Please No Fake Accents

Hey Jeff,
I have been listening for awhile and two weeks ago I finally took advantage of the buy one give one offer you have. I love your podcast and all the interviews but I have I tell you the episode with one of my all time favorites Russel Brand ( the first episode of the 12 Steps) made me absolutely cringe. I hated your fake British accent to the point if I did not already have a relationship with this podcast, I never would’ve listened to it again it turned me off so badly. I have been sober almost 16 years. I take my sobriety seriously. Doing a fake accent for the entire intro and then the closing of it seemed way out of touch for me. I understand a little bit at the beginning as an endearing way to introduce Russell but to keep it up like a method actor…just nope. To me, it just took away the seriousness of what the 12 steps are.

I will continue with my subscription and look forward to listening to your podcast because I think you do a lot of good…just think you made a mistake here.

Thanks for taking the time to read.

Sincerely,
Melissa Black

a ray of hope

I just listened to episode 490 about Russell Brand, and I have to say while I have lost a lot of hope re the division in our society and everyone’s rush to judgment without facts, I was deeply heartened and impressed with your level of honesty, transparency, and integrity in this matter. as you said, these issues should not be decided in the court of public opinion. To rush to judgment - on either side - without all of the facts (never mind a fair trial!) is cult-like behavior. Thank you so much for being an example of wisdom and integrity, and truly a ray of hope.

Shares an amazing range of wisdom in a practical manner

I’ve been listening to Commune over the last year, which has been the most difficult of my life, and it has provided some amazing lights in the darkness. I love Jeff’s conversational style and how he and his guests explore not only what makes us human but also how we are really more powerful than we know. Highly recommend to anyone who is interested in spirituality, health, the mind, soul, and directions for living a good life.
