Braless Watch examines feminism in TV shows from the 1950s to present day. We, the hosts, Beth and Lily, are a mother and daughter team. We have different perspectives because of our ages and life experiences which creates a fun discussion! For Munchie episodes, we discuss our initial reactions to that TV show's episode.     Are You Being Served? - Cold Store -- Munchie

    Are you free?? This Munchie we are covering the British sitcom Are You Being Served?, focusing on episode 4 “Cold Store” from season 3! Beth explains why she chose this episode out of the many others. We discuss how this show was progressive for its time in the early 1970s, specifically with Mrs. Slocombe and Mr. Humphries, but how it doesn’t hold up, mostly because of the sexism and racism. Lastly, we chat about how obsolete Mr. Peacock’s job is as a floor walker who directs customers to either department though he acts all pompous. Tune into this amusing discussion about this British classic!!

    Disenchantment - Season 1 -- Coach Potato

    Welcome to Dreamland! This Couch Potato episode we are discussing season 1 of Disenchantment! We talk about how different this animated sitcom is from Matt Groening’s other works like Futurama and The Simpsons. We also chat about how animated TV shows like this can deal with and handle hard topics in a more palatable way that the audience can accept. Lastly, we chat about how the three main characters, particularly Bean, all learn to be friends with each other and begin to grow. Listen into our interesting analysis of this wacky show!     Heartstopper - Challenge -- Munchie

    Celebrate Pride with us! This week we are covering Heartstopper, specifically season 2 episode 4 titled “Challenge” for this Munchie! We discuss why Lily chose this episode and whether it was a good starting point for Beth who knew nothing about it! We chat about how cutesy and sweet the vibe is of the show and how it is different from what we normally would watch in our own time. We also chat about how the friend group is fully accepting of everyone which allows for all of the characters, especially those who are LGBTQ+, to shine and blossom into who they want to be.     Let’s head to school! This Munchie episode we are discussing season 2, episode 1 “Development Day” of Abbott Elementary! We chat about how the public school system is really like how it is portrayed in this sitcom and how teachers deserve more. We also talk about each teacher and how each one is unique in their own way. Lastly, we discuss how well thought out the writing, set and costume choices are!     Margo's Got Money Troubles - The Hungry Ghost -- Munchie

    Another Nick Offerman show… Oops! This Munchie episode we are covering Margo’s Got Money Troubles, focusing on Episode 1 of Season 1 “The Hungry Ghost”! We discuss how and why we chose to watch this new Apple TV show. Beth also discloses her displeasure in this show and we chat about how the themes and topics have been done before. We try to give it some reprieve as we only watched one episode and the trailer. Give this interesting discussion a listen to see if you agree!

    Off to Pawnee, Indiana! For this Couch Potato, we are covering Parks and Recreation, season 1! We discuss the first season weirdness that mostly comes from it trying to be too much like The Office. We talk about Leslie being over zealous and that coming back to bite her as well as her need for her mother’s approval. We also chat about Andy’s character and how he is completely awful to Ann.     Maude - Maude's Dilemma -- Munchie

    Time to talk about some TV history! This Munchie episode we are talking about season 1, episodes 9 and 10 of Maude, called “Maude’s Dilemma”. This sitcom two-parter is the first TV show to discuss abortion and it did so back in 1972 before Roe v. Wade became federal law (which has since been overturned). We chat about the many positions and opinions that are presented in these episodes. We also talk about how it is still a product of its time, especially with Bea Arthur’s character Maude’s mindset. Join us as we talk about this Norman Lear sitcom!

    Sanctuary - Hangover -- Munchie

    For our first Munchie episode, Braless Watch is covering a fun Sci-Fi TV show called Sanctuary, specifically Season 3’s Episode 12 called “Hangover”! We chat about why Lily chose this show and this particular episode for our first. Beth talks about her initial reaction since she hadn’t seen the show before now. Lastly, We discuss how this episode’s retracing steps of the team storyline is used in other Sci-Fi TV shows. Tune in our amusing discussion of this easy watching show!
