Braless Watch examines feminism in TV shows from the 1950s to present day. We, the hosts, Beth and Lily, are a mother and daughter team. We have different perspectives because of our ages and life experiences which creates a fun discussion! For Munchie episodes, we discuss our initial reactions to that TV show's episode.     Are You Being Served? - Cold Store -- Munchie

    Are you free?? This Munchie we are covering the British sitcom Are You Being Served?, focusing on episode 4 “Cold Store” from season 3! Beth explains why she chose this episode out of the many others. We discuss how this show was progressive for its time in the early 1970s, specifically with Mrs. Slocombe and Mr. Humphries, but how it doesn’t hold up, mostly because of the sexism and racism. Lastly, we chat about how obsolete Mr. Peacock’s job is as a floor walker who directs customers to either department though he acts all pompous. We chat about how cutesy and sweet the vibe is of the show and how it is different from what we normally would watch in our own time.     Time to talk about some TV history! This Munchie episode we are talking about season 1, episodes 9 and 10 of Maude, called “Maude’s Dilemma”. This sitcom two-parter is the first TV show to discuss abortion and it did so back in 1972 before Roe v. Wade became federal law (which has since been overturned). We chat about the many positions and opinions that are presented in these episodes. We also talk about how it is still a product of its time, especially with Bea Arthur’s character Maude’s mindset.
