Ciara and Lisa: Tailgating, Marathon Madness & Cursive Writing

Episode 45 is here, and this week we're recording from two provinces! Ciara is back home in Moose Jaw while Lisa checks in from her backyard oasis, complete with a sort of thriving garden, free-range chickens, and plenty of summer updates. In Elks Files, we relive an incredible weekend as the Edmonton Elks dominated on the field. We recap the electric tailgate, the amazing fans we met, and tease some exciting behind-the-scenes content. Plus, don't miss another ticket giveaway for this weekend's Friday Night Lights Country theme game! Then it's time for the Crystal Glass Crystal Ball, where our friendly competition continues as we predict who will capture the CPKC Women's Open title in Edmonton. Will World No. 1 Nelly Korda take it? Can defending champion Brooke Henderson repeat? Or will Lydia Ko or Hannah Green steal the spotlight? More importantly... can Lisa extend her winning streak, or will Ciara finally close the gap? We also recap a weekend of highs and lows around Edmonton—from beautiful patio weather at Black Pearl and the Fairmont, to the marathon chaos that left thousands of runners frustrated amid construction and road closures. Finally, we dive into one of our favourite conversations yet: Is technology making us forget the basics? We debate whether today's generation can still read cursive, spell without autocorrect, drive a standard vehicle or read a paper map. Plus, with summer winding down, we share what's still left on our August bucket lists before the season comes to an end. ______________________________________________________________________ Sponsored by: Crystal Glass - crystalglass.ca Sorrentino's Restaurant Group - sorrentinos.group Edmonton Elks - goelks.com MeatHead - meatheadinc.ca Pro Co Painting - procopainting.ca Lisa and Ciara's hair provided by Concrete Blonde (ask for Calsea & Kendra) - concreteblondehairbody.com Ciara and Lisa's cosmetic dermatology & laser provided by RejuvaDERM - rejuvaderm.ca Studio podcast chairs custom made by Apex Upholstery and RUUM Concepts Episode lighting, cameras and editing by Grailed Media

Ciara and Lisa: Sour Puss, Construction & Love is Blind

This week on Off Air Talks, we kick things off with a big thank you to our family at Concrete Blonde for the best weekly blowouts and nails in the game. We also talk about the sun finally making an appearance, enjoying Meathead burgers, soaking up the best Edmonton Folk Fest weather in years, and, of course, discovered the Funicular still wasn't working after a bike trip home. Plus, Sour Puss is making a nostalgic comeback thanks to our beloved friend and camerman Jules! We also tee-up the Bridge Physio Charity Golf Tournament, supporting the University of Alberta Golden Bears men's soccer team happening Friday, then it's on to reality TV, as Love Is Blind Canada is officially on the way. Would we ever sign up? Probably not... but Bachelorette or Farmer Wants a Wife? Now we're talking. The city was buzzing as the NHL Coaches' Conference rolled into Edmonton and the Hlinka Gretzky Cup, so the JW Marriott Lounge became the place to be. We also spotted one of our favourite sights of the weekend - many dressed up for Edmonton's Anime Convention. In Elks Files, we preview Family Day at Commonwealth, this Saturday and this weekend's tailgating festivities. We also promote the upcoming Sorrentino's Mushroom Harvest Wine Dinner, show off our new Off Air Talks letter bracelets from Finn & Co., and wrap things up with this week's Crystal Glass Crystal Ball, where we're making predictions about Edmonton's never-ending construction season. _______________________________________________________________ Sponsored by: Crystal Glass - crystalglass.ca Sorrentino's Restaurant Group - sorrentinos.group Edmonton Elks - goelks.com MeatHead - meatheadinc.ca Pro Co Painting - procopainting.ca Lisa and Ciara's hair provided by Concrete Blonde (ask for Calsea & Kendra) - concreteblondehairbody.com Ciara and Lisa's cosmetic dermatology & laser provided by RejuvaDERM - rejuvaderm.ca Studio podcast chairs custom made by Apex Upholstery and RUUM Concepts Episode lighting, cameras and editing by Grailed Media

Ciara & Lisa: Big Valley Jamboree

One RV. Four days. Countless country stars. Zero sleep. This week, we’re recapping our wild adventure at Big Valley Jamboree in Camrose, Alberta. Trust us… it did not disappoint. Before we even made it to the festival grounds, we somehow found ourselves at a paint night hosted by Fletcher at A SuperRare Gallery, featuring artist Ashley O’Neil. There may have been a little too much wine for a Wednesday, but it ended up being one of the coolest experiences. Then the festival magic began out of town. We share how Canadian Camper completely saved the day with an unbelievable last-minute RV, why Hansen Distillery became our campsite MVP, and the incredibly thoughtful surprise from an Off Air Talks fan who hand-delivered cinnamon buns and perogies from Aunty Joan’s Porch Pick-Up and Goat Coffee from Camrose. There were random acts of kindness everywhere—including Kalvin from Camrose buying us a round of drinks, great visits with fans Pam then Selena and Marty, along amazing local artists we think deserve way more attention, campsite feasts thanks to Meathead, and hanging out with our buddy Jacks from CISN. Then came the festival chaos. Why couldn’t Cameron Whitcomb even land at BVJ? Keith Urban getting cancelled due to weather again and what on earth happened during Gavin Adcock’s absolutely unhinged performance that involved six beers, Jack Daniels, a shirtless crowd jump, and one of the wildest things we’ve ever heard yelled from a stage! Meanwhile… while that was happening, Lisa had her own unexpected backstage reunion with a Raya match. Plus, we look ahead to an incredible private chef experience with Chef Mike Edgar in support of the Alberta Cancer Foundation and Kimberley Homes, celebrate the Edmonton Elks’ highest attendance of the season as fans finally start believing again, and wrap things up with another Crystal Glass Crystal Ball, predicting whether Mother Nature will cooperate for this weekend’s Edmonton Folk Music Festival. _______________________________________________________________ Sponsored by: Crystal Glass - crystalglass.ca Sorrentino's Restaurant Group - sorrentinos.groupEdmonton Elks - goelks.com MeatHead - meatheadinc.ca Pro Co Painting - procopainting.ca Lisa and Ciara's hair provided by Concrete Blonde (ask for Calsea & Kendra) - concreteblondehairbody.com Ciara and Lisa's cosmetic dermatology & laser provided by RejuvaDERM - rejuvaderm.ca Studio podcast chairs custom made by Apex Upholstery and RUUM Concepts Episode lighting, cameras and editing by Grailed Media

Ciara and Lisa: RV Fallout, YEG Closures & Chosen Sisters

The countdown to Big Valley Jamboree is on… and then disaster strikes. Just two days before BVJ, the RV we were counting on completely falls through, sending us into full panic mode. We kick off the episode with the chaos, the laughs, and our desperate search for a Plan B. It also inspires this week’s Crystal Glass Crystal Ball prediction: where on earth will we end up staying or in what ha?! The Edmonton Elks are absolutely rolling, and we break down their incredible run as they prepare for a rematch with the Saskatchewan Roughriders after last week’s thriller. Plus, why Commonwealth Stadium might be one of the best entertainment bargains in the city, whether you’re heading to a football game or a concert. We also dive into the heartbreaking wave of business closures happening across Edmonton. From downtown businesses struggling through construction, crime and changing conditions, to local shops devastated by recent storms and flooding, it’s a reminder that many of our favourite local businesses need our support now more than ever. Lisa and Keiko also pay one final visit to the iconic Greta Bar before it closes its doors, squeezing in one last night of ski-ball and memories at a true Edmonton favourite. Then it’s on to the lighter side as we realize something funny about our friend group: almost all of us grew up with brothers instead of sisters. Is that why we’ve become each other’s chosen sisters? We get into friendship, family, and the unique bonds that have shaped us. There's also been a bizarre theft at Sorrentino's! You'll want to stick around for that story and investigation ;) We wrap things up with more stories from Ciara’s trip home to Moose Jaw, Lisa’s whirlwind weekend around Edmonton, the wild summer weather we’ve all been dealing with, and a look ahead to everything coming up at Big Valley Jamboree. _______________________________________________________________ Sponsored by: Crystal Glass - crystalglass.ca Sorrentino's Restaurant Group - sorrentinos.group Edmonton Elks - goelks.com MeatHead - meatheadinc.ca Pro Co Painting - procopainting.ca Lisa and Ciara's hair provided by Concrete Blonde (ask for Calsea & Kendra) - concreteblondehairbody.com Ciara and Lisa's cosmetic dermatology & laser provided by RejuvaDERM - rejuvaderm.ca Studio podcast chairs custom made by Apex Upholstery and RUUM Concepts Episode lighting, cameras and editing by Grailed Media

Ciara and Lisa: Hennessy’s Death, Hotdogs & Celeb Weddings

This week’s 40th episode is packed with summer stories, laughs, and a few unexpected twists. We kick things off with Elks Files, where we talk about the Edmonton Elks’ hot streak, why Friday night’s Dog Days of Summer game against the BC Lions is the perfect excuse to get out of the house (yes, you can bring your dog!), and why catching a game at Commonwealth is one of the best-value nights out in the city. Lisa also shares the heartbreaking story of losing her beloved chicken, Hennessy… but what happened afterward is something neither of us could have predicted. It’s equal parts bizarre and hilarious, you’ll definitely want to hear this one unfold. We share our ultimate go-to MeatHead BBQ dishes, celebrate the arrival of real summer weather, and put our Crystal Glass Crystal Ball to work predicting the next celebrity wedding that could become a full-blown media spectacle. We also spotlight another incredible vehicle cleaning from Fussy Detail, tease our upcoming road trip to Moose Jaw (Lisa’s first-ever visit to Saskatchewan!), and chat about spending time at the lake with Ciara’s family. Plus: -Why our last episode unexpectedly took off after one particular word had everyone talking. -Lisa’s plan to take our bestie Keiko on a Wine Wednesday date at Buco. -Ciara relives the unforgettable time she ate a hot dog live on air… without a bun at Taste of Edmonton. -Lisa shares K-Days stories, including seeing Ludacris perform, why the midway can get a little sketchy but so fun and why it’s still one of Edmonton’s can’t-miss summer traditions. _______________________________________________________________ Sponsored by: Crystal Glass - crystalglass.ca Sorrentino's Restaurant Group - sorrentinos.group Edmonton Elks - goelks.com MeatHead - meatheadinc.ca Pro Co Painting - procopainting.ca Lisa and Ciara's hair provided by Concrete Blonde (ask for Calsea & Kendra) - concreteblondehairbody.com Ciara and Lisa's cosmetic dermatology & laser provided by RejuvaDERM - rejuvaderm.ca Studio podcast chairs custom made by Apex Upholstery and RUUM Concepts Episode lighting, cameras and editing by Grailed Media
