, the wilderness, and the confidence that comes with age with Sheila Nollert

At 65, she paddled into the Canadian wilderness alone. There was no phone signal, no quick way out.Just a canoe, a tent, and everything she needed on her back. But this episode isn’t only about an adventure in the wilderness. It’s about the years leading up to that moment - the spark that began when Sheila first saw another woman heading out alone, the doubts and ageist comments that almost convinced her it wasn’t for her, and the quiet decision that she didn’t want to reach the end of life wondering what if. We talk about what it actually took to prepare for a solo backcountry canoe trip, what it felt like spending days without seeing another human being, and the shift that happened when she came home. The real story is what the expedition revealed about confidence, capability, and the narratives we absorb about ageing. If you’ve ever caught yourself thinking “maybe I’m too old for that now”… this conversation will make you pause for thought. #73. Movement, Midlife and finding the courage to Roar your story with Hilary Salzman interviewing Wendy Welpton

For this first conversation episode of 2026 on Make Movement Matter, I handed my host seat to my friend and fellow author Hilary Salzman, and let her ask the questions this time. What followed was an honest, wide-ranging conversation about writing a book, finding your voice, and what it really looks like to create meaningful work alongside motherhood, midlife changes, and the realities of running a business. We talk about: the shift from corporate life to work that feels deeply personal why authenticity can feel so uncomfortable, and is so necessary how vulnerability shows up in business (and where boundaries still matter) the impact of social media, visibility, and being seen the role of self-compassion when growth feels messy and why community support is often the quiet force behind big changes This episode isn’t just about my book, it’s also about what happens when you stop self-editing, trust your message, and allow it to evolve - even when you’re not quite sure where it’s all leading. If you’ve ever felt the pull to say something meaningful, but wondered whether it’s “enough” or whether now is the right time, this conversation might land closer to home than you expect. #71. Looking back, moving forward with Wendy Welpton

As we come to the end of the year, this solo episode is a moment to both reflect and look forward. I’m sharing my perspective on why celebrating small wins matters just as much as big milestones, how our relationship with movement and trust in our bodies shapes how we experience life, and why self-kindness and realistic intentions create more sustainable change than pressure-filled resolutions. It’s a reflective conversation about tuning in, appreciating what the human body can do, and moving into the new year with curiosity, compassion, and hope. Whether the festive season feels joyful, complicated, or somewhere in between, this episode is an invitation to keep moving in ways that support you; physically, mentally, and emotionally. #70. The Well-Lived Life with Dr Gladys McGarey - re-release from July 2024

A very special re-release as we near the end of 2025. This conversation with Dr Gladys McGarey was one of the greatest privileges of my podcasting life. We recorded it in July 2024, just a couple of months before she passed away, and I had no idea at the time that it would be one of her final interviews. Listening back now, her wisdom lands even more deeply. We talked about what it really means to feel “stuck” in life and how to find the true source of that stuckness. We explored her beautiful Five L’s; life, love, laughter, labour and listening, and the way she saw movement not just as a physical act, but as a way of staying connected to purpose. She spoke about choosing to move toward light rather than fear, about ageing into health, about the joy that comes from simply being alive… and the gentle power of listening and caring for one another as humans. As we head into 2026, it felt like the perfect moment to bring this episode back. It’s grounding, perspective-shifting, and it’s a reminder that we always have a choice in how we move through the world, both literally and emotionally. I hope her words encourage you to take stock of where you are, reconnect with what matters, and step into the new year with a little more hope, joy, and curiosity. This one is truly special. 💜 To find out more about today's guest and for the full show notes, visit:The Make Movement Matter Podcast If you enjoy this podcast, please press Follow and Rate and Review.  To support the show and help me to keep making the podcast, please contribute by Buying Me a Coffee...or Tea!  Connect with your host, Wendy, founder of Reclaim Movement, on:Instagram | YouTube | Website
