    Never Have I Ever - ...felt super Indian -- Munchie

    This time we are discussing season 1, episode 4 “...felt super Indian” of Never Have I Ever! Beth describes why she chose this episode out of the whole series. Lily provides her opinions only watching this episode. We chat about the macro- and microaggressions that filled this episode that Devi and her family had to deal with. We also talk about the wild choice to have an older white guy be the voiceover that is supposed to be Devi’s inner voice, even if it makes sense to the story.     Are You Being Served? - Cold Store -- Munchie

    Are you free?? This Munchie we are covering the British sitcom Are You Being Served?, focusing on episode 4 “Cold Store” from season 3! Beth explains why she chose this episode out of the many others. We discuss how this show was progressive for its time in the early 1970s, specifically with Mrs. Slocombe and Mr. Humphries, but how it doesn’t hold up, mostly because of the sexism and racism. Lastly, we chat about how obsolete Mr. Peacock’s job is as a floor walker who directs customers to either department though he acts all pompous.     Maude - Maude's Dilemma -- Munchie

    Time to talk about some TV history! This Munchie episode we are talking about season 1, episodes 9 and 10 of Maude, called “Maude’s Dilemma”. This sitcom two-parter is the first TV show to discuss abortion and it did so back in 1972 before Roe v. Wade became federal law (which has since been overturned). We chat about the many positions and opinions that are presented in these episodes. We also talk about how it is still a product of its time, especially with Bea Arthur’s character Maude’s mindset.
