Mr. El Akkad, should blame Hamas for building its military around civilian infrastructure, using civilians as human shields. The Hamas Gaza medical ministry does not differentiate Hamas fighters from civilians. Hamas uses civilian deaths as propaganda against Israel.
Why haven’t Arab governments taken in the Palestinian Arabs like Israel took in 800,000 Jews kicked out of Arab countries during Israel’s war for independence? Every Arab country where the PLO went, they caused trouble and were kicked out by the Arab government.
It’s an existential war between Israel, a western democracy, and Hamas backed by Iran, a terrorist organization and a state sponsor of terrorism. One side or the other must surrender unconditionally for it to end. A ceasefire means another war for the next generation in about 20yrs.

War is legalized/state sanctioned murder, there’s nothing that can make it pretty. The quicker the war is completed - with the unconditional surrender of one side or the other, the faster the suffering stops.
