The Wild Sovereign Soul Show

Lian Brook-Tyler & Jonathan Wilkinson: Wild Sovereign Soul

It's challenging to live in this crazy modern world, The Wild Sovereign Soul Show is what we know will help. The show is a top 1.5% globally ranked podcast, that's been evolving since 2014, with over 500 episodes and counting - prepare to be inspired, guided, and activated by deep, soul-stirring explorations. Wild Sovereign Soul helps soul seekers find their way home in this crazy modern world, released from the cycles of overwhelm, loneliness, and endless self-improvement, to remember who they truly are, finally set free to live a life of deep meaning, embodied ease, and love. Our people are the divergent ones (neurodivergent or otherwise), in short, those who are unwilling or unable to conform to the status quo. You will know yourself to be a divergent one if you've thought things like: "This can't be all there is…" "There has to be another way…" "I can't be the only person who is seeing what I see…" Divergent ones are "the others" as Timothy Leary so evocatively described people like us. The heart of the show is simple… It's for those of us who feel something essential is being lost over time: the relationship with the body and land, inner authority and agency, and a sense of being guided from within rather than shaped by cultural conditioning, external pressure, and fear. And so these conversations, explorations, and transmissions are here to guide you to reclaim your wildness, actualise your sovereignty, and awaken your soul. Each month, our co-founders Lian and Jonathan sit down to speak into the themes of the modern world as they are actually living them, sharing what they're noticing in their own lives and work with clients and students, alongside questions from the team and listeners. Once a month, Lian hosts a live solo episode, The All The Everything Show, which flows more like a workshop or master class than a broadcast, going deep on a single theme through science, spirituality, and story, with space for real-time engagement and reflection. Alongside this, the show welcomes carefully chosen guests, including remarkable thinkers, wisdom keepers, visionaries, and healers, whose work aligns with the Wild Sovereign Soul path and brings additional perspective and depth. Since 2014, we have amassed a rich cornucopia of hundreds of episodes weaving ancient ways into modern days, drawing from animism and shamanism, embodiment, rewilding, mythopoetic and archetypal work, shadow work, astrology, non-dual spirituality, plant medicine, and more, always grounded in lived experience. Together, these conversations offer grounded insight, orientation and inspiration for being wild, sovereign, and soul-led in a culture that often pulls us away from what truly matters. Each episode is also an invitation to go deeper in UNIO, the living home of the Wild Sovereign Soul path, where this work is practised together in community. Listen now, and join your kin for the conversation your soul has been longing for. With our love and blessings, Lian & Jonathan

  1. The hidden secrets of men's desire and sexuality - Ian MacKenzie

The hidden secrets of men's desire and sexuality - Ian MacKenzie

Mythosomatic guide and filmmaker Ian MacKenzie names what men most long for sexually but rarely say aloud, why Eros is far larger than sex, and what a mature male erotic life truly looks and feels like. In this week’s show Lian is joined once again by Ian MacKenzie. Ian is a mythosomatic guide & filmmaker, as well as the founder of The Mythic Masculine, a platform dedicated to realigning masculinity with thriving life. For over 15 years, he has been tracking the global emergence of imaginal culture. From the desert of Burning Man to the heart of Occupy Wall St, he has sought and amplified the voices of visionaries, artists and activists who have been working toward planetary system change. He is the co-director of The Village of Lovers as well as Lost Nation Road, Amplify Her, and Sacred Economics. In this episode, Lian and Ian start with Eros itself, not as a synonym for sex but as the life force that moves through creativity, land, encounter, and expression of any kind, and what it means when a man's only access to that energy runs through a single narrow channel. They look at what the manosphere is really responding to beneath the bravado, and why so much of what looks like sexual compulsion is closer to nervous system dysregulation seeking an outlet. Ian also shares his own story, the marriage that eventually fell apart when they started exploring beyond it, the years in polyamory that followed, what he learned and what he got wrong, and where he's landed now. And then there's something he describes that happens in circle with men, when instead of the usual locker room storytelling they're asked to share a meaningful erotic experience, something that truly mattered to them, and what comes out of men when that door opens, the tenderness, the vulnerability, the stories that are nothing like what you'd expect, which, as Ian says, would probably surprise a lot of women. Listen if you're a man who's never quite had the conversation you actually wanted to have about this, or a woman who suspects there's far more going on beneath the surface than most men let on. We’d love to know what YOU think about this week’s show. Let’s carry on the conversation… please leave a comment wherever you are listening or in any of our other spaces to engage. What you’ll learn from this episode: Why so much of what looks like sexual compulsion in men is really nervous system dysregulation seeking an outlet What happens when men are given permission to share what their erotic lives have genuinely meant to them, not what they're supposed to say How the absence of the lover archetype turns a king into a tyrant, a warrior into a soldier, and a magician into a cold calculator Resources and stuff spoken about: Ian’s Website https://themythicmasculine.com/ Ian’s course The Deep Masculine https://www.themythicmasculine.com/deepmasculine Ian’s substack https://themythicmasculine.substack.com/ Ian’s upcoming men's conference https://www.themythicmasculine.com/cmc Register your interest for the upcoming Wild Sovereign Soul Pilgrimage here http://www.wildsovereignsoul.com/pilgrimage Join UNIO, The Community for Wild Sovereign Souls https://www.unioacademy.com/ : This is for the old souls in this new world… Discover your kin & unite with your soul’s calling to truly live your myth. The startling truth about individualism few want to hear - Lian Brook-Tyler and Jonathan Wilkinson

Lian Brook-Tyler and Jonathan Wilkinson, Wild Sovereign Soul co-founders, trace how the rise of individualism severed our connection to community and spirit, what Jung's individuation actually meant before it was reduced to self-improvement, and what these times are really calling us to. Lian and Jonathan sit down together for their monthly, free-flowing conversation honouring the path of the Wild Sovereign Soul. It's challenging to live in this crazy modern world, the Wild Sovereign Soul path is what we know will help. Each month, they meet live themes from the modern world head on, weaving together what they're currently consuming and creating, how wildness, sovereignty, and soul are showing up in their own lives, and the patterns they're seeing across our students and clients. There is room for curiosity, disagreement, and humour, alongside reflections drawn from their own experiences and initiations, as well as insights from ancient wisdom traditions, astrology, Gene Keys, shamanism, and more. In this episode, Lian and Jonathan explore how individualism became the water we swim in, tracing the distance between what Jung meant by individuation and what it has been flattened into, drawing on Kabbalah, shamanism, David Deida's three stages, and Dr. Jeffrey Martin's cross-tradition research into what union actually looks like when people get far enough along any genuine path. They look at how the self-development world inherited Jung's language while losing his meaning, and how that has left many people cycling through spiritual frameworks in the same way they once cycled through self-help. From there, the conversation opens into what might be reclaimed, what the shaman's role reveals about service and the whole, and what it means that the word "individual" once meant something that could not be divided from everything around it. Listen if you have poured time, energy and money into a spiritual or personal path and sometimes find yourself wondering whether you are actually moving somewhere, or mostly just getting better at thinking about yourself. We’d love to know what YOU think about this week’s show. Let’s carry on the conversation… please leave a comment wherever you are listening or in any of our other spaces to engage. What you’ll receive from this episode: What the true cost of individualism is, not just for the individual, but for our relationship to community, spirit, and the whole Why individuation, as Jung understood it, has almost nothing to do with becoming more your separate self, and how the gap between that and how it is now used has fuelled a culture of self-obsession How almost every mystical and religious tradition, however different their language, can converge on the same destination when followed far enough What the traditional shaman's role reveals about what goes missing the moment any path of soul becomes primarily about personal development Resources and stuff Lian spoke about: Register your interest for the upcoming Wild Sovereign Soul Pilgrimage here. How to honour the spiritual gifts the world forgot - Caitlín Matthews

Caitlín Matthews, author of over 80 books and shamanic teacher, explains why oracular gifts are survival-level human capacities, how divination works as a practice of truth-seeking, and what it means to receive and transmit a gift responsibly. Caitlín is an internationally renowned author, a teacher of shamanic training programme, a facilitator of Systemic Ritual® and the co-founder of the Foundation for Inspirational and Oracular Studies (FÍOS). She is the author of over 80 books, including Diary of a Soul Doctor, Singing the Soul Back Home, the Art of Celtic Seership, Celtic Devotional and The Celtic Book of the Dead. Her books have won a number of awards. She is known internationally for her work on the spiritual, mythic and ancestral traditions of Britain and Ireland. She teaches and works with communities and spiritual institutions worldwide from Iceland to Portugal and from USA to Australia. For her full bio see the show notes - https://www.wildsovereignsoul.com/podcast/544 In this episode, Lian and Caitlín trace the gifts that sit outside what culture currently names or honours, from the everyday instinct that tells you to take your umbrella to the full weight of the second sight. They move through the history of oracular practice across cultures, how divination has always lived at the heart of serious decision-making, and what it actually means to receive truth on behalf of another person, including what to pass on, what to withhold, and how the transmission itself can harm when handled without care. Lian brings her own experience, including a medium's evening where her father refused to speak through the medium because, as he apparently insisted, she could do it herself. The conversation then opens into the times we are in now, and what it asks of those who carry these gifts, as a practical, grounded orientation toward truth when the world is moving fast and the temptation toward reaction is everywhere. Listen if you carry gifts you've never fully claimed, or you're still negotiating with the weight of what you can see. We’d love to know what YOU think about this week’s show. Let’s carry on the conversation… please leave a comment wherever you are listening or in any of our other spaces to engage. What you’ll learn from this episode: Why the gifts we now treat as peripheral were once the practical centre of how communities survived and made decisions How to ask a question that the oracle can actually answer, and why the wrong question will give you the wrong result What happens when someone with real sight passes on only what serves, and keeps back what doesn't Resources and stuff that we spoke about: For Caitlín’s books & courses see: www.hallowquest.org.uk‍ ‍ For more of Caitlín’s writing on a range of topics, including a year-long course, Blessings of the Celtic Year, see her Hallowquest Sanctuary at https://substack.com/@caitlinmatthewstigerna Join UNIO, The Community for Wild Sovereign Souls: (https://www.unioacademy.com/) This is for the old souls in this new world… Discover your kin & unite with your soul’s calling to truly live your myth. The truth about why we stopped singing together - Barbara McAfee

Voice coach and author Barbara McAfee explains why so many people are afraid to sing, what group singing does to the nervous system and the sense of self, and why the loss of communal song may be one of the most significant things modern life has taken from us. Barbara is a voice coach, author, speaker, and performer, with over 30 years of experience helping people unlock their full voice through practical vocal techniques and tools for authentic, flexible self expression. In this episode, Lian and Barbara explore what actually happens when people sing together, why the fear of singing runs so deep in so many of us, and how recorded, pitch-corrected music has done to the human voice something similar to what airbrushed images have done to the human body. They look at the oral tradition as a living technology for transmitting knowledge, holding grief, and keeping communities in tune across generations, and at the way group singing can restore something that most people don't realise they've been missing until it returns. From there, the conversation moves into singing at the threshold of death, the Morning Star Singers' eighteen years of bedside work, and what Barbara has witnessed about the way song changes the experience of dying, for the person leaving and for everyone gathered around them. Listen if you've ever felt the pull to sing with others but the fear talked you of it before you even began. We’d love to know what YOU think about this week’s show. Let’s carry on the conversation… please leave a comment wherever you are listening or in any of our other spaces to engage. What you’ll learn from this episode: Why the fear of singing in a group runs so much deeper than shyness, and what actually put it there How group singing can move faster than team building, therapy, or any amount of talking when it comes to creating genuine connection What happens when singing is brought into hospitals and hospices, and why staff and patients alike respond as if they are remembering something Resources and stuff spoken about: Visit Barbara’s Website (https://www.barbaramcafee.com/) Join Barbara on: YouTube (https://www.youtube.com/mcafeemusic) Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/barbara.mcafee) Instagram (https://www.instagram.com/barbaramcafeesings/) LinkedIn (https://www.linkedin.com/in/barbaramcafee/) Watch Barbara’s TEDx talks: Bringing Your Full Voice to Life (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ze763kgrWGg) How Oral Tradition Singing Helps Us Work & Live Better Together (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lrRQulQnaoQ) Barbara’s audiobooks & Paperbacks - For links see Barbara's website(https://www.barbaramcafee.com/store.html) Bandcamp: A catalogue of Barbara’s original music (https://barbaramcafee.bandcamp.com/) Join UNIO, The Community for Wild Sovereign Souls: (https://www.unioacademy.com/) This is for the old souls in this new world… Discover your kin & unite with your soul’s calling to truly live your myth. Placebo: How to make your own soul medicine - Lian Brook-Tyler

Wild Sovereign Soul co-founder, Lian Brook-Tyler, explains what the placebo effect actually is, why the science is more radical than most people realise, and how to consciously build your own healing response using it. This episode is Lian’s All The Everything show… her solo space where she dives deeply into a theme that is alive for her, which, if you know her, could be literally anything - explored through the lenses of science, spirituality and story - hence the name of the show! It is created for those who feel called toward a soulful life shaped by meaning, depth, truth, and love… for those who feel unsatisfied with quick answers or surface level takes. This is a rich rabbit hole that Lian journeys through alongside you. She speaks from her own lived experience and unfolding process… while inviting you into your own as you listen. In this episode, Lian moves through the science, the evolutionary context, and the shamanic architecture that underlies the placebo effect, sharing the studies that show belief produces measurable changes in brain chemistry, exploring the nocebo effect and the cultural signals most of us have absorbed without realising, and explaining why open-label placebo research changes everything about what conscious intention can actually do. She also shares the open-label placebo she built for herself and walks through exactly how to build your own, through the lens of Wild, Sovereign, and Soul. Listen if you've ever sensed that what you believe about your body is shaping it, but had no idea how to use that deliberately. We’d love to know what YOU think about this week’s show. Let’s carry on the conversation… please leave a comment wherever you are listening or in any of our other spaces to engage. What you’ll learn from this episode: Why the body recovers just as well from fake surgery as from the real procedure, and what that reveals about the architecture of care How a specific gene variant may mean you are constitutionally built to respond to meaning-based healing at double the rate of others What open-label placebo trials found when patients were told outright that their pills contained nothing active Resources and stuff spoken about: Make sure you’re subscribed to our YouTube channel (https://www.youtube.com/@WildSovereignSoul), subscribed to our Moonly News email list (https://bemythical.com/moonly) and/or are a member of our Facebook group (https://www.facebook.com/groups/bemythicalcommunity) and we’ll let you know when the next one is happening. 6. Why genuine human marketing is the most powerful right now - Tad Hargrave

Why genuine human marketing is the most powerful right now - Tad Hargrave

Marketing consultant and ethical business educator Tad Hargrave returns to examine how the world's chaos, social media fatigue, and AI proliferation are changing what ethical marketing actually requires of small business owners right now. Tad is a hippy who developed a knack for marketing (and then learned how to be a hippy again). Since 2001, he's been weaving together strands of ethical marketing, Waldorf School education, a history in the performing arts, local culture work, anti-globalization activism, an interest in his ancestral, traditional cultures, community building and supporting local economies into this work of helping people create profitable businesses that are ethically grown while restoring the beauty of the marketplace. Tad did improv comedy semi-professionally for 25 years, co-ran Edmonton's progressive community building network TheLocalGood.ca, founded streetcarshows.com and the Jams program of yesworld.org. He speaks Scottish Gaelic and helped to launch and co-facilitate the Nova Scotia Gaels Jam. He is from Edmonton, Alberta (traditionally known, in the language of the Cree, as Amiskwaciy [Beaver Hill] and later Amiskwaciwaskihegan [Beaver Hill House]) and currently lives in Duncan, BC (Quw'utsun territory). In this episode, Lian and Tad explore the questions their clients and students keep bringing lately: how (and if) to market when the world feels like it's unravelling, when social media has lost its pull, and when the proliferation of AI is changing. They begin with the question many of us are pondering: is it even okay to be marketing when the world is on fire? They move through Joanna Macy's three types of transformative work, the way social media can function as a place to hide rather than a place to connect, and what it costs when we throw our thoughts into AI to articulate things we haven't yet wrestled into words ourselves. From there, the conversation opens into the growing appetite for something genuinely human, something written by an actual person, something that only happens in a room with other bodies present, and what that might mean for how we show up, market, and serve. Listen if you're feeling uncomfortable marketing your work while the world is doing what it's doing, struggling with your social media when it's not being seen, or the AI question has become one you can't keep putting off. We'd love to know what YOU think about this week's show. Let's carry on the conversation… please leave a comment wherever you are listening or in any of our other spaces to engage. What you'll learn from this episode: Why knowing which lane your work actually belongs in changes how you think about marketing during difficult times How AI can erode the very capacities that make our voices worth listening to in the first place What happens when we stop trying to beat the algorithm and commit instead to being unmistakably, specifically human Resources and stuff spoken about: Visit Tad's Website Tad's Ethical Marketing Starter Kit Find out more about Membership for Marketing for Hippies Join Tad on Instagram & YouTube See Tad's Upcoming Events Register your interest for the upcoming Wild Sovereign Soul journey here. 7. The lost masculine archetypes men desperately need now - Ian MacKenzie

    MAR 18

The lost masculine archetypes men desperately need now - Ian MacKenzie

Mythosomatic guide Ian MacKenzie explains why men get psychologically stuck at the hero archetype, what the older, pre-heroic masculine archetypes of the shaman and trickster actually offer, and why the absence of initiatory culture is shaping so much of what we see in men today. Ian MacKenzie is a mythosomatic guide, filmmaker, and founder of The Mythic Masculine, a platform dedicated to realigning masculinity with thriving life. In this episode, Lian and Ian explore the deep masculine as a layer of archetypal soil that predates the hero, one that men in the West have largely lost access to, and what that loss is costing us. Drawing on the work of Alan B. Chinen, Robert Bly, and Martin Shaw, they look at why the heroic stage of masculine development, though necessary, was never meant to be the final destination, and how an entire culture stuck there begins to look a lot like the one we're living in now. They move through the trickster's gift of holding complexity without collapsing it, and what erotic initiation actually means when it's held within a proper relational ecology. The conversation turns to what gets unleashed when men reach for sacred sexuality, the wilderness, or community without the initiatory frameworks to hold it, why good intentions aren't enough, and what the land itself has to teach about belonging, reciprocity, and the kind of love that doesn't dominate. Listen if you're a man who has reached a point where doing more, achieving more, or proving more has stopped feeling like it leads anywhere worth going. We'd love to know what YOU think about this week's show. Let's carry on the conversation… please leave a comment wherever you are listening or in any of our other spaces to engage. What you'll learn from this episode: Why the hero archetype is a necessary stage of development and what happens when a man, or a culture, never moves beyond it How the trickster holds the capacity to see complexity without forcing resolution, and why that quality is among the rarest and most needed things right now What happens when men reach for erotic energy, sacred community, or wilderness experience without the initiatory containers that make those things safe for everyone involved Resources and stuff spoken about: Ian's Website Ian's course The Deep Masculine Ian's substack Ian's upcoming men's conference Register your interest for the upcoming Wild Sovereign Soul journey here. The truth about "mystery illnesses" and soul awakening - Lian Brook-Tyler & Jonathan Wilkinson

Lian Brook-Tyler and Jonathan Wilkinson, Wild Sovereign Soul co-founders, trace their own soul paths together, from childhood rupture and chronic mystery illness, through decades of searching, to turning their wounds into medicine, and suffering into a path worth walking. Lian and Jonathan sit down together for their monthly, free-flowing conversation honouring the path of the Wild Sovereign Soul. It's challenging to live in this crazy modern world, the Wild Sovereign Soul path is what we know will help. Each month, they meet live themes from the modern world head on, weaving together what they're currently consuming and creating, how wildness, sovereignty, and soul are showing up in their own lives, along with questions from listeners and the team, and the patterns they're seeing across our students and clients. There is room for curiosity, disagreement, and humour, alongside reflections drawn from their own experiences and initiations, as well as insights from ancient wisdom traditions, astrology, Gene Keys, shamanism, and more. The show offers grounded perspective, practical insights, and stirring activations for staying soul-led, aware, and responsive inside a modern culture that continually asks us to flatten and deaden ourselves. Each episode is also an invitation to journey deeper with the themes within the Wild Sovereign Soul community, UNIO. In this episode, Lian and Jonathan open the veil on their own soul paths, tracing the ruptures, the mystery illnesses, the chronic pain and long years of not knowing, through to the moments that cracked something open and made it medicine. Jonathan shares how decades of autoimmune conditions and brain fog became the precise material his soul needed to pull him out of his mind and into something softer and truer, and how the path of Christ consciousness, Gene Key 22, and a daily Post-It note are currently where that work lives. Lian traces her own path from the abandonment wound that set her against the Feminine, through a physical attack that began fifteen years of facial pain, through to her father's death and the morning the pain simply left, and the Gene Key of the Shaman that had been waiting for her all along. From there, the conversation moves into the questions the team had waiting for them: what each would bottle from the other and dispense into the world, and the most valuable thing eleven years of working together has actually taught them. Listen if you've spent years trying to fix something that nothing has touched, keep cycling back to the same pattern and wondering when you'll be done with it, or suspect the life you're actually here to live is still waiting for you to show up. We'd love to know what YOU think about this week's show. Let's carry on the conversation… please leave a comment wherever you are listening or in any of our other spaces to engage. What you'll receive from this episode: Why autoimmune and mystery conditions so often have a soul call at their root, and what it means to finally stop trying to cure them and begin to understand what they're trying to show us How the Gene Keys spheres of Life's Work and Evolution tend to be the ones we most resist, forget, and keep cycling back to What it actually looks like when two people with polar opposite natures use each other as the material for their liberation over more than a decade Resources and stuff Lian spoke about: Excalibur clip that Lian mentioned Register your interest for the upcoming Wild Sovereign Soul journey here.
