Spider-Man, Demons, And The Line Between Conviction And Control

Send us Fan Mail Somebody on Instagram swore the new Spider-Man movie is “astral projection,” “witchcraft,” and a fast track to catching demons through the screen and that rant opens a floodgate for us. We laugh, but we also take the moment seriously, because it exposes a real tension for Christians: how do we live with discernment without sliding into fear, moral panic, or trying to control everybody else’s choices? We talk about the difference between personal conviction and turning your preferences into a rulebook for the whole church. Pastor Jason breaks down why trying to “fix the world” by nitpicking behavior misses the point of the gospel, and how religious performance can become its own kind of camouflage. We pull in Scripture from Colossians 2 on “don’t handle, don’t taste, don’t touch,” and why those rules can look spiritual while doing nothing to transform the heart. We also get honest about maturity, weaker consciences, and how patience and love should shape the way we talk to other believers. Along the way, you’ll hear real life updates about sending a daughter to college, starting a new sales job, and a painfully relatable rant about Verizon and AT&T store runarounds. But the big takeaway is simple: holiness is not earned by avoidance, and spiritual growth isn’t powered by shame. Transformation comes from increasing love for Jesus until the things that don’t fit your identity start falling away. Watch or listen, then share this with a friend and leave a review. Why is it so hard for men to have joy?

Send us Fan Mail LeBron to the 76ers? A terrifying rescue robot with a chainsaw? “Praise Energy” and “Drink Yahweh” showing up on your timeline? We start there, because real life is weird right now, and it’s worth laughing about. We debate whether a stacked roster changes the way we talk about greatness, and we get honest about how hype, narratives, and expectations can warp the way we judge people and ourselves.  Then we pivot into something deeper: the way Christian culture markets itself, and what happens when faith becomes the headline instead of the foundation. We talk about the difference between building a great product that reflects Christ through service and excellence versus leading with Christian branding as the selling point. It’s funny, but it’s also a real question about authenticity, witness, and what we’re actually trying to communicate.  The core of the conversation lands on men’s joy and men’s spiritual health. We admit how easy it is to live on the grind, treating joy like a vacation you earn later, while Scripture says the joy of the Lord is strength right now. We walk through practical rhythms like prayer, worship, gratitude, and community, and we anchor the whole thing in John 15:9-11 where Jesus ties joy to abiding in His love and keeping His commandments. We also ask a hard question: are we using spiritual disciplines to manage sin and keep life running, or are we actually learning obedience that leads to peace?  If you’ve been working hard but still feel empty, this one is for you. Chris Brown Concert, RJ's Police Chase, and Parenting in 2026

Send us Fan Mail We just stepped into a new era: Deeper Roots is going social. Along with the audio, we’re putting out video clips across YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, and anywhere you get content, because we want the conversation to be easier to share and harder to ignore. And we kick it off with a question we never thought we’d ask out loud: what if the Apostle Paul was actually extremely short? It starts as a funny Bible conspiracy, but it turns into a real talk about what Scripture does and doesn’t say, why surface-level takes go viral, and how God has always used people the world would overlook.  Then we swing into sports and culture with the World Cup final and the way fans build narratives, including the conspiracy side of FIFA chatter. From there we debate the NBA 2K27 cover choice, Victor Wembanyama’s rise, and why Jalen Brunson’s résumé still might not beat a league’s marketing machine. If you’ve ever wondered how companies pick “the face” instead of the most deserving season, we break that down in plain language.  The heart of the conversation lands in parenting, media, and holiness. We talk Toy Story 5, The Sandlot, nostalgia, and how you rewatch childhood favorites and suddenly notice what flew over your head. One of us shares an anniversary concert experience that turned into a spiritual check, sparking a bigger discussion about sexualization, what kids absorb, and the tension between protecting your children and preparing them. We close with a real-life story that sounds like a video game: a new job, a neighborhood turn, and a near-miss police chase that leaves everyone grateful to be safe.  Subscribe for more honest conversations, share this with a friend who loves faith and culture talks, and leave a review so more people can find Deeper Roots. Should Christians Use Betting Apps?

Send us Fan Mail Your timeline is loud for a reason. One minute it’s World Cup edits, Messi lore, and the Ronaldo debate. The next minute it’s a flood of betting ads that don’t just want you to watch the game, they want you to stake your peace on it. We start with a quick praise report about new jobs and shifting schedules, then we ride the sports energy straight into a serious question: what are these thrills doing to our hearts and our money? We talk about the rise of “culture betting,” where people can wager on almost anything, and why the marketing feels harmless while the long-term impact can be brutal. From budgeting and stewardship to self-control and maturity, we wrestle with the pull to chase quick wins instead of building a stable life. Along the way, we connect the dots between dopamine habits, micro spending, and the modern pressure to “treat yourself” even when it leaves you more restless than before. The conversation gets personal as we dig into contentment, gratitude, and joy that holds up when the excitement fades. We pull wisdom from Joseph’s faithfulness through setbacks, Ecclesiastes’ honesty about vanity, and the deep truth that real joy is found in God’s presence, not in achievements or attention. If you’ve been asking, “Why am I still not satisfied?” this one gives language, conviction, and a better path forward. Subscribe for more conversations like this, share it with a friend who needs steady joy, and leave a review. What’s one “cheap thrill” you’re ready to stop feeding? Support the show

How to Date As A Christian

Send us Fan Mail A relationship can feel effortless and still be wrong for your future, and that’s the tension we sit in today. A listener texts us from North Carolina asking for Christian dating advice: he’s pursuing a woman he really likes, the connection feels natural, but they keep bumping heads on what they want out of life. He’s praying, but he doesn’t feel like he’s hearing anything from God. So what do you do when the chemistry is strong, the questions are serious, and heaven feels quiet? We dig into practical discernment that goes beyond a “checklist” or a rush to find “the one.” We talk about naming nonnegotiables early, learning the difference between preferences and convictions, and why conflict in dating can actually be useful because it reveals how both people communicate under pressure. We also ask the harder spiritual questions: Are you growing closer to Christ together, or just enjoying each other’s presence? Are you moving in the same direction with a similar hunger for God, even if your maturity levels differ? Then we get concrete about overthinking and fear. We unpack what a sober decision looks like, why boundaries matter, how fasting and wise counsel can clear the noise, and why your personal walk with God has to be strong before you try to steward someone else’s heart. We close with a bold prayer that can change everything: “If it’s not Your will, shut it down.” If this conversation helps you, subscribe, share it with a friend who’s dating, and leave a review so more people can find it. Should Christians Be Rich

Send us Fan Mail New York is popping off after a game night, and not in a good way. We start by talking through the postgame chaos and why sports fandom can never be a free pass to act violent, especially when regular people are just trying to get home safe. Then we get into the basketball side, too: how a team blows a huge lead, what coaching should do to stop a run, and why “slow the game down” is basically wisdom for life. From there, a viral headline takes us somewhere deeper: a trillionaire story and the question behind it. Does God want Christians to be extremely wealthy? Is wealth a blessing, a byproduct of wisdom, or sometimes a trap that makes faith unnecessary? We push back on prosperity gospel thinking, talk about biblical examples of rich believers, and keep coming back to motive and stewardship. Money can fund real help for real people, but it can also reveal what we worship when nobody is watching. We wrap with two moments that hit close to home: a scary pool-day accident where a kid’s tooth gets knocked out and a dentist puts it back in within the time window, plus a proud dad update about a daughter’s graduation and major scholarships. If you care about faith and finances, Christian stewardship, and real-life stories that make you rethink what matters, this one is for you. Subscribe for more, share this with a friend who debates money and faith, and leave a review so more people can find the show. What do you think: is it okay to be rich and Christian?
