Burning Woman - Between the Seasons Book Episode

NAUTILUS AWARD WINNING Burning Woman is a breath-taking and controversial woman’s journey through history— personal and cultural—on a quest to find and free her own power. From Amazon#1 bestselling author, Lucy H. Pearce Uncompromising and all-encompassing, Pearce uncovers the archetype of the Burning Women of days gone by—Joan of Arc and the witch trials, through to the way women are burned today in cyber bullying, acid attacks, shaming and burnout, fearlessly examining the roots of Feminine power—what it is, how it has been controlled, and why it needs to be unleashed on the world during our modern Burning Times. Burning Woman explores: Burning from within: a woman’s power—how to build it, engage it and not be destroyed by it. Burning from without: the role of shame, and honour in the time-worn ways the dominant culture uses fire to control the Feminine. The darkness: overcoming our fear of the dark, and discovering its importance in cultivating power. This incendiary text was written for women who burn with passion, have been burned with shame, and who at another time, in another place, would have been burned at the stake. With contributions from leading burning women of our era: Isabel Abbott, ALisa Starkweather, Shiloh Sophia McCloud, Molly Remer, Julie Daley, Bethany Webster ... 62: Kat Shaw - Uprising : Art, Activism and the Red Lipstick of Rebellion

My guest today is Kat Shaw - a return guest - check out Episdoe 35 Unapologetic. Kat is a visual artist based in the UK who is known for her vibrant celebratory paintings of real, juicy naked female bodies. Over the last 7 years, Kat has painted over 3000 glorious women into Goddesses, held many successful exhibitions and live shows, run enriching workshops and paints not only onto canvases, but also directly onto women’s bodies! As an activist artist, Kat prides herself on dismantling the patriarchy, breaking society’s stereotypical views of beauty and challenging every negative paradigm that women have been drip fed since birth, instead, encouraging them to step into unapologetic empowerment. Having made her name painting the glorious nude reality that is a woman’s body, self-worth, self-love and self-belief are at the centre of her art, rather than airbrushing, filtering, photoshopping and the “only one size fits all” approach to beauty. Glorifying every single body shape, Kat challenges the images of perfection of the female form that are so rife in today’s culture. katshaw.art/ Heads up this is a fabulously sweary episode with lots of talk about women’s bodies and nakedness.
