With everything going on with Bethenny Frankel’s lawsuit regarding the injustices of Reality TV, real vs fake, contracts and much more, we figured it was a great time to share this chat with one of the originals, Jason Wahler from Laguna Beach, The Hills and The Hills: New Beginnings. Of course, Jason takes us back to the beginning when he was just a high school student whose friends - Lauren Conrad, Kristin Cavallari, Stephen Colletti, and Lo Bosworth - were cast on a TV show about their high school, otherwise known as Laguna Beach High. We discuss how Jason got involved in the show, how that show, Laguna Beach, spun off into The Hills and how, overnight, he could no longer go to the gas station or mall or mailbox without being recognized. With fame, the issues he was already struggling with became exacerbated, and he quickly spiraled out of control. There were public arrests and intoxication which eventually lead to rock bottom. Jason shares what that was like and how he eventually sought the help he needed through Dr Drew and other available resources to eventually make this his “life’s work”.
