    A Creepy Grimm's Fairytale: Cat Skin

    Join me for tonight's really creepy and weird fairy tale. It's weird and very creepy and just consider this your warning! We follow one girl, a princess, who desperately tries to escape her father's attempts to MARRY HER. Not marry her off, but MARRY HER. She asks for a cloak of hundreds of animal furs, dresses, and then runs away to a forest. A neighboring (we hope) king finds her on a hunt and brings her to work in his kitchen, where she is called "Cat Skin" after her cloak. It's weird. There is a ball (well, three!) cooking, toast, soup, etc. This tale, the Brothers Grimms' "Cat-Skin," is read in a soft voice and set to some light and soft background music.     A Strange Old Fairytale: Prince Fickle and Fair Helena

    Some fairytales are frustrating. This is one such tale. We start off with an evil stepmother who sets impossible tasks for the beautiful Helena. She ends up meeting a swift end, and Helena becomes a renown beauty, who falls for the wrong man. She then upends her life to try to find him, living as a poor herder, only to find he's moved on to a new King's daughter! Helena still won't give up her pursuit and claim to his heart, and so tries to sweep him off his feet yet again... this time at his own wedding feast.  This story, "Prince Fickle and Fair Helena" is from Andrew Lang's "The Green Fairy Book," which is now in public domain.
