Why You're Still Stuck: Burnout, Boundaries & the Soft Life with Rashidat Odeyemi

Are you tired of being everything to everyone — and running on empty doing it? This episode is for you. Janet Taylor, your Life Organizer, sits down with Rashidat Odeyemi, lifestyle coach and dream strategist, who helps high-achieving women create success without the hustle culture lifestyle. After burning out trying to be a good daughter, friend, and business owner all at once, Rashidat figured out how to build the soft life she now lives — one rooted in rest, ease, and joy. In this conversation you will learn: -Why so many women stay stuck even when they are doing all the things — and what is really getting in the way. -The three questions Rashidat asks every client to help them get unstuck and moving forward again. -The difference between being busy and actually making progress — and why treading water feels like movement but gets you nowhere. -How to put yourself on the list — not just at the top of everyone else's. -Why systemizing your life and rest is just as important as systemizing your work. -The Freedom Fridays check-in Rashidat uses with her community to make rest and self-care non-negotiable. Taylor's Tip Time: Janet shares five things every woman needs to toss right now — starting with the uncomfortable bras, holey socks, and worn-out nightgowns that are not serving you. Your body deserves better. TossItTuesday: Time to let go of those old nightgowns. Yes, the ones you have been wearing for decades. You deserve to feel good even while you sleep. Resource Roundup: Janet recommends a simple file box to eliminate visual clutter and keep important documents organized wherever you are. Book suggestion: Done: A Guide to Prioritize, Plan, and Perform to Accomplish Your Goals by Dr. Renee Galloway. Quote of the week: "You don't have to earn rest. Rest is your right." — Rashidat Odeyemi Clear the Clutter. Claim Your Power. It starts with putting yourself on the list. 2. Clear Desk, Clear Mind: How to Conquer Clutter in Your Home Office

Clear Desk, Clear Mind: How to Conquer Clutter in Your Home Office

Is your home office working for you — or against you? In this solo episode, Janet Taylor, your Life Organizer, walks you through seven practical steps to take back control of your workspace, clear the clutter, and create an office environment that actually supports howyou work and live. Whether you work from home full-time, manage household paperwork, or just need a space that helps you think clearly — this episode is for you. In this episode Janet covers: Step 1: Create a retention schedule — talk to your tax professional, attorney, or financial advisor to know exactly what you need to keep and what you can finally let go. Step 2: Start with the outer areas — the corners, floor space, bookshelves, and ledges you haven't touched in months. Step 3: Clear off your desk — everything comes off, then only the daily essentials go back. Step 4: Clear the bookcase — are those books and periodicals still relevant to your life today? Step 5: Purge the filing cabinet — it should be functional, not a paper graveyard. Step 6: Find a shredding event or schedule time to shred — protect your personal information and free up space. Step 7: Repeat seasonally or quarterly — maintenance is so much easier than starting from scratch. Janet also shares this week's Organizing with Janet story — a virtual client session that started with three-and-a-half inch floppy disks and outdated binders, and ended with a fully functional, efficient workspace. Taylor's Tip Time: Set a 15-minute timer and tackle just one area of your home office this week. That is all it takes to get started. TossItTuesday: Janet is letting go of greeting cards she no longer feels attached to — some going back more than 30 years. Quote of the week: "A clear desk is not just about organization. It is a declaration that you are in control of your space, your time, and your focus."   Clear the Clutter. Claim Your Power. Clear the Clutter, Create the Life with Karen Taylor Bass

When we hear the word clutter, we think about closets and countertops. But what about the clutter in our schedules, our thoughts, our commitments, and the expectations we place on ourselves? This episode goes deeper.  Janet Taylor, your Life Organizer, welcomes back Karen Taylor Bass — returning guest, award-winning media strategist, bestselling author, certified advanced yoga instructor, and daily host of Soulful Sunrise on WURD Radio 900 AM. Karen's message is simple and powerful: you are the list. Everything else is two, three, four, five.  In this conversation you will learn: What clutter really looks like in the body, the mind, and our relationships — and why stillness is the first step to clearing it.  Why you do not need to work your way up to the top of the list. You belong there now.  The five-minute morning practice Karen uses before she ever touches her phone — and why it changes everything.  How to fast from social media and the noise that keeps you stuck living someone else's life.  The journaling practice Karen uses to flood her thoughts onto the page, leave them alone, and return with fresh eyes.  Why moving your body — even just walking to the mailbox — is non-negotiable for clearing mental and emotional clutter.  How to give yourself grace, get still, and ask the one question that will show you exactly what you need.  Organizing with Janet: A client had her passwords scattered across multiple sheets of paper — overlapping, outdated, and causing stress every time she needed to log in. One session created one clear system. That simple act of clarity gave her confidence not just in her accounts but in her entire home and life.  Taylor's Tip Time: Stop looking at all the piles. Just do one thing — one drawer, one countertop, fold and put the clothes away. Small actions create momentum and momentum reduces overwhelm.  TossItTuesday: Janet cleared out expired spices from the kitchen cabinet. When did you last check yours? If they are not adding flavor to your meals, they are not adding anything to your life.  Quote of the week: "Clarity creates confidence." Clear the Clutter. Claim Your Power. Preserving Memories Without the Overwhelm with Rachel Arbuckle of 2,000 Paces

Photos carry more than images — they carry our stories, our history, and our hearts. But for many people, the idea of organizing photos feels completely paralyzing. This week, returning guest Rachel Arbuckle of 2,000 Paces Photo Organizing joins Janet M. Taylor to talk about how to preserve your most precious memories without getting overwhelmed. Rachel and her team help families, organizations, and businesses across the country organize print and digital photos, restore damaged images, and create photo books and slideshows. She was recently named Best Mobile Business of the Year by the Carlsbad Chamber of Commerce. In this episode, Rachel shares why the overwhelm around photos is rarely just about the volume — it's about the emotions tied to those memories. She walks us through the most common mistakes people make when organizing on their own, how to handle guilt around letting go of photos, and why even blurry photos sometimes deserve a second look. You'll also hear practical advice on where to start, how to set realistic goals, why your print photos may be the most vulnerable items in your home right now, and how working with a professional photo organizer can help you make progress you couldn't make on your own. Whether you have shoeboxes of prints from the 1920s or thousands of images scattered across your phone, old computers, and cloud accounts, this episode gives you a clear, compassionate approach to getting started.
