What If God Says Go Before You’re Ready? Faith, Surrender & Taking the Next Step

What if God is asking you to move… but you don't feel ready? What if you're standing at the bottom of the staircase, asking God to turn on every light so you can see exactly where you're going? Sis… that's not how faith works. In this episode of Girl, Date the Good Guy, we're talking about what it really looks like to trust God when you don't have the whole plan. We start with Psalm 37:4 and the desires of our hearts—and why delighting in God isn't about treating Him like a genie who gives us everything we want. When we fully surrender our lives to Christ and walk with Him, He begins transforming our hearts and aligning our desires with His. And that's where faith comes in. Because sometimes God doesn't give you the whole staircase. He gives you the next step. I'll share what I've been learning about having what I call “crazy faith”—including moments when God has asked me to move, release things, and prepare for what's next without knowing exactly how everything would come together. We'll talk about: Why faith doesn't require you to see the whole picture Why surrender has to come before the step What Psalm 37:4 really means about the desires of your heart How God begins to align our desires with His as we walk with Him The difference between faith and certainty Why being afraid doesn't mean you don't have faith What Abraham teaches us about going without knowing where you're going Why faith eventually requires movement What to do when God says “go” before you feel ready Why you shouldn't let fear become your GPS How faith applies to your love life, singleness, waiting, and relationships Why you don't need the whole love story to obey God today How to recognize and take your next step And maybe the biggest question of all: What if the thing you're afraid to step into is actually the place God is taking you? You don't need to see the whole staircase. You just need to trust the One who's leading you. Scriptures Mentioned Psalm 37:4 Jeremiah 29:11–13 Proverbs 3:5–6 John 15:7 Hebrews 11:1 Hebrews 11:8 Holy Reflection Take some time this week and ask yourself: What step have I been afraid to take because I don't know what happens after it? Have I truly surrendered the outcome to God? What is God asking me to do next? Not step seven. Not the whole staircase. Just the next step. What If Love Means Letting Go? | The Truth About Holy Love

What if letting go isn’t giving up on love? What if sometimes, it’s the very thing God uses to teach you what love really is? Sis, there’s a difference between holding on because God told you to—and holding on because you’re afraid to release what you want. In this episode of Girl, Date the Good Guy, we’re talking about the uncomfortable truth of Holy Love: sometimes love requires surrender. Not chasing. Not forcing. Not manipulating the outcome. Not trying to make something happen before God’s timing. Sometimes, you have to open your hand and trust God with what—or who—you’ve been holding so tightly. We’ll talk about what it really means to love someone without losing yourself, how surrender can reveal what’s actually yours to carry, and why letting go doesn’t always mean the end. Sometimes, it simply means getting out of God’s way. Because Holy Love doesn’t require you to abandon your standards, your peace, or your relationship with God just to keep someone. Scripture: “Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him and he will do this.” — Psalm 37:5 So grab your coffee, sis, and come sit with me in your Holy Space. This is your Holy Rescue. In this episode, we’ll talk about: The difference between surrendering and giving up Why love cannot be built on chasing or control What happens when you release someone to God How Holy Love protects your peace and your standards Why sometimes the most loving thing you can do is let go Holy Reflection What am I still holding onto that God is asking me to place back in His hands? 💌 Join The Holy Rescue Love Letters Receive weekly encouragement, biblical truth, podcast updates, and behind-the-scenes moments from Emily straight to your inbox. What If He's Not the Bad Guy? | When Toxic Relationships Distort Good Love

What if the reason you can't recognize good love… isn't because something is wrong with him? What if your past is still speaking louder than what's happening right in front of you? Sis, let's talk about it. When you've been through a toxic relationship, betrayal, manipulation, heartbreak, or repeated disappointment, it can change the way you see love. You learn to look for the red flag. You question people's motives. You wait for the other shoe to drop. And sometimes, without even realizing it, you can start looking at a good guy through the lens of a bad relationship. I know this because I've lived it. In this episode, I'm getting real about what God has been showing me during my Holy Pause—including the uncomfortable realization that I had been carrying old wounds, expectations, suspicion, and survival patterns into something God was showing me differently. Sometimes healing isn't just about getting over the person who hurt you. Sometimes healing is about learning how to see again. We're talking about: How toxic relationships can change the way you see love Why heartbreak can make you suspicious of healthy relationships The difference between discernment and fear How trauma from your past can affect the way you receive a good man What happens when God asks you to surrender something you desperately want The battle of the wills and learning to surrender control to God What it means to lay something at the altar and trust God with the outcome Facing the parts of yourself that still need healing Why God sometimes has to heal you before you're ready to hold what you've been praying for Learning to release expectations, control, and the need to fix everything Why you don't have to understand God's process to trust Him And we're getting into the real question: What if God brings you good love… but your past has trained you to expect bad love? Because sis, you don't want to spend your life making a good man pay for what a bad one did. You don't want your heartbreak to become your identity. And you don't want your trauma to become your discernment. There is healing available. There is peace on the other side of surrender. And sometimes God has to heal the lens before you can clearly see what's standing in front of you. 📖 Scripture Proverbs 3:5–6 “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding…” Sometimes you don't get the explanation first. Sometimes you get the invitation to trust. Welcome to your Holy Rescue. ❤️ 💌 Join The Holy Rescue Love Letters Receive weekly encouragement, biblical truth, podcast updates, and behind-the-scenes moments from Emily straight to your inbox. Boundaries Are Holy | Christian Dating, Red Flags & Knowing Your Worth

Sis… being a Christian does not mean being a doormat. And I know somebody needed to hear that. In this episode of Girl, Date the Good Guy, we’re talking about boundaries—and what it actually looks like to love people without allowing them to disrespect you. Because yes, we are called to love. Yes, we are called to forgive. Yes, we are called to extend grace. But grace does not mean giving people unlimited access to you. And boundaries don't mean you're becoming cold, bitter, or unforgiving. Sometimes a boundary is simply saying: “This doesn't work for me.” And then having the courage to stand behind it. I'm getting real about my own journey from “Spicy Emily” to learning how to contain my fire. 😂 I've had to learn how to stop people-pleasing, speak up, communicate when something isn't okay, take accountability when I'm wrong, and stop trying to fix people who aren't willing to do the work themselves. We're talking about why accountability and communication are essential in relationships, why you can be kind and still have a backbone, and what happens when you've communicated clearly but someone continues to cross the line. Because sometimes loving someone means having the hard conversation. And sometimes loving them means stepping back and putting them at the altar instead of trying to play Holy Spirit in their life. We'll also talk about what Jesus teaches us about boundaries, how He walked away from situations that weren't His assignment, and why holiness does not require you to tolerate disrespect. And yes... I'm telling you about my recent bakery encounter because apparently God decided I needed a real-life boundaries test. 😂 Spoiler alert: Old Emily wanted to “punch-throat” somebody. New Emily used her words and went to management. Growth, baby. That's growth. And finally, we're bringing this into Christian dating—because when you know your worth, you start looking at red flags differently. You stop making excuses for disrespect. You stop confusing potential with character. You stop trying to rescue grown men. And you start paying attention to how someone responds when you communicate a boundary. You don't need a perfect man. You need a man who can communicate, take accountability, apologize, grow, and love you with the same gentleness and respect you're willing to give him. Because, sis... you are gold. You don't have to become hard to protect your heart. You just have to learn how to stand. In this episode, we're talking about: Why being kind doesn't mean accepting disrespect The difference between boundaries and control People-pleasing and learning to use your voice Communication and accountability in relationships Why you can't keep trying to fix grown people What it means to lay someone at the altar Jesus and biblical boundaries How to handle disrespect without losing your character What our daughters learn by watching how we handle conflict Christian dating, red flags, and knowing your worth Why healthy love requires mutual respect and accountability Boundaries are holy. Go get you some. ❤️ Scripture Luke 4:28–30 — Jesus walked through the crowd and went on His way. Matthew 10:14 — Jesus instructed His disciples to leave when they were not welcomed or received and shake the dust from their feet. 💌 Join The Holy Rescue Love Letters Receive weekly encouragement, biblical truth, podcast updates, and behind-the-scenes moments from Emily straight to your inbox. The Holy Pause That Changed Everything | Healing After a Breakup, Heartbreak & Toxic Relationships

I’m back, sis. ❤️ After three months in a Holy Pause—a season of consecration, surrender, and getting quiet with God—I’m finally back behind the microphone. And I’m not coming back as the same woman who stepped away. In this episode, I’m opening up about what happened during those three months and sharing parts of my story I haven’t really talked about here before. I grew up in religion, spent years searching for freedom and validation in the world, and eventually discovered something that changed everything: grace. I’m imperfect. That’s exactly why I need Jesus. During this Holy Pause, God began revealing just how much of my life had been shaped by survival, people-pleasing, perfectionism, fear, control, and the need to hold everything together. I had spent years trying to fix things I was never meant to fix—and even trying to save myself. Then came a night of raw honesty with God. Face-first on my pillow, crying out for Him to heal the places in me I could no longer carry, something broke. I stopped trying to put all the pieces of my life together and surrendered them to the One who could. I laid things on the altar. Including expectations. Because sometimes God asks us to surrender more than our sin. Sometimes He asks us to surrender our plans, our timelines, our need for control, and even the things we desperately want Him to do. And somewhere in that surrender, I found a peace I had never known before. This episode is also a reintroduction to Girl, Date the Good Guy and the beginning of a new season. We’re talking about the heart behind this podcast, what God has been birthing during my Holy Pause, and why I believe this space is becoming something bigger than dating. We’re talking about The Holy Rescue. A place for the woman sitting in the wreckage of a breakup. The woman healing from heartbreak. The woman trying to recover from a Toxic Relationship. The woman looking back and wondering why she ignored the Red Flags. The woman with a Broken Heart who isn't sure what comes next. If that's you, I want you to know something: God meets you right where you are. You don't have to have it all figured out before you come to Him. You don't have to be perfect. You just have to come. This is your holy space to heal, rise, and love again. This time... with God. In this episode: • Why I stepped away for three months • What God revealed to me during my Holy Pause • Growing up in religion and discovering grace • People-pleasing, perfectionism, and living from survival mode • The night I finally surrendered everything to God • What it means to lay expectations on the altar • Why this podcast is about more than dating • The beginning of The Holy Rescue • What's coming next for Girl, Date the Good Guy • The Holy Rescue Love Letters and The Vault • Why we're moving to one new episode every Thursday at 5:00 AM Stay Connected If this episode spoke to you, share it with a woman who needs to hear it. Nothing Changes If Nothing Changes: Breaking Cycles Through Surrender

Have you ever felt like you're walking in circles, repeating the same patterns, facing the same struggles, and wondering why nothing seems to change? In today's episode, I'm sharing a powerful lesson God has been teaching me during this season of consecration and surrender: Nothing changes if nothing changes. Through a personal conversation with my daughter, a question from a coworker, and my own testimony of breaking free from a 20-year cycle, we'll talk about what it really takes to move forward into God's promises. The truth is, lasting change doesn't come from trying harder—it comes from surrendering our plans, our timelines, and our will to God. If you've been circling the same mountain for far too long, this episode is for you. In This Episode, We Discuss: Why repeating the same actions produces the same results The spiritual danger of staying stuck in familiar cycles What God showed me during this season of consecration The conversation with my daughter that inspired this message Why surrender is the key to breakthrough How the Israelites wandered in the wilderness because of unbelief Learning to release your plans and trust God's direction Recognizing when God may be redirecting your path My personal testimony of breaking free from a toxic 20-year cycle Exciting updates about the future of the podcast and my upcoming book Key Scriptures Deuteronomy 2:3 "You have circled this mountain long enough. Now turn north." Jeremiah 29:11 "For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." Proverbs 3:5-6 "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight." Matthew 6:33 "But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well." Takeaway Sometimes the breakthrough you've been praying for is waiting on the other side of surrender. You don't have to keep circling the same mountain. God has a plan, a purpose, and a path forward for your life—but it requires trusting Him enough to let go of your own. Nothing changes if nothing changes. And nothing truly changes until we place God first. Podcast & Book Update As I continue this season of consecration, I'll be simplifying my schedule, preparing for the relaunch of the podcast, and finishing the manuscript for my very first book. Thank you for your prayers, encouragement, and support during this exciting season. I can't wait to share what's coming next. In this intimate check-in episode of Girl, Date the Good Guy, Emily shares a heartfelt update after stepping away from the podcast for a season of consecration. If you’ve ever felt led to pull back, get quiet, and reconnect with God—but didn’t fully understand why—this conversation will meet you right where you are. When God Calls You to Let Go and Enter a Season of Consecration

Have you ever felt God asking you to let something go… and it didn’t make sense? In this deeply personal and Spirit-led episode of Girl, Date the Good Guy, we’re talking about what it really means to enter a season of consecration—when God calls you to step back, surrender control, and trust Him in the unknown. This isn’t about losing something. It’s about being refined, realigned, and prepared for what God has next. Emily shares her own journey of being led into a season of stillness, what it looks like to release your grip on relationships, purpose, or plans, and how to hear God clearly when He calls you into the quiet. If you’ve been feeling a pull to slow down, step back, or lay something at God’s altar… this episode is your confirmation. 👑 What You’ll Learn in This Episode What a season of consecration really means and why God calls you into it How to surrender control to God when you’re afraid to let go Why stillness and solitude are necessary to hear God clearly How unhealed areas can keep you stuck in repeating cycles What it looks like to trust God even when you don’t know the outcome 🔥 Key Takeaways Surrender is not loss—it’s alignment with God’s will You cannot hear God clearly when your life is full of noise God uses seasons of stillness to refine, heal, and prepare you What you refuse to heal, you will repeat Obedience opens the door for God to move in your life 📖 Scriptures Referenced Proverbs 3:5-6 “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight.” Ecclesiastes 3:1 “There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens.” Luke 5:16 “But Jesus often withdrew to lonely places and prayed.” John 15:2 “He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit… while every branch that does bear fruit He prunes so that it will be even more fruitful.” Psalm 46:10 “Be still, and know that I am God.” 📝 Reflection What is God asking you to release in this season? Where is He calling you to be still… but you’ve been resisting? What might He be trying to heal in you before your next level? 📌 Assignment This week, enter your Holy Pause: Lay one thing down before God Spend intentional quiet time with Him Ask: “God, what are You trying to show me in this season?” Write down what He reveals to you. 👑 Closing No perfection.
