Episode 23:Dating in Midlife: Younger Men, Red Flags & Dating Mistakes (PART 1)

Dating in midlife is a whole different game. 😂 In this episode of Feedbag, I sit down with my pal MF to talk about what it’s REALLY like to be dating in your 40s and 50s - from dating apps and terrible profiles to love bombing, red flags, chemistry, sex, age gaps, kids, and some seriously WTF dating stories. Apparently knowing what you want in midlife does NOT mean everyone else got the memo. 🚩 We talk about what actually matters when you’re dating in midlife, why a detailed dating profile is a good thing, the dating red flags that are an automatic NO, whether you really need instant chemistry, why getting physical too quickly can complicate things, and what it’s like trying to find a genuine relationship as a grown-ass adult. If you’re single and dating in your 40s or 50s, getting back into the dating pool after a long relationship, or just trying to figure out what the hell is going on with modern dating, this one is for you. Dating in midlife. Dating apps. Red flags. Chemistry. Sex. Relationships. And a whole lot of WTF. In this episode: 0:51 — Introduction to Midlife Dating 1:18 — Dating in our 20s vs now 4:16 — Profile Essentials for Men 6:54 — Dating Age Gaps 8:22 — Dating Younger Men 11:48 — Honesty and Vulnerability in Dating 12:40 — Expectations After a Date 12:47 — The Role of Physical Intimacy 14:55 — Building Chemistry Over Time 19:40 — Identifying Red Flags in Dating 21:14 — Red Flags in Dating 23:53 — Would You Rather If you're navigating dating, relationships, single life, or just trying to understand WTF is happening out there, you're in the right place. 🎥 New here? Episode 21: Bed Rails, Butts & Bird Rage

Feedbag: Bed Rails, Butts & Bird RageThis week on Feedbag, we’re back from a little getaway to Prince Edward County - and the conversation immediately turns to Gen X midlife - sleep disorders, bed rails, farts, packing disasters, questionable fatherly advice, and bird-related rage. Rupert tells the terrifying story of acting out a dream in his sleep, resulting in a very real collision with his nightstand, a trip to the hospital, and the installation of toddler bed rails on a king-size bed. Nat talks about the realities of midlife sleep: night sweats, blackout curtains, body pillows, fans, AC, mouth guards—and the sheer amount of equipment required just to get through the night. Then things take a decidedly less medical turn as we discuss farting, famous family farts, the mysterious physics of farting while sitting down, and the unforgettable moment when Nat’s fart apparently sounded like a cat. We also get into the art of packing for vacation, why the car is basically the suitcase, and the extremely British packing advice Rupert received from his dad - including one memorable question about condoms. And finally, we discover the one thing that can transform sweet, tolerant Nat into an absolutely furious person: someone confidently misidentifying a bird. Plus: guitars in the bedroom, Facebook as the new old-people platform, MySpace nostalgia, and plenty of nonsense along the way. In this episode: Gen X and the realities of midlifeThe Prince Edward County getawayMidlife sleep and nocturnal eventsThe nightstand injuryToddler bed rails on a king-size bedFamous childhood fartsWhy packing is the worstRupert’s dad’s unique approach to sex educationMySpace, Facebook and getting olderNat’s lifelong love of birds Chapters01:33 — Rupert’s Sleep Disorder 07:22 — Nat’s Fart Impediment 08:50 — Famous Farts 10:47 — Nat Hates Packing 12:03 — Rupert’s Dad and the Birds and Bees 16:52 — Nat Is a Bird Snob 🎥 New here? Episode 19 with Pay Chen: A Lasting Gen X Friendship

Pay Chen: Why Gen X Friendships Last | TV Careers, AI & Growing Up Analog In this episode, I'm hanging out with broadcaster and longtime friend Pay Chen for a wide-ranging conversation about what it means to grow up Gen X - and stay friends for decades. We talk about Pay's life in Canadian television and the changing landscape of media and freelancing. Pay shares what it was like building a TV career in the early 2000s, how the industry has shifted, and what it means to navigate work now in an AI-driven creative world. We reflect on more than 30 years of friendship, what keeps people connected through different cities, careers, and life stages, and why Gen X friendships hit differently. From university days in residence, to basement apartments, fax machines, and early careers in media, this episode is a nostalgic look at a generation that grew up just before the internet changed everything. We also get honest about: Redefining success in your 40s and beyondThe reality of freelance creative workWhat AI is already changing in media and content creationWhy working with good people matters more than titles or moneyAnd yes… a very memorable basement apartment story This is a conversation about friendship, aging, work, and what actually matters when you’ve been in the industry long enough to see everything change. 🎥 New here? Episode 18: 80s Road Trips Were Insane

This week on Feedbag, we’re heading straight back to the 1980s - when family road trips meant paper maps, packed station wagons, early morning departures, and absolutely zero GPS. We’re talking about the chaos and charm of 80s road trips: hot vinyl seats, cassette tapes on repeat, kids rolling around in the back of the car, and parents who somehow kept it all together (barely). Before iPhones, before in-car screens, before “Are we there yet?” could be answered by a tablet - there was just the open road, a highlighted map, and a lot of trust in Dad’s questionable navigation system. It’s nostalgic, funny, and a little shocking by today’s standards - but also kind of magical in a way we don’t really experience anymore. We’re getting into: Station wagons and the legendary “backseat zone”Paper maps vs GPS panicLeaving at 5:30am for reasons no one questionedRoad trip snacks, cassette tapes, and sibling fightsWhy getting lost was just part of the adventureWhat we miss (and definitely don’t miss) about 80s travelIf you grew up in the 80s or 90s, this one will hit you right in the memory bank. If you didn’t… you’re about to find out how different travel used to be. 🎥 New here? YAY! Hi!
