Family Matters: TV Icons Telma Hopkins & Kellie Williams (Aunt Rachel & Laura Winslow) Are Up+Adam

For years, Friday night meant TGIF, pizza on the table, and the Winslows in the living room. On this episode of Up+Adam, Adam Montiel sits down with Telma Hopkins, who played Aunt Rachel Crawford, and Kellie Shanygne Williams, who played Laura Winslow, on the iconic sitcom Family Matters. Together, they revisit the legacy of a show that became more than television. It became part of America’s family ritual. Now reunited for their iHeartPodcast, Welcome to the Family, Telma and Kellie are rewatching every episode in order and inviting listeners behind the curtain. In this conversation, they reflect on the 35-year legacy of Family Matters, the lightning-in-a-bottle magic of Steve Urkel, what it was like being part of TGIF at its cultural peak, and the very real awkwardness of growing up under studio lights. Telma shares how her grandmother once told her no one would ever pay her to “act silly” and the full-circle moment when that prediction flipped. Kellie opens up about navigating adolescence on national television and the joy of seeing generations still connect to the same loving feeling the writers intended. This is nostalgia with depth. It is about representation, humor, growing up in public, and the kind of cast chemistry that still feels like family decades later. Forty comics. Nearly twenty shows. Four days of straight-up laughter on the Central Coast. The SLO Comedy Festival is back and it is taking over SLO Cal in a big way. On this episode of Up+Adam, Adam sits down with festival creator Eric Shantz along with comics Kris Rubio and Mark Fry to talk about how this thing went from a bold idea to a full-scale comedy movement. We get into what it really takes to wrangle 40 stand-up comedians, how you build a comedy community in a wine country town, and why live stand-up still hits different in a world that lives online. If you love comedy, live events, or just need a reason to get out and laugh with other humans, this one is for you. Whether you are a longtime fan of the festival or hearing about it for the first time, this conversation gives you the inside look at the hustle, heart, and humor behind one of the Central Coast’s most entertaining four-day takeovers. • Official Website: https://www.slocomedyfest.com • Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/slofest ******** Listen to Up+Adam with Adam Montiel:Official Website: adammontiel.comApple Podcasts: Up+Adam on Apple PodcastsSpotify: Up+Adam on SpotifyiHeartRadio: Up+Adam on iHeartRadioYouTube Music: Up+Adam on YouTube Music******** CHECK OUT OUR WOODS HUMANE PET OF THE WEEK! ******** ADAM’S TEDX VIDEO IS HERE! ******** FOLLOW ADAM ON INSTAGRAM ********* Sincere Thanks to the current supporters of Up + Adam. On this episode of Up+Adam, Adam sits down with Cal Poly Experience Industry Management (EIM) students Rylee Rust, Collette Madden, and Delaney Grau to talk about “Wine You Want to Listen To” happening Sunday, March 8 from 2 pm to 4 pm at Timbre Winery’s winemaking facility inside The Lobro Studios in San Luis Obispo. Lights, Camera, Auction! Laura & Dan Dotson from A&E’s Storage Wars Are Up+Adam

Dan and Laura Dotson have been calling the shots on Storage Wars since day one, but this conversation goes far beyond what you see on television. On this episode of Up+Adam, Adam connects with the fast-talking, faith-led duo behind American Auctioneers for a conversation about grit, integrity, California roots, and what really happens when the locker door rolls up. From Laura’s Thousand Oaks upbringing and that wild Agoura Hills connection, to the now-legendary $500 storage unit that reportedly contained $7.5 million in cash, Dan and Laura pull back the curtain on risk, ethics, and the human side of the auction world. They talk about why auctioneers cannot buy units themselves, how Storage Wars changed the industry, why most newcomers are not built for the dust and sweat, and the quiet work they do helping reunite families with personal items after a loss. This is about more than bidding. It is about belief, rhythm, and reading a room. Storage Wars returns February 28 with back-to-back one-hour episodes on A&E. If you have ever wondered what it really takes to command a crowd and move money with integrity, this episode is your front-row seat. • Watch Storage Wars on A&E https://www.aetv.com/shows/storage-wars • Dan and Laura Dotson official site https://www.americanauctioneers.com/ • Storage auctions nationwide https://www.storageauctions.net/ • Follow Dan and Laura on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/DanAndLauraDotson/ ******** Listen to Up+Adam with Adam Montiel:Official Website: adammontiel.comApple Podcasts: Up+Adam on Apple PodcastsSpotify: Up+Adam on SpotifyiHeartRadio: Up+Adam on iHeartRadioYouTube Music: Up+Adam on YouTube Music******** CHECK OUT OUR WOODS HUMANE PET OF THE WEEK! ******** ADAM’S TEDX VIDEO IS HERE! ******** FOLLOW ADAM ON INSTAGRAM ********* Sincere Thanks to the current supporters of Up + Adam. Sound Check at City Hall: The Libertine Movement to Keep Downtown SLO’s Music Alive

Downtown San Luis Obispo is having a moment. And right at the center of it is Libertine Brewing Company on the corner of Broad and Pacific. In this episode of Up+Adam, Adam sits down with John Pranjaic, Events Manager at Libertine, to unpack the noise complaint controversy that has made headlines in local media. But this is not just a recap. This is a deeper conversation about permits, enforcement, small business realities, and what kind of downtown SLO we actually want to build. Libertine has evolved into a 200 to 300 person live music venue that many see as filling the void left by the Garden Street era. In 2025 alone, the venue paid out more than $125,000 to local musicians and entertainers. It hosts weekly jazz jams, open mic comedy, line dancing, salsa nights, touring bands, and community fundraisers including Adam’s Breaking and Entering Christmas Jingle Jam. Now, after a year of complaints from a nearby resident and multiple reviews with the city, Libertine’s use permit is under administrative review. Public Hearing Details: • February 23 at 2:30 pm City Hall 990 Palm Street San Luis Obispo, CA Community members may attend and speak. Hard Work, Hard Questions: SLO Supervisor Candidate Jim Dantona Steps Into the LoBro Studios

What happens when the President and CEO of the San Luis Obispo Chamber of Commerce decides to step out from behind the advocacy desk and run for County Supervisor? In Part One of this two-part conversation, Adam sits down with Jim Dantona, candidate for San Luis Obispo County Board of Supervisors District 2, for a wide-ranging and surprisingly candid discussion about local leadership, energy policy, housing, homelessness, and what it actually means to serve the Central Coast. They dive into: • What it was like leading the SLO Chamber through COVID, inflation, and labor shortages • The Bruce Gibson endorsement and what that signals to voters • The reality of campaign fundraising and whether money creates pressure • Offshore wind and its impact on fishing and marine life • Battery storage after the Moss Landing fire and the Morro Bay debate • Keeping Diablo Canyon nuclear power plant open • The 'Homelessness is a housing issue' tale versus a mental health and addiction crisis • Affordable housing in SLO County and who it is really for • Balancing growth with preserving the coastline and open space • Why this race is nonpartisan and how the June 2026 primary works This is not a surface-level political interview. It is a thoughtful, go-a-mile-deep-but-fun conversation about responsibility, common sense, and the future of San Luis Obispo County. Part Two drops next week. Love Story on FX: Actor Noah Fearnley on Playing the Man Before JFK Jr. | Up+Adam

Noah Fearnley joins Adam for a layered, honest conversation about stepping into one of the most complicated roles in modern pop culture. In the new FX series Love Story, executive produced by Ryan Murphy, Noah portrays Michael Bergin, the model turned actor who dated Carolyn Bessette before her whirlwind romance with John F. Kennedy Jr. became American mythology. But this episode goes far beyond headlines. Noah opens up about the responsibility of portraying a real person with respect, what it meant to read Bergin’s memoir The Other Man, and how eerily parallel their Connecticut to New York modeling journeys really were. The conversation also dives into Noah’s grind in the micro drama world with more than 50 films shot in relentless 12 to 14 hour days, his transition into prestige television, and his theatrical debut in Mercy alongside Chris Pratt. Most powerfully, Noah speaks candidly about mental health, anxiety, imposter syndrome, and why he believes soul matters more than surface. This one moves from Hollywood to human fast, and it is exactly the kind of ICET conversation Up+Adam was built for. Watch Love Story beginning February 12 on FX and streaming on Hulu. What does it feel like when your life’s work is on the line?
