Raising Boys with Purpose | Parenting, Teens, Faith, Life Skills, Biblical Encouragement

Brooke Lynn | Parenting Coach for Moms of Boys, Preparing Teens for Adulthood

Feeling overwhelmed as a mom? Tired of the world’s negative view of boys? Wondering if you’re doing enough to prepare your son for the future God has for him? Welcome to Raising Boys with Purpose. I’m Brooke—boy mom and Christ follower—and I know firsthand how challenging it can be to raise sons who are ready to launch into adulthood. For more than 25 years, I’ve walked the road of raising two boys, navigating the joy, the questions, the prayers, the mistakes, and the constant desire to guide them well. I researched, lost sleep, learned the hard way, and discovered that raising boys intentionally—with a plan—makes all the difference. This podcast is here to encourage and equip you as you raise your son to become the man, God created him to be. Together, we’ll focus on building faith in God, responsibility, independence, discipline, resilience, and the real-life skills your son needs for a strong launch into adulthood. Each week, you’ll find two types of episodes: Tuesday teaching episodes that offer practical strategies, biblical wisdom, and encouragement for raising boys with purpose. Thursday episodes—Mom’s Perspective—where I share commentary on articles, news stories, and cultural conversations shaping how we raise our boys today. We’ll talk honestly about the challenges of raising boys in a noisy world, how culture views our sons, and how we can help them see themselves the way God sees them. And we’ll do it with truth, grace, encouragement, and a little humor—because motherhood needs that too. If you’re ready to parent with intention, pursue the future God has for your son, and walk this journey alongside another mom who understands, you’re in the right place. Grab your iced coffee—it’s time to start raising boys with purpose. 62 | What Do You Do When Your Teen Son Doesn’t Want Your Help? | Christian Parenting

Have you ever watched your son struggle with a decision and thought, If he would just let me help, I could make this so much easier? As our sons grow into young men, there are times when they simply don’t want our advice. And for moms, that can be hard—especially when we can see a solution, worry about the decision they’re making, or feel anxious about where their choices might lead. In this Mom’s Perspective™ episode of Raising Boys with Purpose™, we’re talking about why teen and young adult sons sometimes resist their mom’s help, what may be happening when they don’t want to talk, and how we can respond without closing the door to future conversations. We’ll also consider an important question for moms raising sons toward independence: How do we know when our son needs our guidance—and when he may need the opportunity to figure something out for himself? Because preparing our sons for adulthood isn’t only about what we teach them. Sometimes it’s also about how we respond as they begin making more of their own decisions—and learning to trust God when their path doesn’t look quite the way we expected. 🎧 LISTEN NEXT: 61 | How Can You Help Your Son Choose a College Major?  | Career Planning for Teens If your son is thinking about college, careers, a major, or what he wants his future to look like, Episode 61 pairs naturally with today’s conversation. 61 | How Can You Help Your Son Choose a College Major? | Career Planning for Teens

Is your son trying to decide what to major in—or wondering if he's chosen the right college major? Choosing a major can feel like a huge decision, especially when teens are being asked to think about a future career before they really know what that future will look like. In this episode of Raising Boys with Purpose™, we're talking about how moms can help their teen and young adult sons explore college majors and career options without adding more pressure to the process. We'll talk about looking beyond what your son enjoys to consider his strengths, job satisfaction, career opportunities, earning potential, job security, cost of education, and what the day-to-day work in a career actually looks like. I also share how we helped both of our sons get firsthand experience with careers they were considering—and why discovering what they didn't want to do was valuable too. Whether your son is just starting high school, choosing a college major now, or already questioning the major he chose, he doesn't have to have his entire future figured out. We can help our sons ask better questions, gather good information, explore their options, and seek God's guidance as they decide what comes next. 🎧 In this episode: choosing a college major, career planning for teens, college planning, career exploration, job opportunities, college costs, preparing teens for adulthood, and helping sons make independent decisions. 💬 Join the community: 👩‍👦 Private FB Group: Raising Boys with Purpose™ https://www.facebook.com/groups/raisingboyswithpurpose 📱 Follow along: 📸 Instagram: Raising Boys with Purpose™ https://www.instagram.com/raisingboyswithpurpose/ 👍 FB Page: Brooke Lynn – Parenting Coach https://www.facebook.com/BrookeLynnParentingCoach 💌 Weekly encouragement: 📬 Weekly Encouragement Email List https://raising-boys-with-purpose-community-86461.grwebsite.com/ ▶️ Watch on YouTube: 🔴 YouTube: Raising Boys with Purpose™ https://www.youtube.com/@RaisingBoyswithPurpose 🌐 Learn more: 🔗 Website: Coming soon About Podcast:  Raising Boys with Purpose™ is a Christian parenting podcast for moms raising teen boys and young men. 60 | How Involved Should You Be in Your Son’s Sports? | Parenting Teen Boys

If your son plays sports, have you ever wondered what your role should look like as he gets older? Should you stay for practices? How involved should you be during games? And how do you encourage your son without accidentally becoming a distraction or stepping into the coach’s role? In this episode of Raising Boys with Purpose™, we’re talking about how moms can support their sons in sports while also giving them room to grow in confidence and independence. Because being a supportive sports mom doesn’t mean there’s one perfect way to do it. Every son is different. Every family has different schedules and responsibilities. And what our sons need from us can change as they get older. We’ll talk about finding that balance between showing up and stepping back, supporting the things that matter to our sons, and remembering that we don’t have to get it all exactly right. If you’re raising a teen or young adult son, this episode is an encouraging reminder that sometimes simply knowing Mom is in his corner matters more than we realize. 💬 Join the community 👩‍👦 Private FB Group: Raising Boys with Purpose™ https://www.facebook.com/groups/raisingboyswithpurpose 📱 Follow along 📸 Instagram: Raising Boys with Purpose™ https://www.instagram.com/raisingboyswithpurpose/ 👍 FB Page: Brooke Lynn – Parenting Coach https://www.facebook.com/brookelynnparentingcoach 💌 Weekly encouragement: 📬 Weekly Encouragement Email List — https://raising-boys-with-purpose-community-86461.grwebsite.com/ ▶️ Watch on YouTube: 🔴 YouTube: Raising Boys with Purpose™ —https://www.youtube.com/@RaisingBoyswithPurpose 🌐 Learn more: 🏠 Website — Coming soon About Podcast:  Raising Boys with Purpose™ is a Christian parenting podcast for moms raising teen boys and young men. 59 | Are Youth Sports Becoming Too Much for Our Families? | Raising Teen Boys

Youth sports can be a wonderful part of growing up. Our sons have opportunities to challenge themselves, develop confidence, learn from coaches and teammates, and discover what they're capable of. But youth sports have changed. For many families, recreational and school sports are only the beginning. Travel teams, year-round competition, tournaments, and specialized training can quickly turn a son's sport into a much bigger commitment for the entire family. So how do we know what's right for our son? In this episode of Raising Boys with Purpose™, we're looking at the benefits of youth sports for boys while also having an honest conversation about travel sports, competitive youth athletics, and the time, financial, and family commitments that can come with them. We're not trying to decide whether travel sports are good or bad. Instead, we're looking at the bigger picture: What do we really want our sons to gain from playing sports—and how do we make choices that support both our son and our family? If you're raising a teen boy who loves sports, considering a travel team, or wondering how far to encourage his athletic interests, this episode will give you some things to think about as you decide what works for your family. 💬 Join the community: 👩‍👦 Private FB Group: Raising Boys with Purpose™ — https://www.facebook.com/groups/raisingboyswithpurpose 📱 Follow along: 📸 Instagram: Raising Boys with Purpose™ — https://www.instagram.com/raisingboyswithpurpose/ 👍 FB Page: Brooke Lynn – Parenting Coach — https://www.facebook.com/BrookeLynnParentingCoach 💌 Weekly encouragement: 📬 Weekly Encouragement Email List — https://raising-boys-with-purpose-community-86461.grwebsite.com/ ▶️ Watch on YouTube: 🔴 YouTube: Raising Boys with Purpose™ —https://www.youtube.com/@RaisingBoyswithPurpose 🌐 Learn more: 🏠 Website — Coming soon About Podcast:  Raising Boys with Purpose™ is a Christian parenting podcast for moms raising teen boys and young men. 58 | Empty Nest: What Comes Next for Mom? | Faith & Biblical Encouragement

What happens when you’ve spent years preparing your son to leave home…and then he actually does? For moms raising teen and young adult sons, we know independence is the goal. We want our boys to grow into capable young men with the faith, character, and life skills they need for adulthood. But knowing that doesn’t necessarily make the transition to an empty nest easy. In this Mom’s Perspective™ episode of Raising Boys with Purpose™, I’m sharing some of my own experience as my sons left home and I began adjusting to a quieter house and a different season of motherhood. We’ll talk about giving ourselves permission to miss our sons while still moving forward, staying connected as our relationships change, trusting God in a new season, and beginning to consider something we may not have thought much about while we were busy raising our kids—what comes next for us? Christian parenting doesn’t end when our sons leave home. It changes. And while they’re discovering what God has ahead for them, this can also be an opportunity for us to rediscover interests, invest in our marriages and relationships, try something new, and see where God may be leading us next. If you’re preparing for an empty nest, adjusting after your son has left for college or work, or learning how to parent a young adult from a little farther away, I hope this episode offers some biblical encouragement and reminds you that there is still so much ahead. 📖 Scripture Mentioned Ecclesiastes 3:1 • Jeremiah 29:11 🔗 CONNECT WITH RAISING BOYS WITH PURPOSE™ 💌 Join the Raising Boys with Purpose™ community: https://raising-boys-with-purpose-community-86461.grwebsite.com/ 👩‍👦 Join the Raising Boys with Purpose™ Facebook Group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/raisingboyswithpurpose 📱 Follow Raising Boys with Purpose™ on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/raisingboyswithpurpose/ 👍 Follow Brooke Lynn on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/BrookeLynnParentingCoach ▶️ WATCH ON YOUTUBE https://www.youtube.com/@RaisingBoyswithPurpose About Podcast:  Raising Boys with Purpose™ is a Christian parenting podcast for moms raising teen boys and young men. 57 | Helping Teens Build Healthier Phone Habits | Christian Parenting

Cell phones have become part of everyday life for our teen boys—but how do we help them learn to use them wisely? With schools across the country introducing new phone policies and growing concerns about screen time, distraction, social media, and mental health, many parents are wondering where the line should be. We want the safety and connection that phones provide, but we also see how easily they can compete for our sons’ attention. In this episode of Raising Boys with Purpose™, we’re talking about teen boys and cell phones, including how phone boundaries may look different from one family to another and why involving our sons in these conversations becomes increasingly important as they get older. Because our goal isn’t simply to control their screen time. It’s to help our sons develop the judgment, responsibility, and healthy technology habits they’ll need when we’re no longer there to set the limits for them. If you’re raising a teen or young adult son and trying to navigate phones, technology, independence, and life skills from a Christian parenting perspective, I hope this conversation encourages you to think about what works for your family—and reminds you that every conversation is another opportunity to prepare your son for adulthood. 💌 Join the Raising Boys with Purpose™ community: https://raising-boys-with-purpose-community-86461.grwebsite.com/ 👩‍👦 Join the Raising Boys with Purpose™ Facebook Group for moms: https://www.facebook.com/groups/raisingboyswithpurpose 📱 Follow Raising Boys with Purpose™ on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/raisingboyswithpurpose/ 👍 Follow Brooke Lynn on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/BrookeLynnParentingCoach ▶️ WATCH ON YOUTUBE https://www.youtube.com/@RaisingBoyswithPurpose 🎧 Follow or subscribe to Raising Boys with Purpose™ so you don’t miss upcoming conversations about parenting teens, faith, life skills, independence, and preparing our sons for adulthood. 56 | Mom’s Routine Reset: Make Time for Yourself This Fall

Fall has a way of making us want a fresh start. The slower pace of summer gives way to new schedules, new routines, and a chance to get life back into a rhythm. But while we’re getting everyone else ready for the season ahead, what about us? As our sons get older and become more independent, the routines we've built around caring for them begin to change. Sometimes that means little pockets of time start opening up—and we get to decide what to do with them. In this Mom’s Perspective episode of Raising Boys with Purpose™, we're talking about using the fresh start of fall to reset our own routines too. Not by creating another list of things we should be doing, but by intentionally making room for rest, things we enjoy, time with God, and the rhythms that help us feel more like us. Because maybe this season isn't just about getting back into a routine. Maybe it's an opportunity to create one you actually enjoy. 📖 Scripture: Mark 6:31 — “Come with me by yourselves to a quiet place and get some rest.” 🎧 Recommended Episode: 54 | Why Moms Need Self-Care Too | Raising Teen Boys This episode pairs perfectly with today's conversation and explores how Christian moms can make self-care part of everyday life—even when there doesn't seem to be any extra time. https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/54-why-christian-moms-need-self-care-too-raising-teen-boys/id1872119001?i=1000783082755 💌 Join the Raising Boys with Purpose™ community: https://raising-boys-with-purpose-community-86461.grwebsite.com/ 👩‍👦 Join our Raising Boys with Purpose™ Facebook community for moms: https://www.facebook.com/groups/raisingboyswithpurpose 👍 Follow Brooke Lynn – Parenting Coach on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/BrookeLynnParentingCoach 📸 Follow Raising Boys with Purpose™ on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/raisingboyswithpurpose/ ▶️ Watch Raising Boys with Purpose™ on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@RaisingBoyswithPurpose   About Podcast:  Raising Boys with Purpose™ is a Christian parenting podcast for moms raising teen boys and young men. 55 | Help Your Teen Son Know His Self-Worth | Christian Parenting

How do we help our sons know their value when so much of the world encourages them to measure themselves by their accomplishments? Grades, sports, popularity, money, and future success can easily become ways our teen boys decide whether they’re “good enough.” But self-worth is different from achievement. It’s knowing you have value even when you struggle, make a mistake, or fail. In this episode of Raising Boys with Purpose™, we’re talking about how we can help our sons recognize their self-worth and develop confidence in who they are—not just in what they can do. We’ll look at how our responses to both success and failure can shape how they see themselves, why it matters to notice character and persistence alongside accomplishments, and how we can point our sons toward a deeper source of their identity and worth. Because ultimately, their value isn’t determined by a grade, an award, a paycheck, or someone else’s opinion. Their worth is rooted in who God created them to be. As Christian moms raising teen boys, we have an opportunity to help our sons carry that truth with them as they grow into adulthood. 📖 SCRIPTURE Luke 12:6–7 🎧 RECOMMENDED EPISODE Ep. 52: Life Skills Every Teen Boy Needs for Adulthood | Building Confidence Through Challenge https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/52-life-skills-every-teen-boy-needs-for-adulthood-building/id1872119001?i=1000780194540 — Why allowing our sons to face challenges, work through frustration, and sometimes fail can help them develop confidence, resilience, and independence. 🔗 CONNECT WITH RAISING BOYS WITH PURPOSE™ 💌 Join the Raising Boys with Purpose™ community: https://raising-boys-with-purpose-community-86461.grwebsite.com/ 👩‍👦 Join the Raising Boys with Purpose™ Facebook Group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/raisingboyswithpurpose 📱 Follow Raising Boys with Purpose™ on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/raisingboyswithpurpose/ 👍 Follow Brooke Lynn on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/BrookeLynnParentingCoach ▶️ WATCH ON YOUTUBE https://www.youtube.com/@RaisingBoyswithPurpose About Podcast:  Raising Boys with Purpose™ is a Christian parenting podcast for moms raising teen boys and young men.
