The Lost Art of Feeding a Family | Kate Pope

I’m so excited to share another episode of Unprocessed with you. Today’s conversation is with Kate Pope, founder of Regenerative Cooking School, holistic chef, mother, former dancer and private chef, and certified GAPS practitioner who teaches mothers about supporting their children’s health through food. Kate grew up eating the standard American diet before finding her way back to a more traditional way of feeding a family: the meats, stocks, organ meats, and nutrient-dense foods that our not-too-distant ancestors revered. Her work is rooted in the belief that the way we feed our families matters deeply, and that some of the wisdom we’ve lost along the way is worth rediscovering. What drew me to Kate is her raw, unapologetic edge. We first connected on Instagram years ago, and her work has resonated with me ever since. In this conversation, we explore what our children’s symptoms might be telling us, what happens when the whole family makes changes together, and the power of returning to the ways our ancestors nourished their children. We get into the role food plays in our children’s well-being, why feeding a family goes beyond simply putting meals on the table, and how the choices we make in our kitchens can shape the environment our children grow up in. Kate shares her perspective on bringing traditional foods back into everyday life, from nourishing stocks and organ meats to building the habits that make this way of eating sustainable for the whole family. We also talk about what it means to bring a household into greater equilibrium: how our food, routines, and home environment work together, and why these practices are about more than what ends up on our children’s plates. There’s something powerful about the idea that the knowledge we reclaim today can become something we pass down to the next generation. This is a conversation about ancestral nutrition, motherhood, and remembering how to feed our families in a way that feels connected to where we came from. It’s an invitation to look more closely at the food we bring into our homes, the signals our children are giving us, and the traditions we want to carry forward. 👥 Join the What Feeds Us community on Substack for recipes, reflections, and real conversation. 👉 https://chefarangoldstein.substack.com/ 📱 Follow along on Instagram for more of the day to day. 👉 @chefarangoldstein CONNECT WITH UNPROCESSED 🎧 Listen to Unprocessed on Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/033MLwZigrxBAGdFE6ldB8?si=f7edad1d3f4e4b61 🍎 Listen to Unprocessed on Apple Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/unprocessed/id6792954423 ▶️ Watch and subscribe on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@chefarangoldstein #UnprocessedPodcast #KatePope #RegenerativeCookingSchool #AncestralNutrition #TraditionalFoods #FamilyNutrition #HolisticHealth This is a public episode. Become the Man Your Family Needs | Greg Denning

I’m so excited to share another episode of Unprocessed with you. Today’s conversation is with Greg Denning, author of The Formidable Family Man, father of seven, and someone who has spent decades intentionally building the kind of family life he wished he had growing up. Greg moved out on his own at 16, and during some of his loneliest years, he made a decision: if he ever had a family of his own, he was going to be an incredible dad. What followed was a commitment to working on himself, confronting his own insecurities and temper, and becoming the kind of man he wanted his children to have as an example. In this conversation, we get into why becoming a great father starts with working on yourself, how emotional strength and resilience are built through the challenges we face, and why our kids learn so much more from what we do than what we tell them. Greg shares how he and his wife have built a life around travel, fitness, adventure, faith, and raising seven capable, curious kids who are encouraged to discover their own paths. We talk about traveling the world as a family, making movement and doing hard things part of everyday life, and finding ways to encourage our kids without forcing them to be someone they’re not. Greg shares why he believes struggle is an essential part of growth, how the habits and patterns we develop shape the people we become, and why the work we do on ourselves can have an impact that reaches far beyond us. One of my favorite moments is when Greg describes the kind of life he wants to build, saying: “I don’t wanna be a businessman with a family. I wanna be a family man with a business.” There’s something powerful about that distinction. What would change if we built our lives around the things that matter most, rather than trying to fit them into whatever time and energy we have left? This is a conversation about fatherhood, personal responsibility, and creating a life that reflects your values. More than anything, it’s a reminder that building the family and life you want starts with becoming the person who can help create them. 👥 Join the What Feeds Us community on Substack for recipes, reflections, and real conversation. 👉 https://chefarangoldstein.substack.com/ 📱 Follow along on Instagram for more of the day to day. 👉 @chefarangoldstein #UnprocessedPodcast #GregDenning #TheFormidableFamilyMan #Fatherhood #PersonalGrowth #FamilyLife #EmotionalResilience This is a public episode. Why Therapy Isn’t Changing the Pattern | Heather Elliott

I’m so excited to share another episode of Unprocessed with you. Today’s conversation is with Heather Elliott, founder of Mindful Change and creator of 5D Psychology. Heather trained in traditional psychology and spent years as a teacher before stepping away to follow a different path, one that looks beneath the surface of our thoughts and emotions to understand the beliefs that are actually shaping our lives. I had a session with Heather before we recorded this conversation, and it stayed with me. There’s something about the way she works that gets underneath the story you think you’re dealing with and starts asking a much deeper question: what is the belief underneath it? In this conversation, we go deep into the conditioning we pick up from our parents, our families, school, and society, and how those voices can quietly become the stories we carry around with us. Heather explains how emotions can be the surface of something much deeper, and why changing the underlying belief can change the pattern itself. We talk about why people can spend years trying to understand themselves and still find themselves repeating the same patterns, the difference between knowing your story and actually changing it, and the strategies we develop to protect beliefs about ourselves that may no longer serve us. There are some pretty big questions in this one. What if the things limiting us aren’t actually who we are? What if so much of what we believe about ourselves was learned before we were old enough to question it? Heather is a badass, deeply thoughtful, and just so cool. I loved this conversation, and I think there’s a lot in here to sit with. 👥 Join the What Feeds Us community on Substack for recipes, reflections, and real conversation. 👉 https://chefarangoldstein.substack.com/ 📱 Follow along on Instagram for more of the day to day. 👉 @chefarangoldstein #UnprocessedPodcast #HeatherElliott #5DPsychology #Psychology #SelfAwareness #PersonalGrowth This is a public episode.
