Whether it is processed carbohydrates, sweets, or other comfort foods, we have to replace the pleasure they once provided with something that better aligns with our long-term goals. Understanding your "why" is essential to creating lasting change. For me, that means improving insulin resistance, lowering inflammation, and helping people regain metabolic flexibility so their bodies can efficiently use stored fat for energy. In this episode, I discuss how dopamine influences cravings, why insulin resistance makes weight loss so difficult for many people, and why constantly eating and snacking can keep us trapped in a cycle of elevated glucose and insulin.     Jami Dulaney MD Wellness Podcast: Sugar, Fiber and Fat : Which is it?

    Welcome! and Thank you for listening.   I have been to Alaska fishing! I am back with fresh salmon and halibut.  I am also back to training for my ultras and promoting a low carbohydrate high fat approach for improving metabolic health?  How could I have been so wrong?  Is a plant based diet good for anyone? Is it carbohydrates or sugar.  Is being lean the same thing as being metabolically healthy?   I have come to believe it is not.  I would like to share a few success stories on how a low carb, high fat diet has helped with glucose control, gastrointestinal symptoms, and triglycerides.  It seems crazy that eating a high fat diet would help those things but listen for yourself.   Smart people have been arguing for years.  People talk a good and convincing game.  However, there is a lot of faith and bias involved in nutrition recommendations.   Take a listen.  It is not always as it seems.  Keep an open mind and do your own digging.   Thanks for listening and Happy Birthday America!  Go USA!
