What Have We Done to the Fine Arts? Is It Just an Elective?

What Have We Done to the Fine Arts? Is It Just an Elective?

Professor Carol is back in this episode of Classical Et Cetera to talk about the importance of studying the fine arts and music and its role in a classical education. In small ways we have lost the integral parts of the fine arts in our modern culture. And in our neglect, the fine arts have drifted to the backs of our collective consciousness to the role of a simple pass/fail elective. How do we take it back? It takes a unified curriculum, a passionate teacher, and a creative approach to reinstate the fine arts in the hearts and minds of our students. Join Jessica, Tanya, Paul and Carol as they dive into art's place in the classical world and how our culture can learn to thrive again with an emphasis and attention to the fine arts! Memoria Press is here to help homeschool and classical schooling families with tips, choices, and simple planning strategies to make classical Christian education available to all!

Accessible and engaging!

As a homeschool mom of seven years who is only just jumping into classical education, this podcast has been life-giving! The encouragement and wisdom shared is so accessible and engaging even to those who were not classically educated themselves and have little knowledge of the things we are teaching our children today. I can put an episode on for a quick 5 minutes while I have time to kill and am amazed at what I learn in such a short time. As for Memoria Press users, it’s an added bonus that listening to these episodes helps you feel a connection with those who have created the materials your children are using, it gives a deeper understanding behind the “why” of what we are doing everyday and motivates me to keep going on the hard days. I feel like these are my friends! Lol. Big thanks to Shane and the gang.
