Mike is a sublime host and always has intelligent and entertaining guests on the show. You can count on engaging and fun discussions of the horror films and his thematic focus has been a great way to analyze and appreciate horror films through the decades. This is a top-tier show!

This is an indispensable podcast for any horror fan (or horror-curious) podcast listener. The host is engaging, deeply versed in the genre, and treats any given movie with both the respect and/or humour it may merit. It feels like sitting down for a beer with a good friend who you kinda think should’ve gotten a PhD in horror film—not to mention the wonderful guests he brings on. The podcast uses a broad definition of “horror”, so it covers everything from Alfred Hitchcock to zombies. You’ll be sure to learn something new and find new movies to add to your watch list. Trigger warning for anyone who has been subjected to the pseudoscience of psychoanalysis rather than being given evidence-based mental health treatment: they occasionally bring on a psychoanalyst at the end of some shows to “analyse” media. The host always makes a good clear segue so you can end the episode there.

This podcast is an absolute gem! The hosts bring insightful discussions about the history of horror in a very informed and thought provoking way. I very recently discovered EOH when looking for in depth discussions about Longlegs but once I listen to a few episodes I knew I needed to go back to the beginning to listen from the start. It’s been great fun rewatching these films (in some cases watching for the first time) and following along as the history of the genre unfolds.
