New Creation? || Ephesians: Promised week 4 with Joren Berry

What makes the church? Is it a building, programs, activities, music, or something else? This Sunday was International Day of Prayer for the Persecuted Church and it aligned so well with the passage of scripture for the week. This message is a little longer as it includes a presentation from Open Doors ministry. In Ephesians 2: 11-22 we see that Jesus’ grace has brought a new creation: the church. Not defined as a building but as a people. Regardless of background, ethnicity, status, skill, or knowledge all are welcome and invited into Jesus' church, the foundation of this church/group is Jesus’ undeserved and redeeming grace. The church is Gods redeemed people - which emphasizes the importance of the church standing together - locally and globally - as witnesses of who God is and what he desires true community to look like. 7:00 The message begins Join us in the coming weeks as we journey through the first three chapters of Ephesians we’re calling “Promised” —unpacking the promise Jesus has given His Church and discovering why that matters for our identity. God's Incomparably Great Power || Ephesians: Promised week 2 with Laura Berry

Welcome to week 2 of Ephesians, we're looking at God's promises in the first half of Ephesians. This week Laura is preaching on Ephesians 1:15-23 "For this reason, ever since I heard about your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for all God’s people, I have not stopped giving thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers. I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better." This prayer unpacks the importance of understanding the power and authority of Jesus. For the church in Ephesus there were many other spiritual practices and other “gods” being worshipped around them, but Paul called all believers, including us, to understand that Jesus is greater, far above all rule, authority, power and dominion. Laura unpacks what that could look like and asks each of us to consider are we living out of God's wisdom and revelation. What is the purpose of the Church? || Ephesians: Promised week 1 with Joren Berry

This week we kick off week 1 in the first half of Ephesians, looking at God's promises and what the purpose of the church is? What we believe about the church will determine how we as a church act, what we prioritize, and where we go. Which raises a challenging question: Who is the Church? Joren challenges us that the power of the church is found in unified identity. He shares three words that really matter in our identity as God's church. Join us in the coming weeks as we journey through the first three chapters of Ephesians we’re calling “Promised” unpacking the promise Jesus has given His Church and discovering why that matters for our identity. _____ 🔹 Access Ephesians study notes on the teachings page of our website: https://www.goodlife.org.au/ephesians-series 🔹 Join us on the YouVersion Bible App  🔹 Make Goodlife Community Church your home church in the app and join in our featured reading plans. What are you desperate for? || The Way of the King week 5 with Laura Berry

This week Laura is unpacking stories from Matthew 9: 18-38 the interlinked stories of Jairus seeking healing for his daughter and the bleeding women who was healed by touching Jesus' cloak. Laura reflects on the desperation that motivated them. Generally when we talk about desperation it is not a good thing, often desperation is associated with anxiety or addiction, when you so desperately want or need something. There is one thing we can be desperate for that is positive and won’t lead to anxiety. JESUS. Jesus is a God who meets his people in their desperate need. For reasons we don't always understand, he may not immediately fix our situations, but he is always with us in the waiting. ------ 🔹 Watch sermons + access notes on the teachings page of our website: https://www.goodlife.org.au/teachings 🔹 Join us on the YouVersion Bible App 🔹 Make Goodlife Community Church your home church in the app and join in our featured reading plans.
