    Part I - Losing His Wife to Postpartum Psychosis: Steven D'Achille's Story of Advocacy and Purpose through the Alexis Joy Foundation

    Steven D'Achille is the founder and president of the AlexisJoy Foundation, established in memory of his wife, Alexis, who died from postpartum depression and psychosis in 2013, just weeks after giving birth to their daughter, Adriana.  Steven went on to play a major role in developing the AlexisJoy D'Achille Center for Perinatal Mental Health at Allegheny Health Network's West Penn Hospital, one of the first facilities of its kind in the region. Since opening, the center has treated more than 20,000 women. Steven has spoken at events including the World Congress for Women's Mental Health in Paris and before the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, working to change how perinatal mental health is understood and treated. https://www.alexisjoyfoundation.org/

A retired U.S. Coast Guard veteran with 20 years of service, he has experience in areas such as search and rescue, law enforcement, and trauma intervention. He currently works as an adjunct professor at Purdue Global University and serves in the Federal Bureau of Prisons, supporting individuals with addiction, behavioral issues, and trauma.Together, we explore what it's like to be a psychologist for prisoners, identity roles, masking, work life balance, and finding hope in the darkest of places.
