#50 - Leaving LGBTQ with Carolyn Wiley

If you could define yourself by one thing, what would it be? This week Kimberly sits down with Dr. Carolyn Wiley, CEO and founder of Rose and Pearl Publishing, for a raw and honest conversation about the fourteen years she spent living as a lesbian, married and divorced twice within that community, and the moment Jesus became more to her than any relationship, identity, or blessing she was chasing. Carolyn opens up about the childhood trauma that shaped her path, the counselors who finally named the real issue, and the two months of daily scripture reading with her wife that led her to walk away from the relationship and back to Christ. She and Kimberly talk honestly about what it means to separate a person's identity from their behavior, why so many in the LGBTQ community equate disagreement with rejection, and how loving someone well never requires approving of every choice they make. This episode isn't about condemnation. It's an honest, tender look at faith, identity, and what happens when you finally want the Giver more than the gifts. In this conversation they cover: The difference between who God made you to be and the behavior you choose Why the root of Carolyn's same sex relationships was pride, not sexuality How to love a family member well when you disagree with their lifestyle What actually changed when Carolyn and her wife started reading the Bible together Practical resources for parents walking through this with their own children 📌 Dr. Carolyn Wiley's links Website: https://roseandpearl.net Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/roseandpearlpublishing/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/carolynwileywrites LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/company/rose-and-pearl-publishing YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@thepublishedpearl/featured Resource for parents, How to Love Your Prodigal Child God's Way: https://therubytent.com/lovegodsway 📌 Connect with Kimberly Email: Roomatthetableforyou@gmail.com 📌 The Heart Posture Collective → https://theheartposturecollective.com/?via=kimberly The Heart Posture Collective is an online community built by James and Trisha Fenimore (Christian Speakers, Authors, Ministry partners, and Mentors) that focuses on helping believers live their faith, not just show up at church on Sunday. #49 - RISING with Strength & Courage with Christy Imhoff

Can your faith carry you through the worst moment of your life? This week Kimberly sits down with her bestie, Christy Imhoff, for a raw and profound conversation about losing her son, Reese Joseph Imhoff, to osteosarcoma after a three-year battle. Reese fought with a bravery and faith that left everyone around him in awe — 19 rounds of chemo and immunotherapy, multiple major surgeries, over 300 nights in the hospital — and never lost his trust in God through any of it. His life verse, Joshua 1:9, "Be strong and courageous, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go," became the anchor for his whole journey. Christy opens up about what's come since: seven years of traumatic grief, the toll it takes on a marriage and a family, the friendships that fell away and the ones that held on, and what it actually means to keep showing up for God when you're still asking Him why. This episode isn't about tying grief up in a bow — it's an honest look at holding sorrow and faith at the same time, and it's full of real, practical ways to love someone who's grieving well. In this conversation they cover: - The difference between "normal" grief and traumatic grief - Why losing a child changes marriages, friendships, and family dynamics - Practical tools that helped Christy's family survive: therapy, EMDR, and a weekly ritual honoring Reese - Why saying a deceased loved one's name is a gift, not a wound - How this journey has deepened — and complicated — Christy's faith 📌 Christy Imhoff's links Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/imhoffoc/ Rise to Cure Osteosarcoma Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/risetocureos/ Website: https://www.risetocureos.com/ 📌 Connect with Kimberly Email: Roomatthetableforyou@gmail.com 📌 The Heart Posture Collective → https://theheartposturecollective.com/?via=kimberly The Heart Posture Collective is an online community built by James and Trisha Fenimore (Christian Speakers, Authors, Ministry partners, and Mentors) that focuses on helping believers live their faith — not just show up at church on Sunday. This week Kimberly sits down with Dr. Sherri, a clinical psychologist turned radical follower of Jesus, for a conversation that gets to the heart of what real mental health looks like for a believer. After years in private practice, Dr. Sherri felt the Lord pulling her away from traditional psychology and into a ministry built entirely on scripture. She opens up about the relationship and season of rock bottom that led her back to Christ, and how that surrender became the foundation for Mindset of the Redeemed, her teaching ministry that helps believers take their thoughts captive and stand against the enemy's lies. This episode challenges the idea that brokenness is our identity and points instead to the truth of who God says we are. In this conversation they cover: - Dr. Sherri's path from clinical psychologist to Bible teacher and why she stepped away from her practice - The relationship and low point that brought her back to a wholehearted walk with Jesus - Why she believes the mental health industry has been deeply influenced by the enemy - The difference between coping and the hope Christ actually offers - How to recognize the enemy's lies and take every thought captive - Why preparation and daily time in the word matter more than quick fixes - Her ministries Mindset of the Redeemed and Thriving Thoughts Global 📌 Connect with Kimberly Email: Roomatthetableforyou@gmail.com 📌 The Heart Posture Collective → https://theheartposturecollective.com/?via=kimberly The Heart Posture Collective is an online community built by James and Trisha Fenimore (Christian Speakers, Authors, Ministry partners, and Mentors) that focuses on helping believers live their faith- not just show up at church on Sunday. #47 - Leaving Satanism with Riaan Swiegelaar

What does it take to walk away from twenty years in the occult, including years spent as co-founder of South Africa's Satanic Church? For Riaan Swiegelaar, it took a two minute encounter that changed everything. Riaan grew up in a Christian home but grew disillusioned by what he saw behind the scenes of church culture. His search for something deeper led him through Hare Krishna temples, Islam, meditation, yoga, Reiki, and crystal healing before pulling him into Satanism, where he spent years immersed in rituals and spiritual practices he now calls deeply destructive. Then one night in May of 2022, while preparing for a ritual, a light filled the room and Jesus appeared to him. That moment led to repentance, deliverance, and a completely new life. Today Riaan runs a deliverance ministry, helping others recognize the small compromises that open the door to spiritual bondage and pointing them back to freedom in Christ. In this conversation they cover: How a search for a deeper connection with God led Riaan away from the church and into twenty years of occult practiceWhat life inside the Satanic Church actually looked likeThe moment Jesus appeared to him and the encounter that changed his lifeWhat it cost him to walk away, and why he says he would do it againThe small "cookies," or compromises, that quietly open the door to spiritual oppressionWhy deliverance is the work of Christ, not a human performanceHow to recognize spiritual warfare in everyday life Connect with Riaan Swiegelaar 📌 Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/riaan_swiegelaar/ 📌 Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/riaan.swiegelaar.2025 📌 Website: https://www.deliverance4me.org 📌 Connect with KimberlyEmail: Roomatthetableforyou@gmail.com📌 The Heart Posture Collective → https://theheartposturecollective.com/?via=kimberlyThe Heart Posture Collective is an online community built by James and Trisha Fenimore (Christian Speakers, Authors, Ministry partners, and Mentors) that focuses on helping believers live their faith- not just show up at church on Sunday. #46 - Spiritual Deception - the Jehovah’s Witnesses with Kyla Gage

Are you part of a high-control group? Does your faith demand strict obedience and performative works? Kyla Gage was a third-generation Jehovah's Witness who never felt seen or valued growing up. After years of searching for love in dangerous places and eventually being excommunicated from her family, she started seeking God for herself, apart from the religion she'd inherited. In this episode, Kyla walks through what life inside the organization really looks like, the doctrinal differences most people don't know about, and the long road that led her out of a controlling belief system and into a real relationship with Jesus. This conversation is both a testimony of freedom and an honest look at spiritual deception. In this conversation they cover: - Growing up as a third-generation Jehovah's Witness and what daily life in the organization actually involves - How the Watchtower and Awake publications shape belief before members ever open a Bible - Key doctrinal differences, including how Jehovah's Witnesses view Jesus and the resurrection - The emotional isolation, family strain, and self-worth struggles Kyla carried from childhood into adulthood - Her years of searching through other belief systems before finally opening a real Bible - How she found and surrendered to the true Jesus, and what her faith looks like now - Why she now shares her story publicly to help others still inside the organization 📌 Kyla Gage's Links Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/lambs.and.labyrinths/ YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@LambsandLabyrinths TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@lambs.and.labyrint Email: lambsandlabyrinths@gmail.com 📌 Connect with Kimberly Email: Roomatthetableforyou@gmail.com 📌 The Heart Posture Collective → https://theheartposturecollective.com/?via=kimberly The Heart Posture Collective is an online community built by James and Trisha Fenimore (Christian Speakers, Authors, Ministry partners, and Mentors) that focuses on helping believers live their faith- not just show up at church on Sunday. #45 - Following the Call - From Silicon Valley to Service with Jen Smith

Do you ever feel a quiet tug that there's something more, even when life looks good on paper? JJ Smith spent decades building a career in Silicon Valley, from public relations to cybersecurity, riding the highs of startups and IPOs alongside her husband. But beneath the wins, she kept sensing God tugging at her heart for something else. What started with a brochure for an orphanage in Russia turned into years of ministry, a chance lunch that planted a seed, and eventually a full pivot into International Justice Mission, where she now helps fight human trafficking and slavery around the world. JJ's story is proof that God moves in small steps, not just big leaps, and that the same skills you built in your career might be exactly what He wants to use for something greater. In this conversation they cover: - Leaving ambition culture behind without giving up your gifts - How a single brochure and a simple yes changed the course of JJ's life - What it looks like when God closes doors so you can walk through the right one - The work International Justice Mission does to fight trafficking and slavery worldwide - Practical ways anyone can get involved, from prayer to giving to advocacy - Finding purpose in your second act, whatever season you're in 📌 Learn more about International Justice Mission: IJM's Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/ijm/ IJM's Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/InternationalJusticeMission/ IJM's Website: https://www.ijm.org/ The Second Mountain by David Brooks: https://a.co/d/0bpjROlA 📌 Connect with Kimberly Milo / Room at the Table Email: Roomatthetableforyou@gmail.com 📌 The Heart Posture Collective → https://theheartposturecollective.com/?via=kimberly The Heart Posture Collective is an online community built by James and Trisha Fenimore (Christian Speakers, Authors, Ministry partners, and Mentors) that focuses on helping believers live their faith- not just show up at church on Sunday. #44 - Free At Last with Jen Savage

Have you ever tried to out-perform your way into God's approval, only to end up terrified you're still not doing enough? In this episode of Room at the Table, Kimberly Milo sits down with Jen Savage, a registered nurse who spent years trapped in a cycle of fear, obsession, and control disguised as faith. Jen grew up in the Bible Belt with a deep reverence for scripture, but underneath it was a mind wired for OCD long before she ever had the diagnosis. Combine that with a fear-based, performance-driven version of Christianity, and Jen found herself consumed by intrusive thoughts about sin, hell, and whether she was really saved, a cycle so overwhelming it led her into suicidal ideation during college. Her story is a raw look at what happens when mental illness and religious legalism collide, and what it took for her to finally find the real gospel of grace. In this conversation they cover: - Growing up in a fear-based, rule-driven church environment and mistaking control for faith - Living for years with undiagnosed OCD and how it fused with her spiritual life - The suicidal ideation she battled in college and the moment a friend intervened - Reading Ephesians 2 in 2019 and the instant she understood salvation by grace, not works - Getting free from suicidal thoughts the moment she met the real Jesus, and pursuing OCD therapy and medication afterward - How to tell the difference between a healthy church and one built on fear and control - Why "Jesus plus anything else" is not the gospel, and what that means for how we read scripture Jen's testimony is proof that questioning what you were taught is not a betrayal of faith. Sometimes it is the only way to actually find Him. #43 - Grace & Gratitude; Embracing God’s Provision with Shannon Smith

What do you do when the life you built with someone is suddenly cut in half? In this episode, Kimberly sits down with longtime friend Shannon Smith, just three and a half months after the sudden loss of her husband Morgan. On a Monday morning in early December, Morgan went to the gym feeling fine and was gone by the end of the day, the result of a congenital brain malformation no one knew was there. Shannon walks through that day in detail: the chaplain who met her at the emergency room doors, the pastor who happened to have lunch on the calendar with Morgan that very afternoon, the friends and neighbors who showed up before she even had to ask. She talks honestly about raising two daughters through grief, about the difference between leading with logic and leading with feeling, and about choosing gratitude on purpose, even on the hard days. This is a conversation about grace that shows up exactly when you need it, and about what it looks like to keep your faith intact when everything else falls apart. In this conversation they cover: - The morning everything changed, and the small moments Shannon now recognizes as God's providence - Why the grace people extend during grief should be the same grace we extend all the time - Raising daughters with different grief styles, one led by logic and one led by emotion - The decision to donate Morgan's organs and the honor walk that followed - How community and church family carried Shannon's family through the hardest weeks - What Shannon wishes she could tell anyone facing sudden loss - Why she believes there is room at the table for grieving people too 📌 Connect with Shannon Smith: Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/shannonleesmith Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/eshannonlee/ Morgan Smith GoFundMe: https://gofund.me/0aa8d4a02 Konrad Reuland Foundation Speech: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t4yzx88qZ1k Morgan’s Celebration of Life: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uqQ7bX9tL_A 📌 Connect with Kimberly Milo: Email: roomatthetableforyou@gmail.com 📌 The Heart Posture Collective → https://theheartposturecollective.com/?via=kimberly The Heart Posture Collective is an online community built by James and Trisha Fenimore (Christian Speakers, Authors, Ministry partners, and Mentors) that focuses on helping believers live their faith- not just show up at church on Sunday.
